As a gen-z mexican-american, my Robert Rodriguez movies growing up were all of his family movies, so listening to him talk about them means a lot to me. Great job on this episode guys, it was amazing!

City of God is AMAZING! I am so haaaappy to see you taking about it. Truly. I can talk about this film for hours! Well, We Brazilian don’t talk about Gwyneth Paltrow winning Best Actress for Shakespeare in Love over the Goddess Fernanda Montenegro(Central Station) in 1999. It’s a sensitive subject for us.

Nicholson and Day-Lewis were neck and neck for all the precursors that year, hilarious how Brody was pretty much the result of the votes completely splitting lol (i do think he was a worthy winner)

Agree about the dummy Jake. Honestly, you can find so many continuity errors in Scorsese's films, but I think now they just add to how good they are.

I wanna watch the new spy kids. I can just tell from his talking about it whether it’s here or other interviews that making this was a great experience. Because the fourth one was made purely out of a contract that Harvey had on Robert.

Congrats on the nomination! What's the actual category called? +1 for the Casino mention! It's probably my favorite Scorsese movie. The style, the setting, and especially the characters are so alive to me. And where Goodfellas peters out a bit towards the end, Casino goes on relentlessly. I just enjoy the set-up more in Casino compared to Goodfellas. Everything happens to Henry and he's not in control. In Casino, you are watching the main players being in full control, even Sharon Stone's character, who's probably giving the best performance of the film. And the pacing, it's just non-stop enthralling. I always laugh about the doll shot in the car in the beginning. It's not like it's a film from the 70s, but it's 1995. They could have easily moved the doll digitally to at least be in the same position that De Niro is in! I'm curious to know what happened there. Maybe it was a mistake in filming and they couldn't go back anymore, or they just didn't care?
