I adored this program when I was small. Seeing it now brings back memories of a simpler and happier life. He will be missed. Tickle Trunk and all.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Mr. Dressup, the best Canadian kids' TV shows of all time. Long live Casey and Finnegan.

living in buffalo, i think i watched more canadian childrens shows than american. this was my absolute favorite show as a kid. it still holds up.

I finally found it! From my childhood..been looking for this for years now..

Mr. Dressup was like the Canadian Mr. Rogers. I was born & raised in a US/Canada boarder town, so we picked up CBC & CTV. As a kid, I remember watching Mr. Rogers, Mr. Dressup, Capt. Kangaroo, The Commander Tom Show, Romper Room, Polka Dot Door, Big Blue Marble, The Great Space Coaster & of course, Sesame St. & The Electric Co. I have many fond memories of that era. :-)

Awesome Man! Kudos to Mr. Dressup for giving kids on both sides of the Canadian- USA border a wonderful show to watch as kids and remember, long afterwards, as adults.

25 years old and i could still watch this show, listen to his stories and laugh at his games like noones business... RIP Mr. Dressup

OMG!!! the care free days of childhood. i remember getting up watching TV early morning. MR. Dressup, Fred Penners, sesames street. Then my sister would watch degrassi, wonder years, family values, and can't remember the other one...but yea good old times :)

This was my favorite childhood shows, I loved doing crafts with him.

Still remember the theme song :') My mom used to tell me "Just three more Mr. Dressups!" When I wanted to know how much longer a car trip would take.. ah childhood.

I haven't thought of this show in years...if you'd asked me about the show, I probably wouldn't remember. And as soon as the intro began, I remembered that music, I remembered Casey, and the dog, Finigan.

I love Mr. DressUp, when he talked... it felt like he was talking to you...

Gone but not at the same time. Love this guy and always will. Happy 85th bday... he will live forever.

He never did talk down to children. I think that's why we liked him so much.

RIP to him.. used to watch his tv shows when i was a kid and then i finally met him in real life at my high school back in 1999.. turns out he always lived in my town and my grandma knew him well

I used to do all the art he would do right after the show. My mother would say I was making "Mishy Mashy" basically a big mess, but I didn't care! Mr.Dressup rocked the world!

Ha! I giggled when Mr Dressup pushed Jack back in the box. Aw, I loved this show so much. I'm 31 now, but Mr Dressup takes me back to my childhood in the '80s.

The jack in the box song, i remember that. Jack in the box is out of sight and no one knows that he's there till someone comes and pushes the button/latch and up he pops in the air!

The first minute made me laugh. If today he said he was going to have a play in his room with a little girl and his aunt watching he would be in jail! Why has the world become so scared, I'll never forget shows like this that teach you values.

I used to love watching Mr. Dressup on CBC's CBUT-2 from Vancouver. However, I watched it on the transmitter based on Vedder mountain pointing down into Chilliwack, BC back in the 90s. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts in 2012, CBC pulled the plug on their transmitter there, so no more CBC in Chilliwack anymore. And that means no more Hockey night in Canada or any of those other CBC staples we used to enjoy back in the day. Gotta watch it on cable now.

the kids all called me Casey as a kid 'cos of my red mop and freckles. This show was genius, and I credit it for whatever positive aspects exist in my character.

i'm 28 and i tripped out when this episode started in a different room lol

i remember these kind of episodes (f. Casey + Finnegan) (aka the Trading Post owned by the alligator)... before, the format got changed, with the likes of Chester the Crow, Truffles, Annie, and Alex + Mr. Rodney Raccoon!

@etonks I saw an interview on the old late night show with Conan and he just had his son and said his name was Finnegan from the show. Conans reply was your son was born a drunk with a name like Finnegan McCormack. it was funny they both laughed :P

Those of you who loved watching Mr. Dressup when you were kids, incase you didn't know this about Casey, the puppet's gender was neutral. It was never officially stated. It was done that way so both boys and girls could relate to the puppet and that Casey could be whatever young viewers believed it to be! Anyhow I imagined Casey as a Boy. Anyone who cares to comment on my post, what did you imagine Casey as? Boy or Girl?
