Great story, and ptsd is a real issue for Police, Fire and Ambos. I have seen many harmed members of the Police Force, and all too often they confront the worst days in other people’s lives - and takes it toll.

And SES Rescue units that are often forgot about when it comes to PTSD. 20 without even a how are you going mate????? 340 fatalities takes it's toll on you just as much as the Police Fireys and Ambos. But they get paid to be there we do it to help the community

Ross you are of course correct. Frontline organisation s owe their people various duties of care, and that include a duty to help them deal with horrible things they have to confront.

Great video, beautiful road and scenery and fascinating content from Michael. Funny enough I just did a motovlog about PTSD, in which I described how riding is a therapy quite similar to the one that saved me from that illness. I still have a lot of respect for those who serve in the Police - as in all walks of life, it is only a few exceptions who tarnish the reputation of their peers.

@@MrBenHaynes I rode it two-up on a Harley Road King and still thoroughly enjoyed it. I will (covid permitting!) get back to Aus sometime in not too distant future and ride these roads again. Having said that... we're not short of incredible roads here in Europe. They're just a little busier! 👍

The only trouble with this road is some idiots that you get on there. I actually enjoy the drive and am happy to just take my time. The changing speed limits are something you really have to concentrate on though, all through the mountains. One minute it is 60, then 80, then 70, then 80, then 100, then 70 to many changes of speed. :)

@lowranger4x49
@lowranger4x49 6 жыл бұрын
What police brainwash? He has an at times stressful job and riding is one of the ways he can get away to relax / balance out the stress in his life with a like minded group of mates. Would you call it 'brainwash' if it were an ambo, firey or soldier with a similar story in the video?

why is it call bells line "of" road
@storiesofbike
@storiesofbike 6 жыл бұрын
I think it was originally just a designated line on a map in the early 1820's, "Bell's Line", part of the Darug aboriginal people's pathway network. It was then later cleared to become a road, "Bell's Line of Road".
@m1chi13l
@m1chi13l 6 жыл бұрын
A bloke called Bell originally cleared it a couple hundred (?) years ago. He has a township nearby named after him. It was the first road through the great dividing range, I believe
@chrisheggie952
@chrisheggie952 6 жыл бұрын
Second road perhaps. The first road across loosely follows the path taken by Blaxland, Wentworth and Lawson and was often referred to as Bathurst Road or Cox's road. Parts still remain as Old Bathurst Road but in the main it's just the Great Western Highway. Bell's Line is definitely the better biker road if you pick a quiet time mid week or early morning on the weekend. Don't expect to see the dramatic cliff views very often unless you get off the bike and walk into the bush.

Yeah apart from when we want to get away from it all we get harassed by you blokes doing “random” breathe testing. Tested 3 times in one weekend in the Blue Mountains, 20 bikes lined up and probationers ticking boxes, making quota and didn’t show me the dignity of calling me by my name.
@MrBenHaynes
@MrBenHaynes 3 жыл бұрын
You sound quite entitled and self-important Alex. Poor diddums, they didn't call you by name. The audacity of them to legally breath test you! Probationers ticking boxes, you say. Is there anything in their line of duty that they can do without scorn and derision? Get off your high horse....

Some say that Japanese bikes have no souls. When you twist the throttle on a Harley and the engine vibrate and makes loud noises but does not accelerate. You realize that American't bike have no heart.

So much in the name of character and heart. But fact remains most bikers who do 10K 20K round the world use Hondas, Yamees or Kawis. Not the Beemers, Triumphs or Ducatis. Or Harleys. You don't want to be in the middle of Bangui or Douala with a broken 260 Kilo Ducati. PS: The recent move by Harley to introduce 4 news bikes in different segments is a welcome change. PPS: This is a good video.
