That's a movie that wouldn't fly in the world we have now full of snowflakes and progressives. Tropic Thunder. JRE had him on a podcast and he spoke on the movie. Good fun. Nice job with your comment 👍🏻

Well, he did receive an Oscar nomination, so I would say his performance was highly-rated! But he was up against Al Pacino and Denzel Washington among others...tough competition. It went to Al Pacino who was equally brilliant in Scent of a woman.

@@diananunez7Al Pacino won due to not having an Academy Award. Had he had a few like he should have at this point, I think Downey’s chances would have been higher. He did win the BAFTA this performance, which might have helped him be in a pretty good position prior to going into the Academy Awards.

It wasn't underrated. 63rd Academy Awards in '93 he was nominated for an Oscar.

One of my favorite movies of all time! I loved watching Charlot with my dad on Saturday afternoon when I was little... Great memories :-) Downey did a terrific job in this movie!

Can we also give a shout out to the MC? He followed the act so perfectly well, setting up each gag perfectly for RDJ to execute. He may not give the punchline, but he provided an excellent set up.

1992 was an excepcional year with Al Pacino and Robert Downey Jr nominated for best actor. I love both movies and believe both actors did an outstanding performance. It was a hard call, they both deserved the Oscar in my humble opinion.

He should have won for Chaplin, but since Pacino didn’t have an Academy Award it was his turn to win as a result of Scent of a Woman being his eighth nomination.

1992 was a super conflicting year for the Oscars. Robert Downey Jr. in "Chaplin," Denzel Washington in "Malcolm X," Al Pacino in "Scent of A Woman," Clint Eastwood in "Unforgiven," and Stephen Rea in "The Crying Game." Whew. Hard decisions. Hard decisions.

Don't know how often I've watched this scene. The physical comedy is simply brilliant. The whole movie is. I'll never get how"fans" who have seen this gem, still can reduce RDJ to Iron Man. When he did this, they probably weren't even born. Sad.

How is not being born before this ‘sad’? It’s not like they can decide when they’re born. Young or old, people appreciate RDJ’s acting and brilliance. It doesn’t matter on how long they are a fan, rather, how much they appreciate his work.

This movie is a bit like Dragon starring Jason Scott Lee. That was a highly underrated performance, but a jolly good movie. However, there were a lot of great movies to contend with in 1992 such as Silence of the Lambs, Beauty and the Beast, JFK and Bugsy, to name but a few, and RDJ wasn't too well known yet.

The guy in the balcony is John Thaw playing Fred Karno. Fred Karno basically created cinema slapstick and comedy before cinema was invented. Hollywood owes him a huge thanks.

イギリスの舞台お笑い芸人時代のチャップリンです。後の映画の激しいドタバタギャグの基礎を作った時期です。後にその中のミュージックホールの一夜をチャップリンの寄席見物としてリメイクしました。それは映画的に脚色した部分も含まれます。そこは酔っ払いをいつものチャーリーにし、貧乏人の騒がしい伯父さんを追加しました。

I remember that this film was universally panned with an ugly, brutal, vitriol you only see on MSNBC when they speak of Trump. It was really bad, and I thought it seemed a personal attack on Attenborough and Downey, who deserved and Oscar, no doubt. They must have really pissed off the wrong people.
