My great uncles, and grandfather have lost their battle to ALS, and my father is losing his fight to ALS. It's so great to see so many people becoming aware of this disease and deciding to help. It truly means a lot for the victims and families.

Thanks Jimmy for bringing awareness to ALS. I was diagnosed last year and face many challenges. ALS is underfunded and under researched. There is NO CURE in my lifetime but hopefully in the future. I love the show. You make me laugh every day and I record so I can watch on the weekends. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Quest should donate at least $25,000! $$$$$

I was happy to see this challenge yesterday for the first time on facebook, and before that I only new about ALS because my grandmother had it and passed away in 2009. This was a terrible experience; but my Nee Nee was strong, smiling and giving us the finger when she felt the need to express herself all the way to the very end

I did this challenge for Autism. Whatever the cause it's a great way to spread awareness because it's crazy and entertaining and lots of people are willing to do it. Kudos to Jimmy and the guys!

They are raising awareness, I am sure most people had no idea what ALS is before this ice bucket challenge started, now anywhere you see the ice bucket challenge you are gonna think about ALS. Pretty smart way to bring awareness to a debilitating disease.

My daughters teacher lost her husband to this last year and my daughter saw the grieving of her teacher. She had also met the husband once. It is a horrible disease, and when it robs someone of their family, their livelihood & someone to grow old with (as with any disease) it is a tragedy. I'm all for however people can get the message out.

I think is awesome. My grandfather and great uncle both had ALS and passed away because of it. ALS is a disease that not many people know about or understand. There is no cure for it, once you get it, it's not a matter of IF it will kill you, only when. This ice bucket challenge for ALS is an amazing and unique opportunity to spread awareness and raise funds for research and ALS patients. As of Wednesday, August 20, The ALS Association has received $31.5 million in donations compared to $1.9 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 20). So the challenge is working and more and more people now know what this horrible disease is. And to those of you complaining about water "waste"....seriously??? Water is abundant, you can go to the ocean or a lake and get water for this challenge. It doesn't have to be filtered fresh from the tap. Although I'm sure most people are using the hose or sink to fill buckets, some are also using existing sources such as their pool water. And once the water is dumped, it gets recycled back either into the earth or down the drain and filtered. So where's the waste???? Oh by the way, the ice water is meant to simulate symptoms in ALS when their muscles and nerves start to go numb...but instead of lasting 5-10 seconds like in the challenge, it lasts for the remainder of their life and only gets worse.

My older brother- 48- 2 teen kids married for 21 years has ALS - diagnosed last year. has the form where is voice goes 1st. His mission is awareness to this underfunded currently incurable thing. This ice bucket challenge has given more awareness and generated more donations then in past years. you know what those who are prisoners in their body shutting down while their mind still functions are the only ones with the right to have any form of judgement. This ALS movement had lead to more knowing and caring about this horrific illness then before. My brother who will die either of pnemonia of suffication- has done the ice bucket challenge. and I as his sister was to tears to see that more aweness has been given to this horrible disease that in this selfish society few care about. soo noo negative comments. try having your body shut down on you while your brian still works and your family has to see this has our community cares little. This in whatever form can only be considered a good thing.
