I so appreciate your sensitivity and understanding of how far reaching sexual abuse is!! I was abused by a youth leader and didn't tell my parents for 20 years. When I did, they chose not to say anything to protect his family! Also, I was married for 25 years before my eyes were opened to my husband's acts of abuse with our daughter and then later our granddaughter. He has never admitted any of it and he has had no consequences. My daughter then married a man that was an abuser. Our family is so dysfunctional and torn apart. I have, alone, tried to be there for everyone but now at 63, am unable to handle life myself. Sexual abuse of any kind changes your brain and therefore your decision making process. I am so thankful that through it all, God has drawn me (many times kicking and screaming) to Himself. I know God uses all for our good and His glory and this is what brings me comfort! Thanks again!

@janicecanady9814 - I am so sorry for all the horrific pain you and yours have had to endure. I think I'm one of the few people on earth who have lived outside of these dispicable and repugnant atrocoties, however, I do think I am an empathetic person and it breaks my heart to hear about people who endure such evil. I'm so glad to hear that you have kept your faith in Jesus. One day you will be released from the pain and suffering you've lived through, and for all eternity you will know the Love and Peace He intended for us all to live under. Meanwhile, He can, and I'm sure does, heal you; it might be here a little, and there a little, but keep your eyes on Him; vengengence is His 🤗 Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. 🙏🏼🙏🏼✝✝

Janice, I am so sorry. I understand you completely as I am a survivor as well. Someone who was abused this way by her pastor father told me once to remember that Jesus was watching and He was weeping. He did not cause this sin, Satan did. That has stuck with me ever since. I hope it can be a comfort to you. He loved the children and always called them to Himself because He was loving and gentle. He is our hope and one day we will be with Him in a place where no one can hurt us again. Cindy will be there too and many other abused women. But we will be whole and totally healed. Bless you sister.

Prayimg grandparents got me through. I never blamed Jesus church but the leaders that hid it. I am older now & have managed to leave the anger behind. He never repented. What you have to ask yourself is why you are so dead set on protecting and defending a pedophile. This pig continued to lie about what he did, and when the truth came out, he still lied- calling her a "young woman" when she was a little girl; and saying a "inappropriate relationship" when he groomed and molested a little girl and stuck his fingers inside her for almost FIVE YEARS. When she filed a civil suit against him in 2005, she only asked for $50,000, to cover the cost of lifelong therapy she has needed; Robert and his lawyers told her no- we'll give you $25,000, and you sign an NDA, agreeing to never tell anyone what was done to you. That is nowhere near asking for forgiveness or repentance. Jesus said it is better for a man to have a millstone hung around his neck and be tossed in the middle of the sea, than what He's gonna do to him, for hurting a child. Stop coddling pedophiles and start caring for the victims. It's sick minds like yours that kept this evil man in the pulpit for all these years.

God also wants Morris to make amends. He should never be in front of a congregation again unless it's to apologize. This son in law and daughter and the rest of his family are caught in the cross fire. If Morris was repentant he would've come totally clean years ago. Instead he referred to this as an affair with a young woman. In fact it is statutory rare when it involves a minor. Let's protect children and not preditors.

Are you serious? So are you saying the opinion of that innocent little girl does not matter? I am so sick of people saying if he asked for forgiveness that is enough. Well it is not. This "who are we to judge" nonsense is old and falling on deaf ears. Asking for forgiveness does not mean he is a changed man. Even in his admission, he tried to minimize the impact of his predatory actions. He attempted to blame the little girl, and yes, she was a girl, not a young lady. This predator caused irreparable damage, so no, asking God for forgiveness is not enough.

Thank you for addressing the fact that though God is a God of love and forgiveness, God IS a God of justice! Robert Morris has not truly repented; rather, he continues to deflect blame. However, "whatsoever a man sows, that he shall also reap!" My heart is so heavy for Cindy for the many years she suffered without support. Many of us who have been abused, have been victimized again by the church, who sides with the abuser; listens to and believes the narcissistic lies of the abuser. Jesus knows the truth! Luke 12: 2 reminds us that "there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known." For all the brokenhearted, Jesus has promised that He "will never leave us or forsake us." Keep clinging to the Lord through this horrific trial. Cindy is a living testimony of her faith in the Lord through this whole sordid time, bless her heart. Clinging to Jesus is what has helped me to heal from years of abuse. Isaiah 42:3 has always encouraged my heart. May this verse encourage many who are greatly suffering in these days: "A bruised reed He will not break. And a smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth." Thank you for sharing your thoughts in the midst of your own heartache. May the Lord be the "lifter of your head," as Psalm 3 encourages us all!

