Jay Johnson shares his knowledge and experience from facilitating effective meetings in corporate boards, municipal governments, and nonprofit entities. Focusing on Robert's Rules of Order and Parliamentary Procedure, Jay explores best practices for leading and engaging in productive meetings with purpose and efficiency.
Conducted for the Junior Chamber International (JCI) as well as a variety of local and national nonprofits; the learnings can be applied from main street to wall street.

That was an extremely helpful workshop! As a board member I was not aware of all the tools available to keep a meeting on task and in order. I am going to re-watch this and take notes! Thank you! This was very effective!

I have heard that the Chair cannot have an option when running a meeting. Where is the rule in Roberts that says this? thank you.

Where is the best place in the meeting to insert free discussion. For example, if you just want to talk about certain things that necessarily doesn’t need to be voted on but stuff that just needs to be put out in the air for people to think about and talk about and then maybe the next meeting stuff can be voted on.

Special work session (or whatever your org calls them) either open or closed depending on the topics. With these, you can achieve consensus direction for the next voting meeting.
