I think you both have the right ideas and attitudes for properly educating your children. We homeschooled our 3 children, which are all in 30's now, on our homestead and rv's. I truly believe every experience is a learning experience with many different applications. It is a wonderful thing to be able to individualize your child's learning based upon their abilities and interest. Love your VLOG.

Super cool video. My son is ASD so we do regular math science writing stuff then we have washing hands, tying shoes type lessons daily too. I love the grocery shopping thing. I have my son make his own shopping list then be responsible for getting those items really helps with his life skills and his reading and ordering things.

My sisters and I learned more traveling than ever when in the school classroom. Any subject came be taught on the road. I gave my kids maps and where do you want to go and what roads do we take, add up how far is it. how many gallons of gas, how much will it cost to do this. Use where you are for the curriculum. it's harder on you kinda but it works. The kids will learn better on the road. I love you and you family. Your real and that is rare! Keep it between the ditches! Love y'all.

Totally interested in packets! Thank you for the information! And helping me realize I am doing better than I thought. My father in law got our son gift cards, he would take an hour budgeting himself and what he wanted. It was great!

your girls are getting so big! I love that you road schooling Goose! if I ever have kids, homeschooling is definitely at the top of my list, mainly because I want to be able to give them a more tailored curriculum and be able to do more hands-on activities in the community. I remember how bored I was in school being stuck at a desk, having to do "paperwork" all day, and having to learn out of a textbook. History didn't become real to me until I was older, and was able to go see historical sites for myself. It took going to Hawaii during my freshman year of college (to visit my brother who was stationed there), and visiting Pearl Harbor, for Pearl Harbor day and WWII to sink in, and to understand the gravity of it. Knowing that I was standing on that platform looking down at the sunken USS Arizona, knowing that it is the final resting place for hundreds of men. It was then and there that the Attack on Pearl Harbor and WWII were no longer just a chapter or two in a textbook. It is amazing the opportunities you are giving your girls to learn so many things by incorporating the Kinesthetic Approach (aka Hands-On Learning) as part of your curriculum.

I loved this video. We do the K12 program with my daughters 4 kids. We have been doing this for 3 1/2 years now. Her twin 5 year old have started Kindergarten and I see where your activities would be great for them. If you do make up a packet I’d be interested in getting it.

This is very informative! James I wondered if you were. My son is and so is his son. That up and down stuff at the table is kinda of annoying. I forgot how my son acted and now my sweet like grandson. Ashley I just love you. You do need to talk on here more. Y’all are such a sweet couple and so cute together. The girls are such cuties. My mom was a 4 grade teacher for 25 yrs. She expected a lot for my siblings and I

Id love to have more curriculum options especially coloring pages. My youngest is in 1st and we homeschool. We use Masterbooks curriculum and shes doing very well in math, science, and social studies but struggles with reading and sight words . Shes very kinesthetic so color pages are strait up her alley. You could always look at putting something on Teachers Pay Teachers I love that resource. Love all the tips.

Hello! I am a big fan of you guys! We are about to hit the road full-time in our Class A RV with our 2 girls (4 & 2), and 2 dogs! I will be homeschooling/road-schooling and am a total newbie! I have started gathering materials for school and I was curious what exactly you use. Do you have a particular curriculum you follow or just use worksheets or workbooks from the internet on your pencil and paper days? I have seen the workbooks on your Amazon store but didn't know if there was anything else you would suggest. Also, where did you get that US map in the beginning of the video (around mark 4:59)? I have been looking for one. Thank you so much and looking forward to your next video! Kayle Copley]

I'd suggest reading Cathy Duffy's 102 Top Picks for Homeschool Curriculum to figure out what your teaching style is b/c you're offering a very typical public school at home style, but there's a bunch of styles. I personally *love* Charlotte Mason style, which has no worksheets, but is a rigorous, enjoyable education.
@TheChicksLife
@TheChicksLife 4 жыл бұрын
While I must admit that I have never read Cathy Duffy's book, I will agree with you that EVERYONE has a different method of teaching. That's what makes homeschooling so wonderful! Each family can adjust their teaching methods to fit the learning styles of their children! Which is why I have created a curriculum that is half "normal" school and half get out and learn through adventure. I can see where you might think this looks like a typical at home public school style, but I promise you, that is not the case. Public schools do not provide a learning environment based on only your child's interest and learning style, they also do not get to use places around the US as their learning tools. Charlotte Mason is amazing! I love that she was a firm believer in reading quality books (living books) to help the student be more engaged in what they are learning. However, after talking to my daughter, using Charlotte Mason wouldn't work well for us because she really wanted to be able to read by herself. My understanding of CM is that those fundamentals are not taught until later. Also, I am a firm believer in providing some worksheets. Simply because it is a way to help my daughter learn to focus her attention on things that will not always keep her attention. Life is not always full of fun paperwork that inspires us and keeps us wanting to turn the page. While I do believe that the public school system has its faults, I also believe that the basic structure on which it was created is solid. I do wonder, if you are using CM how do you have your children practice their penmanship? Also, does your school district not require work examples?

Home schooling robs children of socialization skills, long term friendships with other children in their own age group. You are the rarity of being a qualified teacher. A lot of parents who home school are barely educated themselves. The children will be only as bright as the parent, in many cases it's less than capable. Another "Me Generation" in the making. My Father was a Fulbright Scholar. He disproved of home schooling for the above reasons...........smart man! Okay, rant over ;) Your children are adorable to say the least!