It is my understanding that he apologized 30 yrs ago, and that the church knew about it. Yes, he did wrong, but aren't we called to forgive as Christ forgives us? I know how difficult forgiving is in this situation having been horribly abused and cheated on myself for many yrs. God's grace is greater than the pain of the abuses. What bothers me most is the way some of Robert's closest friends have totally turned on him for something he did and repented of 30 yrs ago. Thank God that He doesn't treat us this way. Yes, we should have love and care for the abused, but we also must love those who have acted as our enemies. I pray that Jesus will grant to all His grace, mercy, forgiveness, love, and faith.

@@karenhatmaker7775 this needs to be a lesson on how to properly hold leaders accountable. The rush to forgive and restore the leader is so misguided. It's always about the leader needing to stay in our her back in the pulpit and victims are told to forgive and move on with their life. And if they struggle with that, they're not good Christians. The Church has so much work to do. This formula that you've laid out is the go to response for decades and it's the reason so many leaders have not been held accountable and so many victims struggle with what happened to them for years or even decades. Until the victims become the priority and the Church learns to truly bind up their wounds, no amount of restoration will matter.

He committed a sexual crime against a CHILD and never honestly disclosed what he did, asked forgiveness from his victim, or repented. He withheld the truth for all those years while continuing in ministry instead of being charged, convicted, and serving time. Had it been handled as it should have been, his victim would have had closure and healing. THAT is where our hearts should be - not giving a pass to someone who selfishly covered his sin instead of dealing truthfully.

When I heard this First thing ,I thought was Jesus words to the accusers of the woman caught in adultery, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Then I thought of king David, his sin of adultery with Bathsheba and his trying to cover over his sin, even to the death of her husband Uriah. Sin is sin and we need not brush it under a rug, I am not saying that. But God is a very merciful God and does forgive and restore what the locust has eaten, and we ALL need to remember that. And the other point is this, this is all from Satan to destroy the church, his family and to cause, at the least, great division, criticism and judgment. But each of us need to remember," For ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God", all of us! and failed the Lord and our families at times, some much worse than others. Jesus also told us, Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. I am praying for mercy from his church family and that great glory and good, and healing to come for those believers and spiritual growth. God can and will bring beauty from ashes for those who place their hope and faith in Him.

He didn’t care about his present, past or future family nor the child he was hurting. He didn’t care about God either or the consequences of his sick actions. He only care about himself. Sadly, there were at least 6 we know of that this happened to. Many of the church members blamed us. Many never spoke to our families again. He actually went on to preach at another church. We felt like we were the wrong ones. The way this church is handling this is the right way to do it. If this has ever happened to you, please talk with someone and get the help you need. It has gone on to affect my life and my marriages. But this is true for any molestation - not just a pastor.

To me it is very obvious after seeing the emails from the victim to RM in 2005, he had ample opportunities to make things right and consider the heartbreak he caused the victim. But he didnt - mayb it was his pride and the fact he was in such a high position, he thought he was invincible. He probably didnt want it exposed even back then, as often abusers love the power to cover their sin. If the sin was exposed, he knew he had committed a crime and so often told his congregations about his immorality with a young lady, not a 12 yr old girl. That has been plain deception, living a lie to the world for all these years. Very very sad!!!!

