SUGGESTIONS: I think that you should have a long narrow window installed on both sides, say about 12-14 inches high and about 3 to 4 feet long, with a screen in it so that you can see outside and ventilate all at the same time. Windows that are not wide enough for people to get into, even if they break it, but big enough for you to sit up in bed on a rainy or snowy day to see out. Leaving your door open for ventilation is dangerous, especially since you don't know who or what could be outside. You should always lock your doors as you're heading in, and not as an afterthought. You really don't know who or what could be lurking nearby. You should always have a clear path from the back to the front, without getting out to drive or go to sleep. I saw where this lady had security cameras installed outside her van. You can get one that you can look at on a monitor that stays up or on your computer...and phone. If someone knocks, you can see. You can also see before you open the door. You can paint part of your vehicle a lighter color inside to brighten things up a bit...something light and soft on the eyes, at least in your sitting/sleeping and kitchen areas (around the walls). Just be careful out there. There will be people who would target you alone, just to get the vehicle. People aren't as nice and trustworthy as they used to be. I can't stress it enough, you need a clip-on bear spray canister that should be on your hip, every time that door opens and a small weapon on your person or in your vehicle...both when you're out walking. There will be nothing you'll be able to do to defend yourself if you get caught out alone and in trouble. Protect yourself. Love the build.

The buddy heater is causing the excess condensation, when propane reacts with oxygen during combustion it creates moisture, raising the humidity inside. It then condenses on the cold metal surfaces. Congrats on your first night, your rig is awesome, looking forward to your future adventures!

Nice try guys on the condensation explanation. But it's a lot simpler than that. She turned it off to sleep. The condensation is caused by exhaling warm air while sleeping, and it condenses on surfaces, just like in a tent. The turned off heater had no effect.

Great to see you and Blue in the new rig! Few tips: -never use Mr. Buddy while sleeping. Dangerous for a few reasons. All the people you see using them do it while awake only. -ALWAYS crack a window with the heater running for carbon monoxide safety AND condensation -your breath causes cause condensation as well so a window always cracked for airflow will help. You don't want mold. -heat rises, so putting the heater on the floor helps better warm the space. Just make sure you have appropriate space around it. -heated 12V blanket to warm the bed. Can't wait to see adventures to come:)

Have you checked the turn signal mechs inside the steering wheel shaft? If the landing screw mounting the signal lever wears thru the connector insulation the lever feels firm but the wires are exposed and will short when driving vibrates then into contact. Most common if popping multiple fused at once.

Condensation ..that is why you need to get the diesel heater hooked up.. When my wife and I started out in a small 'CampInn' teardrop trailer.. that we had built to our full-time road life. Our first night in Neesdah Wisconsin camp on the teardrop builders property was so nice! We researched the heating situation/system. We chose a very small vehicle 12volt defroster/heater for warmer for the teardrop. It took only a short time running about 5 minutes when we are ready to sleep. Upon waking, we just used it for 5 minutes, again, to warm us up enough to get our "butts in gear". The first night was dry & comfy with temps outside in the low-teens. Power consumption was barely noticeable, still, 12.6 volts on our new deep cycle AGM battery. The truck's 7pin plug was enough to bring the battery back to 14.1volts. Happy trails & Be safe!

So we have a buddy heater for our pop up. We use it at night yes when we're sleeping. If you are able to vent your vehicle like crack a window open you can, second if you have a hard stable surface you can use your buddy at night while you sleep, just place your buddy heater on a level surface with all flammable materials away from it and around it. My husband sits our buddy heater on top of the stove in the pop up on a metal type plate kinda like a flat cookie sheet. It's a thought and something that requires a lot of thinking and questions about if you really need to use the buddy to keep warm at night . And like I suggested buy a cookie sheet to sit the buddy on and you can use it that way on a level surface it's a suggestion, not that you should unless you are really needing heat at night.

Welcome to the world of British automobile electrics. If that triangle is the hazard light(fuse 1) then I would looking at the grounds then the hazard switch, turn signal switch, flasher unit. Also check to see if the wiring on the back of the cluster is in good shape with no damage as if one of the wires comes loose and is grounding itself to the to the metal then it will pop the fuse. A digital multimeter is your friend. Also look into getting a few resettable fuses in order to stop creating a pile of dead fuses. These fuses have a reset button you push back in.

