Great to hear Rob’s Marine OCS experience. I went to OCS in 1992 after having been in Marine Bootcamp 1989. Two completely different experiences to say the least. I actually got *boarded” at 6 weeks and was eventually allowed to go back into training. I got two chits (demerits) for “lack of physical courage” during hand-to-hand combat training (pugil sticks) and dropping out of a squad integrity run in which I stepped aside to vomit instead of puking in formation on the guy in front of me. Being *on-the-bubble” and not being able to fail anymore events, definitely upped the pressure level of OCS. It was like being a bushy-tailed squirrel living in a room full of rocking chairs.

I went through Marine Corps OCS in the early '70's. It's boot camp for officer candidates. We had mustangers (former enlisted who got out and came back in as an officer candidate) in our platoon and they had been through enlisted boot camp. They all said OCS was worse. We had a DOR board and a bell. They pushed to get you to drop on request. Some couldn't hack it and they DOR'd. Others were cut. There is a high percentage of people who don't make it all the way through the program. Once you do graduate and you are commissioned, you then go to The Basic School, which is 6 months of intense training. After that, you go to you assigned specialty school. I was in artillery, so we went through 3 months of artillery training. So, it's a long time from OCS to finally being assigned to the fleet. A lot of pressure in every stage. Wouldn't trade that experience for anything.

As a former DI, I KNOW for fact BOTH officer OCS and enlisted boot camp are stuck with some that barely make it or slipped by in first phase. 9 out of 10 of those are dropped in the 4 weeks of basic warrior training (Camps Lejuene/Pendleton) or whatever they call it now. The other 1 out of 10 goes sometime during their enlistment. Example I was getting ready to drop a recruit because he couldn’t do the Obstacle and confidence course and some PT stuff I was told I had dropped too many recruits already and had to keep him. THIS IS THE SAME IN ALL MILITARY BRANCHES. And if you don’t believe that look at today’s recruiting issues, THEY ARE keeping some losers now. Unless you are a LGBTQ cuz +++, then you are DEFINITELY being kept 🥸

How the hell is someone too short to fly a plane in the military. Aliens reach us all the time and them sunsaguns are 4 feet tall on a good day

Lmao like it's an amusement ride or some shit like of course you can fly if your are short you just need a raised seat or some boosters lolol

Aircraft seats, depending on the model, have limited adjustability. If you’re too short and can’t see out of the cockpit, you’re done.

The military has very little that is adjustable for the user's comfort. Adjustable things break more often than a fixed object.

Air Force has always had height requirements for pilots. You had to be at least 5'4" but no taller than 6'5". They just recently removed the minimum height requirement to allow more women to serve as pilots.

Lol planes are all made for a certain size because you can’t build a multi million dollar plane to fit the pilot. I think some are $40-100m