NOTE: pastor Robert repented, he was sanctioned by the church for 2 years. I am sure he was humiliated by his peers and Debbie probably thought of divorcing him. He asked forgiveness from her and her family ( especially her father) and church leaders, ( his sin was exposed in the light). Now to all true believers in CHRIST and HIS word. Go study what HE says about the removing and forgiving of sin. Because what I am seeing is " you sin you out", your transgression will be kept against you for ever. THE WORD says you will know them by their fruit, this transgression happened more then 35years ago, Cindy allowed it for 5years, yes I say allowed, she wasn't forced, it was petting and kissing, she was in a loving family, she knew he was married, and she only came forward after she spoke to a friend ( did the friend maby tell her you tell or I will, because the friend knew that both were to blame). To come back to the fruit I have seen Pastor Robert's fruit, Cindy on the other hand, well money seems to be the driving force, revenge for the fact that Robert is prospering and she is suffering, unforgiving spirit ( he already apologized 30 years ago). And jealousy he chose his marriage and Debbie over her. Did she ever apologize to Debbie for the affair, cause 17 is not a child anymore. And why did her father and her not go to the police when the sin was exposed 35 years ago. This is not a righteous move or exposing of sin by GOD, this is revenge and an horrible work of darkness orchestrated by satan himself. If David's, Abraham's, Moses ect sins has been kept against them where would we be. Maybe Cindy should not have gone for the money, but for reconciliation, maybe if she had truly forgiving Robert when he repented. Sought GOD instead of revenge, the kingdom of GOD would not be suffering violence. Also maybe we should be talking about what it means to be forgiven, after you have truly repented because what is the use of repentance and forgiveness if your sins will be held against you.

I (Linda) respectfully would like to say this happened 40 years ago. Since then, as far as I know he has not continued in this sin.. The American Church is soft. We have yet to learn what the forgiveness of God is. It is easy to sit in judgment on one and not the other. I understand this went on for 5 years. She said her parents knew about it. Obviously, they did not know about it until many years later. Why 40 years later? I am sorry, but the victim is not pure in this. At first, yes in the beginning, but now? If we didn't need a Savior, we wouldn't have one. If we didn't need a Redeemer, God wouldn't have given us one. If we didn't have a Deliverer we wouldn't have one. We live in a battleground. The Church is terrible at destroying their own wounded. This whole situation at the root is a grievance between 2 people. I question the intentions of the 50 plus year old victim. This should have been dealt with years ago. Jesus gave instructions in Matthew 18. There is a process. The Church is negligent in following the Word of God concerning these things. If God forgives, then who are we to not forgive? A mature person in the Lord will forgive and move on. People who leave the Lord because of what another does to them are spiritually immature and refuse to trust God. When we idolize men, they will fail us. When we worship God and keep our focus on the Lord, we will grow in grace and favor with the Lord. I trust that God will bring healing on all levels in this. Just as King David committed adultery with Uriah's wife, Bathsheba, who became pregnant with his child, and then David killed Uriah using the enemy to do it, God sent a prophet to confront him with his sin. David's immediate reaction was repentance. it is amazing that even under the Law of Moses, God did not remove David from his position and order him to be stoned. There were consequences that effected his family, but he remained King and is still honored as being in the Messianic Family Line. REPENTENCE IS NOT AN EMOTION, IT IS A CHANGE OF BEHAVIOUR. This has been seen over the years in Robert Morris's ministry. I am not saying he is perfect or pure, but neither is the other party. FORGIVENESS IS BIG WITH GOD. WE NEED TO GROW UP AND BECOME THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS HE HAS CALLED US TO BE. We must remember these people are part of the Family of God and pray for healing and wholeness for all involved. We must lift up the person who had this happen to her and her family, and the Morris family that these things can be remedied according to the wisdom of God and not the laws of man.

