Robert Downey Jr. is an actor and producer whose critically acclaimed performance as Lewis Strauss in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer earned him an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA Award. His newest project, The Sympathizer, an HBO miniseries based on the 2015 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name, has Downey Jr. taking on multiple roles simultaneously.
Born into a family of filmmakers, Downey Jr. began acting as a child actor in his father's independent films, then entered mainstream Hollywood in the 1980s. His portrayal of the legendary Charlie Chaplin in the 1992 biopic Chaplin earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. After a period of personal struggles with substance abuse, Downey conquered his addiction, dedicated himself to sobriety, and made a remarkable professional resurgence. His starring roles as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in the action-adventure Sherlock Holmes, and in the action comedy Tropic Thunder catapulted him to global stardom. To date, Downey has appeared in over 70 movies, which have grossed over $14 billion, making Downey one of the highest-grossing actors of all time.

What an interesting, enlightening and entertaining conversation between two men at the top of their game and willing and able to be humble and genuinely self-reflective. I rarely listen to pods of this length and at the end of it all I wanted was more. Bravo!

Feels like we're evolving beyond the point where anyone cares what a Hollywood celebrity has to say. A welcome shift.

Yeah, because having the desire or ability to act, or to be famous, somehow precludes the potential of having knowledge of anything else?? This guy sounds like a very intelligent, curious person with an exceptional life experience. Someone worth listening to.

Rdj has been in and through hell to have one of the biggest comebacks of all time. If you discount that because he’s talented that’s insane

It's more than that to me. I just enjoy what RDJ has to say beyond his career imo. He's cool to pick apart and just see him as human. I don't see him as some high and mighty type figure. I just enjoy what he has to say. Idk how to describe and it's not because he's a celebrity, his words are really thought provoking if you listen close, there's some nuggets of truth in his words.

@@dasupertramp5855 Some needy actor who has never set foot outside a gated community, peddling garbage culture designed to keep people dumb and distracted. The Marcus Aurelius of this age, so yes, I guess he is appropriate.