Carbon Monoxide is a heavy gas and settles low. Think of it like a pool full of water. You want the detector low to the ground so it can detect it. Think of it as liquid gas, and not gas gas. Carbon is a solid, and Oxygen is a gas. You get liquid by combining solid with gas. So it acts like a liquid gas. A liquid that floats.

I have a natural gas burning stove in my kitchen, with a fan above to exhaust the fumes up and out. Propane, butane, natural gas, and any burning hydrocarbon will create some carbon monoxide. Have seen videos of folks winter camping in a tent with a small wood burning stove, Yes they had a carbon monoxide detector but a good tent can be well ventilated. The detector is supposed to go off when the level goes above safe.

Also, put your mattress on something that'll allow it to beeath and not get wet/moldy. For your LED lights, add a resistor to each side and voila, or is it Viola, magic and fuse will stop saying bye bye. LED lights are great, but they don't work well with older flashing mechanisms. Adding a register capably of handling your specific current will do wonders! Good luck....love the defender!

The buddy heater will put out too much heat to run all night unless your in the negative temps. Also, I would not have an open flame on the floor. Not only can you let your hair fall close to it but you don't want to light blue up by accident either. It's not safe enough.

👍🙋‍♀️ I had issues with turn signals in my old 96 Dodge that had been sitting awhile. Didn't have issues before. Come to find out, one of my two flashers was going bad. I figured this out by switching the two. Then I knew which one to replace. Good luck finding your issues. 🍀 My daughter found out things about my big buddy heater. Such as even in a old large travel trailer with high ceilings, you must open a window for less condensation. Then she learned that any plastic, within three feet would melt. They get very HOT! We too turn them off at nite. Your dad is a wise man 👍 Safe travels... 🙋‍♀️🍀👍

I use my buddy heater in my pickup cab a lot during colder days so I don't have to idle my truck. My suggestion is keep some windex or something handy and a roll of paper towels. It helps after the condensation dries and makes your windshield all foggy. Make sure and Crack a window.

I use a 12 volt car blanket to warm up my van bed, before going to sleep. Gets plenty warm. I'm afraid of propane heaters, but that's just me. LOVE your new rig! Safe travels :)

Keep a window open when you sleep should help with the condensation and also if you use a heater always have a window cracked open.

I can see why you're so excited, you have an amazing rig! You did good! I don't remember if you talked about this, so if this is repetitive, sorry about that...Look at getting a diesel heater. I agree with your Dad to not keep that Buddy heater on overnight. Besides the condensation it causes, it's a potential hazard if knocked over. Maybe good to keep for emergency back up, but definitely try and get a diesel heater. Love, love, love the setup. Congrats!!!

the buddy heater is completely safe. it will shut off if it falls over and it can totally sit on your counter with absolutely no issue whatsoever.

You made a great choice on getting a Defender. While stationed in England these were incredible work horses for the farmers and horse stable owners. Thy were dependable and could go all over the farm, fields and woods. Marie, I love your enthusiasm and you will bond well with your ride. When I traded my Jeep Compass for a GMC Savana 2500 cargo van, like you I marveled at all of the space afforded by the van. I could sleep, cook, eat, get dressed, pee and even poop (sorry...TMI) in my van. And I had a "garage" area for tons of gear and I'm adding a small ebike! Be extremely cautious using the Mr. Heater Buddy. Crack a front window to allow some air flow and make sure your detector works. Never go to sleep with it on. Propane use produces condensation. Keep a towel handy to wipe away condensation. Ensure nothing flammable is within three feet of it...especially curtains that could easily be blown by wind or moving air. Keep a good fire extinguisher nearby and make sure you know how to activate and actually use it. I've had friends who did not know how to activate their fire extinguishers. Good luck on fixing the turn signal problem. Enjoy your new ride and keep having fun. When you have fun it makes us happy and we enjoy your videos.

The condensation on your ceiling is from the gas heater. Im sorry but I feel your pain about burnt hair, but I laughed so hard. Good idea on turning off the heater for the night. They have usb electric blankets and sleeping bags on Amazon. Might be safer for you.

An old British vehicle with wiring problems. I am an old mechanic that is not surprised at all. I hope it gets sorted without too much of a headache. We use a Buddy heater in an RV with two dehumidifiers, they make a lot of moisture. That poor headliner of yours is gonna get wrecked if you don't get that diesel heater soon.