Changed behavior???? 😂 Are you serious? He gave a sermon many times on Jake’s Motel that he dedicated his life to God in 1981 ROOM 12. He said that he may have sinned but he never returned to sexual sin! He said if you were saved when you were 8 and you sinned sexually in your teens, that your salvation was not real like his wife Debbie. He said Debbie’s salvation was real at 8 because she was a true believer during her teen years. He said that he turned in 1981 and that’s when he was actually saved because he didn’t turn back to his son knowing dang well he did what he did from 1982-1987! He preached this over and over! I was thinking for years that I wasn’t truly saved when I was 10. He said my family was cursed because we weren’t tithing. We started tithing! I reached out to gateway for help from my cheating ex husband! The pastoral care made excuses for my ex and made me feel as if it was my fault! They made excuses for the cheater!!!!! This would be totally different had he been honest and said that he was “saved” in Jake’s hotel and fell back into sexual sin, but he didn’t! He made us feel that our salvation wasn’t real! This is not a man who changed! Everyone let him preach room 12 over and over, making people feel like their childhood baptism wasn’t real! There’s something wrong with this on soooooo many levels! Unbelievable that anyone would say this! How inconsiderate of the victim! It’s so hard to come out because you are afraid of people like you!!!!! This is not God’s fault, this is a man’s fault! He lied for years! We also went to a 911 couples counseling after another affair with my ex. That couples home group also blamed me, “the wife” and made excuses of my ex with his porn addiction! There is no sin that God did not forgive on the cross , both small and big . Robert Morris has repented before God, and I believe God has forgiven him. But the church will not . I know he has to face the consequences of his actions. But the church should be about restoration of the victim and offender . Let’s go to the word and see how the Bible handle it Forgiveness is the 🔑 as God has forgiven us . The same measure you give will be used against you. Again, let the lord comfort the victim and church, let’s not destroy each other , but know that we have an enemy. Lets tender grace , for by grace we are saved, not works . ❤️

If robert morris is of the lord he will remain if he is not then unless he repent he will not but as for me i know this pastor robert morris is one whom God has used for his glory so if i was you i would ask God what you think you should say about him. But dont say what God will not be pleased with i think robert morris made a huge mistake just like Adam and Eve when they sinned against God. Adam amd Eve though they may have received forgiveness they still payed the price. God is always up to something and remember that God is willing to guide pastore Robert Morris if he will repent. Let God be judge between me and you. Lastly remember David though he was a righteous God-fearing man he sinned against God in a way that was so bad yet when he repented God guided and restored him. Though you condem a man God wont, though you hate a man, God won't, though we sin agaisnt God hos love is forever and his forgiveness is greater than anything. So i will not worry about pastor Robert Morris if he is walking in repentance and truly serving God. In two years i would love to see how this matter is, and how God would bring about a good conclusion. May the God of good justice be merciful yet bring peace to both sides. Amen

Many are beginning to see how God will say, Depart from me, I never knew you, to those who said, Didn't I do miracles in your name, and worked healings, prophesied.....Amazing isn't it. Too many think giftings mean the person took time to actually know who he was supposed to be working for. That should be a warning to us all.

The pastor recognized this situation, asked for forgiveness, was removed from ministry, faced the parents and at the time the girl. More than 40 YEARS have passed since this situation happened. This unfortunate situation came already to light and exposed a long time ago. And here is the question. WHY this thing is coming out once again? Is not this already confronted and resolved? Why this women is coming publicly NOW? Out there there's a spirit in these type of circumstances in which not letting go and destroying lives forever is the ultimate purpose. Including victims. A non reversible mindset where condemnation and shame will never go away. A whole movement drowned in hatred that is willing to go more than 50 years ago and bring to life with the ultimate purpose of performing assasination. Let's not rush into join the lines of virtue signaling where most people run to to gain morale standard for others to see. Instead, let's open our eyes and see what our Lord taught us. To see the intentions of the heart.

Well you asked for comments so here's my thought :God bless Robert Morris and family. What just seems a little odd for me is that Cindy had years of therapy which she requested $25,000 and then later $50,000 to cover her therapy. And now 40 years later they're still is no healing or forgiveness on her part. But her final act was let me destroy the entire Morris family instead of letting God be the one who deals out justice. Do you know how many Christian people have been molested in their past but yet have gone on to become overcomers and productive members in the family of God because they forgave and trusted God to bring healing and justice? The amount is staggering...

