There's been a lot of hype recently about Harrods selling a sandwich for £28, believed to be the UK's most expensive sandwich, so I went down to the luxury department store to see if any sandwich can be worth £28.

MTe back in the ninties In Southampton we had ‘Chateau du pan’ I think it was a chain. The best sandwiches baguettes with every topping. I remember my late mother used to have pastrami beef with avacado and other bits. They were the best sandwiches in all of the south!

I was just thinking about luxury goods in the shower (dull i know). Some items actually sell more when they're more expensive. Sometimes people are suspicious of lower priced goods and assume they're poor quality so don't buy them. Up the price of the very same good and sometimes sales will increase. In the case of this sandwich, their sales probably went through the roof because of it's status and hype

I went to Harrods yonks ago when Al Fayed was doing his thing there. Awful. Felt like C&A circa 1975. Kind of an Are You Being Served vibe without the humour. Looks like it has picked itself up since then

Great question. It was amazing but it’s a takeaway sandwich. If the sando was £10 I’d probably get it occasionally. I’m still not ruling it out at £28 though, but it won’t be a regular thing!

I can assure you IT IS not a5 wagyu beef. not even sure if its japanese. chances are they use either australian wagyu or british (if they use british its the lowest quality of wagyu, australian is decent but does not compare with an a5 japanese wagyu) japanese top quality wagyu is also extremely expensive, with kobe beef coming at well over 400£ per kg

@@RobbieKnox a5 is the best yes, a5 wagyu has around a 50/50 meat to fat ratio. a1 has barely any fat and is generally much tougher. although even if you had the money to get yourself an a5 kobe beef steak, it is not a steak to eat on your own. its far too fatty to be enjoyable in large quantaties

Typically wagyu steak in the UK isn’t what the Japanese would consider genuine wagyu. So I’m interested to know if this is the real thing or not. You’d hope so for the price!
