I had been dreaming about my best friend who OD a couple of years ago. Were best friends since I was 8 and Stevie was 6. Nobody had more fun growing up than we did. 45 years ago was a great time to grow up. Then we had an even better time in the 90s when we were often the "barrons of the bars" as my dad would call us. 😂 We could go anywhere and were always welcomed. Mostly because of Steve. He was a great guy that no one ever had a bad word to say about him. RIP My Friend. I'm sure we'll see each other sooner rather than later. Save me a seat at the bar. 🍻

So sad, and as much as it's frustrating that Plant was never willing to reunite Zeppelin, I totally get it. I still miss Bonzo very much, never got over his loss and the demise of the band
@HollisDuty6014 күн бұрын
He had some hard years. First his son died of a stomach virus, and then Jimmy and Bonzo’s addictions impacted the personal relationships. With Bonzo’s death, it was just too much. He continues to speak of missing John, and he has continued to speak of missing Karac. During his solo career he wrote several songs about Karac. I would have loved for them to continue with Jason Bonham but, it’s never going to happen other than the few reunions, the best of which was 2007 Celebration Day. I’m just glad we have the music, videos, and that final concert. I’ve been a Zep fan since 1969 and will be for the rest of my life. I lived during the best era of music ever 1960’s - mid-1980’s.

Losing a child has to be the biggest hurt a person can ever feel. My best friend's middle son died a few years ago, and I swear I don't see how she didn't lose her mind. Then to have Bonzo die in such a senseless way had to be the straw that broke the camel's back. I can totally understand why he didn't have the desire to continue with the band. 😢💔

An avid Zeppelin fan since the early '70's, I greatly anticipated the 1980 tour. THE NIGHT BEFORE BONHAM DIED, I HAD A VIVID DREAM OF BEING AT THE CONCERT... BONHAM COLLAPSED ON THE DRUM KIT IN MID SONG...THE OTHER MEMBERS STOPPED PLAYING...THEN THE LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE CONCERT HALL... Then I woke up, ate breakfast, then got a call from a close friend to turn on the radio... They were announcing Bonham's sudden death the night before! This is my personal testimony and I swear to God it's TRUE! Always love listening to Zeppelin, always will. John Henry Bonham, RIP. ❤️

I really can't think of another rock band that felt this way; each member being an equal part of a whole. That they just couldn't continue if one died. Rush may be the only other band that shared that sentiment. But, Rush had been together for such a long time and were just too old to start with a new drummer anyway, so it's hard to say for sure if they would have done the same thing if Neal Peart died 30 years sooner.

Unfortunately, John was a very thirsty guy. All be it completely by accident the booze took his life. All three band members took John's death hard. John was an obvious leader. A real heavy weight on the drum kit who kept what was his perfect time and never ever added to to much. I think you said it was 1980. We were on this deluxe sleeper bus which the school owned. We were on our way home from a weekend at Whistler Mountain skiing. Many of you have heard of Whistler for a couple of reasons. Number 1 it is a first-class ski resort. It's a huge mountain and has many runs for your skiing ability. Number 2 when the Olympics were in Vancouver, Whistler held the slalom Super G and the very prestigious downhill. It was around 6pm in the dead dark of winter. The bus hit black ice while crossing an old wooden bridge. Mr Pitee did a great job of controlling the bus and we were all okay. Ted you did a great job. The radio was on 92.9 6🎉 classic rock station. When people quited, that's when we heard John Bonnam was dead. Quite a shock that made all of us at least temporarily forget about our near miss on the bridge. The where were you when _ happened. Those of you who can remember let me know what you were doing. This is right up there with John Lenons sudden murder.

Also can be an excuse of Plant that he struggled with his voice. I think he was not a really trained singer, like Ian Gillan or Adele nowadays. I read that Jimmy was so stoned that he didn't even know where he was. The addiction really took a toll on him, even on stage. As for JPJ, I think he was on holiday with his wife. Nonetheless, I think he certainly announced that he wasn't coming, or at least said after a while that he was sorry he couldn't be there for some reason. He's never been a guy who doesn't turn up without saying a word before or after. You have to consider the state JP was in at the time, you can't fight addiction that easily.
