In this episode, I build a Captain America shield starting with my own 3d model, then take you through printing, finishing, and painting to create a completely 100% from scratch build.

Is is possible to share the Settings for the printer? I am really new and somehow I can not make the shield to stay on the platform.
@RobPauza
@RobPauza 3 жыл бұрын
First off.. the shield pieces will definitely require a lot of supports. It's been a while so I'm not sure what I used. I printed in PLA and most likely used around 220c temp on extruder at 18% infill and 50c bed temp. That being said, it's going to vary greatly depending on your printer an the type/brand of filament you use. I would recommend looking for a forum for your particular printer and finding out what others are using successfully. Most of the time you'll find that people are super eager to help and you may even find some profiles pre-made that you can use. Hope this helps.

Hi Rob, I just stumbled on your channel from the Raise forums. Your stuff is fantastic! Was the material you engraved for the plaque TroLase Metallic? It looks incredible.
@RobPauza
@RobPauza 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks so much for the compliments. I've had a lot of fun with my Raise3D printer. It's not Trolase, but appears to be very similar. (not familiar with TroLase) The material I used is Rowmark "Brushed Stainless Steel", which is a 1/16" plastic. It's about $20 for a 12" x 24" piece through Johnson Plastics. www.johnsonplastics.com/rowmark-metalgraph-plus-brushed-stainless-steel-black-1-16-engraving-plastic

I don't sell anything, but offer this and some other 3d models for free at thingiverse.com and pinshape.com. Just search for my name... robpauza. @RobPauza
@RobPauza 6 жыл бұрын
SKY Looks like their Pro 24x16 is closest. It’s really about what size you need to cut/etch. There’s plenty of brands out there. Also, cutting most materials produces fumes that need venting so an extraction system is another expense.

Rob Pauza so I tried to print the shield both tfa and the one with the newer star and it has fail miserably all the time I’ve tried... could you help me? Give me your settings or something? I burrowed a cr-10 and is a total noob so anything goes
@RobPauza
@RobPauza 4 жыл бұрын
Kira Axelsen I’m not sure how it’s failing so it’s hard to tell you much. But, it should be a fairly easy print. Both sides will need support. I’d say since you’re new, just try auto supports in your slicer. Other than that ... maybe 20% infill at .1mm layer height should work. Depending on what material you are using, just try default settings. Regular PLA is usually something like 120 C at 50 C bed temp. Hope this helps.

Rob Pauza Can you recommend any makes/model for making the sort of label you did, on stainless steel, maybe doesnt need to be as big?
@RobPauza
@RobPauza 6 жыл бұрын
Well, for metal you will need a fiber laser, which are even more expensive. :) CO2 lasers won't cut into metal. You need a different wavelength. I used a plastic from a company named Romark that looks like metal, but will cut/etch with any of the less expensive CO2 lasers. If you really do want metal, that might be a better fit for a CNC router. Sorry though, I don't really know a whole lot about what's available. Honestly some of those cheap Chinese made CO2 lasers on Amazon or eBay should work for most plastics/wood as long as they aren't too thick.
