Robert Downey Jr. and Cillian Murphy are teaming up for the true story about the atomic bomb used to end World War II in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.” They sat down with “Extra’s” Melvin Robert to talk about the movie, in which Cillian plays J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the first nuclear weapon, while Robert heads the notorious Manhattan project. Robert also spoke about why he chose this film after bidding farewell to the MCU as Iron Man. “Oppenheimer” is in theaters July 21.

The way RDJ looks at Cillian Murphy, there is a lot of admiration, respect and even feeling honoured to have been in a film with him. Like he cannot quite believe his eyes that he is there with him. Edited: 3k likes? I seldom comment on videos. Didn't even remember i had written this two weeks ago. Now some weeks have gone by, all the actors in that film have said how unbelievable they feel to have worked with Cillian. I love RDJ and Cillian, in any film. Cillian has a soft spot in my heart, just probably because we are similarly sensitive.

@@HarryK-ld2ed Well that's not true, there were some excellent and deep scenes in the Marvel movies. You both are just taking dumbass cheap shots to be "funny". You could easily just compliment the actors for these roles but instead you decide to go low for no good reason, and disparage actors as a group in the MCU. Why? You think SL Jackson is that bad? You think Chris Evans didn't give any outstanding performances? Do you really think Hemsworth is a bad actor, along with Johannsen, Renner, D'Onofrio, Freeman, Boseman, Cumberbatch, and so on? You're throwing them all under the bus for a stupid 'meme' level joke? Pretty lame of you both to be that shallow.

Bro, Cillian is the most underrated actor of all time. His performance in movies such as "The Wind that shakes the barley", Anthropoid and the rest of his works with Nolan just pours out all the talent he possess, not to mention the peaky blinders phenomenon. just wanna say, what a rare thing to find someone who's watched Anthropoid!!!! such a stellar film and performance by Cillian right?; And of course, him in peaky just showcases what a talent he has to just make you see all his thoughts and emotions through his eyes without saying a word or changing much of his expression. Truly an incredible actor that I'm so used to seeing be underappreciated, it's actually a bit insane processing the very likely thought that he'll (at least!) be nominated for the best actor Oscar this year. so well deserved!

Cillian is a rare species, literally an actor who has played multiple types of movies and he’s bright in each one. I was a kid when Batman Begins came out, my first approach to DC was Justice League Unlimited and some of Batman TAS chapters, Scarecrow was iconic to me, and Cillian’s performance as Crane was TERRIFYING. Years later, another Nolan’s film, another great performance from Cillian’s, again, again and again. Bro has range. Oppenheimer should be the one to get him an Oscar, but I consider Cillian Murphy an actor who doesn’t need an award to be legendary.

I equally love how much Rdj is so openly and genuinely praising how amazing he feels Cillian's performance was, and while Cillian's personality is so different, you can tell he feels the same way, and the comments he's made about acting with Rdj when he's not sitting next to him shows that. Extrovert meets Introvert. I think this is the most epic film and performance between a leading man and supporting actor since There Will be Blood.

I have to wonder if Christopher Nolan honestly didn't have anything in mind for Cillian, and just gave him roles that were significant but not the star, or if Nolan had Oppenheimer in his back pocket all these years. From what I've seen and read, the long wait is entirely worth it. When Cillian says the line "I can perform this miracle" I think he meant it both in character and as an actor.
