@@3CFilms I agree there a lot. But I do think she played a traumatized teenager REALLY well. Just the way she freaks out and has her meltdowns, you REALLY feel for her. Her reaction to the book telling her Michael is actually her brother reaction was perfect. I would’ve gone batshit crazy like that lol 😂 so I give her a lot of credit with her acting in this. Obviously I wasn’t a big fan of that white horse stuff. And knowing zombie, he was probably being pulled around non stop with changes that the movie wasn’t coming out how he wanted it to and had to kinda throw something to the Weinstein’s lol

They do it better with Annie than Laurie since she's traumatised but is still trying to get on with life and help Laurie through it. Whereas Laurie just calls everyone bitches, has nightmares where she re enacts Michael's murders and somehow has the same hallucinations of their mother and the horse.

I just watched this movie and the first one, and I can honestly say...I have legit never been more terrified of a character. Plot points aside, this version of michael is the most brutal, most ruthless, most unstoppable character in history. It was so realistic, so visceral, so dirty, so...terrifying. I will never look at him the same way again.

This is by far the best version of Myers ever. But I think people don't like him bc he's too real and fits the monster role too well, it's like they'd rather see a shorter and skinny guy be the killer for whatever reason.
@TheDisturbedKiwi
@TheDisturbedKiwi Жыл бұрын
@@Batman_83 Technically speaking, the thinner Myers is the more "real" one because real life killers are usually average sized as well. There are no buff serial killers that I can name. That's why I personally love the rob zombie version so much. He took a character you know, and made him even stronger. And his size makes him more of a threat. And even though we know his entire backstory, that doesn't make him any less scary. So I agree, this is the best version. This is the ultimate killer, doing literally anything to end your life. Still gives me chills.

The Best Part of this Movie by far are the performances of Brad Dourif and Danielle Harris . Especially the discovery of Annie's dead body by Laurie and especially Sheriff Brackett which is an even more brilliant in the Director's Cut because it has real life footage of Danielle Harris intertwined with Sheriff Brackett howling in sorrow cradling her dead body. That scene was such a Tearjerker it's the only scene in any horror movie that Scout Taylor Compton had to walk off set, because of how great friends they are. It truly hurt her.

I watched this 12 year old film with this bland, boring, nonsensical script and the barest plot, a pretentious plot. Because I don't care what some of the whiney critics out there say, I thought he done a fantastic job on the first Halloween just like This guy said being very logical and realistic and great story telling grounding Michael Myers and everything and then the second one being the absolute complete opposite in every aspect which just baffles me. I don't respect anyone who acted like they loved and respected the original and wanted to do it justice in the remake and the first fucking decision he makes, and you know he made this decision before he was even given the opportunity to direct this, really it wasn't even a decision it was just automatic, you know how I know? Cause he puts that bitch and his 3-4 friends in every fucking movie he makes and I never heard that interview until now about why his wife was on a horse in the movie period, etc. etc.and that response just shows you he didnt respect or care about shit. He never asked himself "god is my wife and my 4 buddies the best actors possible for these roles or is this just some nepotism bullshit im pulling on a higher level than anyone previous had achieved. This is a beloved franchise, major release, with some real production and money backing, more than any other piece of shit "arthouse horror' garbage you had produced up unit that time and with who? wait don't tell me no not the same 5 fucking rotating hacks still just fucking hanging around by their mouths clamped onto your fucking utters the same place your wife and friends had been for the last 10 years+ and where they'd stay for the next 10+ upcoming years easy if allowed, and guess what? yup you guessed it go watch the latest trailer for his latest movie coming out and tell me who's faces you see
@taylorhession1905
@taylorhession1905 2 жыл бұрын
@@jessepierce9046 I get the fact that you don't like seeing his wife and buddies in his films and honestly I can agree with you on it. The only one that appears in most of his films that actually puts on one hell of a performance is Bill Mosley. As for Halloween 2 remake I will say this, yeah it was garbage but it wasn't 100% Rob's fault. When the 1st one took off Rob had total control over everything with it and it was a big hit. Then as he was preparing for the sequel you will see in his interviews he stated that Dimension came in and tried to take control over everything and he was very unhappy about it and the way the movie turned out himself which is why he said he was done with the Halloween franchise and never working for Dimension again because they ruined his vision for the sequel. Also with his wife and buddies being in the films at least he didn't give them any major roles for the Halloween movies, he actually used good actors for the main roles like Samuel Loomis was an actor from the classic film A Clockwork Orange, sheriff Brackett was the voice actor for the child's play/Chuck movies. Then you had Danielle Harris from the original Halloween series 4 and 5 to be specific and fresh new talent to play the main character. Also the guy who played Michael Myers was never in his films but was an interesting casting choice because he was a pro wrestler. As for him not having respect for the franchise the same could be said about the original franchise entries, 1 and 2 were good but you can tell that at that time they wanted to do away with the whole Michael Myers story by killing him off in 2 and part 3 had NOTHING to do with anyone with 1 and 2 and made something completely different that turned out to be an awful entry into the Halloween franchise. Im sure had they called it something other than Halloween 3 then it may have been recieved better from critics and fans but not too much better, the acting was horrible the plot was off the wall and no one ever mentions part 3. Then because part 3 had performed poorly what did they do? Decided to go back to their cash cow Michael Myers to milk that story even further. I'll admit 4 was a good twist and 5 was pushing it a bit but they continued to milk the cash cow for what it was worth by making many more sequels with awful acting by majority of the cast and poorly written scripts and making it into some evil cult thats bringing him back to life then its back to he is just an evil being which completely ignores the cult theory. So it was like they were trying to keep their money flowing by hoping if they find a story that sticks with the audience they can keep making their money. If you ask me they disrespected their own work so you can't say Rob disrespected the franchise if you can't admit they did it themselves way before Rob

Personally I have a soft spot for this movie. It’s brutal, and has some story threads that are fairly deeper than they appear. Laurie having ptsd and flashes of psychosis throughout and learning the secrets her family held from her ended up making her feel alone and like she couldn’t trust anyone was a good touch. Seeing how Annie grew up from the experience and became the responsible one was also a good call in my opinion. I understand why people might not like it but I love the storytelling in it.