What I’m waiting to see is the church reaching out to pastor Robert and Debbie to acknowledge their redemption they worked through and embraced and believed in Jesus’s forgiveness. How could they have served feeling guilty or shameful? They believed in their forgiveness. They committed to serving the church. They’ve done this for decades. It’s like we are judging this act and refusing to be Christ’s love towards Robert and Debbie. Don’t you see that outwardly loving Robert and Debbie will not lessen their consequences?? I’ve not heard one supportive statement to them. This is not a reflection of Christ’s love. 😢

Sin pollutes everyone regardless of how long it’s hidden. God’s word is clear that we reap what we sow at sometime for the things we do. We repent and God forgives but we aren’t clear and free of all consequences. Especially when it’s grievous sins against the innocent and vulnerable. God’s Holiness and Righteousness will prevail in all things! Prayers for all suffering as result of this truth being exposed, we as believers need to offer grace and mercy because God’s justice is at work and throwing insults and our own judgements at the family who are also victims of his sin doesn’t help. Robert Morris and his wife have to deal with the consequences of this. I can ask myself the questions about why and how but regardless of how I think should’ve, could’ve and would’ve, we need to remember but for the grace of God there go I. 😢🙏

Yet Paul has a lot to say about people like RM. He needs to never be in ministry again. His victim or victims need to be held up in prayer and encouragement. They have the burden of carrying this with them for the rest of their lives. Counseling and good therapy is very helpful but it cannot erase the memories. It is not a panacea for the lifelong wounds. In my own case, when I had to tell a therapist what had been done to me starting at age 3, I was in my forties. No one had ever believed me. I was terrified to tell a stranger. But when I was believed, I cried. It was a gift! That was just a starting place but I was reassured of my courage along the journey toward healing. Many tears have been shed, much anger processed, but healing has taken place over 20 years. I still have memories and PTSD along with depression. I am not whole yet, I am now 72. My home in heaven will bring me wholeness, face to face with my Savior. What a day that will be.

Robert Morris's sin is not having asked forgiveness to the person he hurt. I'm sure God prompted him to do so, but because it meant legal repercussions he did not do it. God forgave him and God has used him, but like David, I'm sure the guilt has been there. Joyce Meyers suffered abuse from her father for years. God told her to forgive and she was healed as I hope this woman will be also.

I just keep feeling that the Church, globally, needs to enter a season of repentance & that anyone & everyone in leadership at Gateway needs to be on their faces before the Lord asking for forgiveness & healing. It is sackcloth & ashes time! There is something systemic that allowed a wolf in sheep's clothing to dwell safely among the flock. Yes, joy comes in the morning following the grieving process.

You ended this video well, there are consequences to sin and we need to acknowledge what Cindy and so many hidden victims are suffering. The kingdom of God is based on God's love, forgiveness, justice, true repentance, redemption, restoration, reformation and restitution. God is still a God of love and forgiveness, but he is also a God of justice. This is what the Church continually forgets. Judgment starts in the house of the Lord. King David (as a spiritual leader of Israel representing God) loved God, he was a man after God's heart but he had consequences for his actions with Bathsheba and what he did unknown to Bathsheba. There were consequences to himself but also for his family because of his sin with Bathsheba (their baby died no matter how much David cried out, repented, ate no food, wailed, prayed, laid on the ground, etc.). An innocent child, his child experienced death for his sin. Then the deception he perpetuated against his faithful servant, Bathsheba's husband Uriah in having him murdered, killed in battle. The battle that King David should have been participating in with his army against the enemy. It was in the time when kings went out to war the scripture says. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time that temptation was birthed and acted upon resulting in sexual sin (adultery), then creating the deceptive plan to murder Bathsheba's husband Uriah in the war/battle; the battle that David as the king should have been at leading his army. God knew all that David did and didn't do. God sent Nathan the prophet to proclaim to David that because of the sins he committed that he would always have a sword in his house and the word of the Lord came to pass. The torment in his family was relentless. God was still the same God, but there are consequences. Lets also remember what his daughter Tamar suffered. She never received the restoration, restitution, justice she deserved from David her father after she was raped by a family member, her half brother Amnon. We can also learn lessons from the New Testament, Ananais and Sapphira. Lets really meditate and pray about what God is trying to speak to the Church again and again regarding sexual abuse by church leaders and other sins kept hidden. Jesus stood in the midst of 7 churches in the Book of Revelation 2-3. He warned the spiritual leaders in those churches of the sin that was happening . "...He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches..."
