The thing I find amazing about this song is the application of rational thought during intense emotions. The way she's singing it it's like she looked for a way to escape her life and is sure that she found it. She keeps repeating the same thing, "If i'm somebody else, it never happened to me." Not as if she's trying to convince others but that she is trying to convince herself. And she's taking so much action to insure that she escapes the life she once lived. But the logic is so backwards and flawed yet that doesn't matter because it's subjective logic. It was spoken into existence. That's logic that's only capable by the human mind. I love it.

I love this song 🎵 on so many personal levels....when I 1st heard it I KNEW I was gonna love it but when I deciphered the powerful lyrics by Emeli Sande I was touched in my spirit that moved me to tears 😢. I lost my 22 yr old son 2yrs ago 💔 and when she said "IF I'M SOMEBODY ELSE, IT NEVER HAPPEN TO ME" over and over as the vamp I couldn't hold back my emotions as I was driving down the road. I cried and cried and even though I'll NEVER know the love of a Mother for her child I can only express my feelings as a Father and it hurts so bad. So, reading other people's comments has been very therapeutic for me and I'm so thankful for the people who felt transparent enough to share their very intimate experiences and feelings.