My issue with the movie when I watched it funnily enough is that I wish the movie focused more on her and her trauma and did away with Michael entirely. Make it her origin like the last one was his. Plus if she starts killing for the second act and have her escalate it can be a satisfying final movie too with her dying tragically at the end (or being committed with a new Loomis for herself or something).

I’m with you lol. We went in a group of 5 to see this and were all so into it and the moment it got past the hospital sequence I was like WTF?? I said it loudly enough some of the people in front of us turned to me and smiled in agreement… I walked out to take a breather and when I got back my excitement for the movie was gone, I couldn’t wait to get out of there, but everyone wanted to finish watching so there we were.

Hey Cris! You mentioned that you like the themes of PTSD in this. I think you'd enjoy reading the scripts for my Halloween fan film trilogy. The 2nd and 3rd installments are heavily inspired by the Rob Zombie films, but also take into account what does and doesn't work for Michael Myers. I really tried to encapsulate how an encounter with a killer can ruin lives in an instant. If anyone wants to read them, leave your email address in a reply and I'll totally send over the scripts.

You're not alone, I love Zombie's H2. Its easily in my top 5 halloween films. Scout Taylor-Compton gives an extraordinary performance as a character suffering PSTD from the previous film. Its 100% brutal and all Rob's vision. Most "fans" just want the same thing over and over. Copy & paste. When they get something different, they shit on things. It is what it is. To each their own. Cheers!

Anyone else get the sense that Michael was actually dead throughout this whole movie and it was actually Laurie who was the killer the whole time?
@ForgedInDirt
@ForgedInDirt 2 жыл бұрын
I think this movie deserves more credit than it gets.. It’s absolutely brutal. The exploration of the mental illnesses that would arise from an event like H1 is fantastic.. sure it’s weird and some stuff doesn’t make sense… But let’s not forget that there’s also a zombie Jason and a nightmare man that can kill you in your dreams while cracking jokes and making puns.. I think hobo Myers was super cool. The mask looked awesome half ripped, I think that was supposed to be an attempt to humanize “the shape” which a lot of OG Fans didn’t like.. I almost wish there was a portion of the film that showed what Michael was doing for the year prior to October.. maybe include a few kills that happened.. or show him struggling through a winter without killing and eating a dog.. idk something. But the movies aesthetic was great. It was shot and edited very interestingly. Look this is a rob zombie movie.. and he was given almost free reign to do whatever he wanted…

One of the biggest problems right off the bat with Laurie is she is so traumatized after the death that happened around her. Then after the terrible dream sequence Laurie wakes up with a giant CHARLES MANSON picture on her wall. It is just there cuz Zombie thinks it's cool. A traumatized person would not have that. As a child when Rob Zombie's Dragula came out I was 11 and wore Charles Manson shirts and KISS just like child Michael Myers in part 1. So I guess he knows his audience? I knew this would be stupid right away and it did not let down. Plus Rob Zombie literally writes the worst dialogue I have ever heard in any movie ever. Like in all of his movies. He just can't write realistic dialogue or he thinks every human being is incredibly trashy.

I just really like the movie because of how realistic it is to how an actual sequel would go down in real life, its incredibly accurate. It also has some of the best cinematography and kills in the entire franchise. Tyler mane also gives my favorite performance as michael in this movie out of all of the michaels.
@danielkeller1337
@danielkeller1337 Жыл бұрын
That's my thought exactly, how Tyler Mane was the best of all the Michael's. I just don't understand all the hate for this movie. It's actually a good movie, but not his greatest. He just shows how Michael is bringing his family back together, even if he has to brutalize everyone in his way. Supernaturally through dark spirit, and through both physical form. The other thing about Michael Myers talking, it doesn't matter. It only makes him more menacing when he's angry and yells because what gets him to open up. I actually come to think about it enjoy these movies the most out of all of them. The originals were good, but going into the supernatural side like he was for the whole continuity was a bit ridiculous. Even though, it would be fun to go back to the original continuity with Tyler Mane as Michael Myers instead of a slow walking immortal Michael that we got in the originals. Have him immortal as well. I really don't think people appreciate the supernatural anymore, because that's what made Michael Myers.

@@danielkeller1337 You might think it's a good movie, but it took away everything that made Michael frightening and mysterious in the first place. He should've made an original story about another masked serial killer and it would've gotten much better reviews. This one and Halloween Resurrection are considered the absolute worst along with Halloween 5. Even curse of Michael Myers is better.

100% agree with you! The first rib zombie Halloween felt like it wasted too much time in the middle of the action. I didn't care to see him sit and make masks. When I saw the second halloween I was wondering if Rob zombie was Michael I hated how hobo Michael looked. Even throwing in sons of anarchy and house of a 1000 corpse actors didn't help. Also his wife absolutely had no reason to be in the second film...or any film for that matter...

I remember being unbelievably hyped for H2 prior to the release- the first was great and the trailer for the sequels sold it so well. Laurie walking down the street immediately following the end of the first film, only to be approached by the Sheriff. The news of her relationship to Michael hovering over scenes showing how traumatized she, Annie, and the Sheriff are in the present. It all set up what could’ve been a great film. However, Zombie brought back his wife, recast younger Michael with Chase Wright Vanek (who didn’t hold a candle to Daeng Faerch), made Loomis a scumbag and the rest is history.
