OMG. It should be illegal for a man to be this fabulous a danseur and be good-looking and look so great in tights! I think this is Nureyev's choreography, but it has so many cute little nuances. And Sylive---did anyone else count her fouettes? She alternates single/single/double and single/single/single/double throughout the whole section and is never off the music. The video that has clips of her with Legris and Letestu just makes you feel like the conductor is fighting the dancers. I wish the conductor had been credited here because if this is not John Lanchberry, it's someone who is nearly as good a dance conductor. Thanks so much for this pdd!

Always when watching Guillem I feel like she's the only dancer to have existed after Plisetskaya

that little stunt that he does while en releve in the beginning...is one of the best things that i have ever seen a male dancer do. absolutely LOVE him...but of course...the real star of this show..is my dearest sylvie.

I like the pattern in which Guillem inserts the double fouettés; it ensures that she remains on the music. This is much more intelligent and sensitive than what most ballerinas do.

no puedo creer como no lo aplauden cuando bolle comienza con ese arabesque tan bien controlado y esa media punta tremenda que todo bailarin quisiera tener

i totally agree with tutugirl4life...after i saw that i had to watch it a few times just to make sure that my eyes weren't playing tricks on me. after watching this video for the first time, months ago, he automatically became my fav. male dancer.

Wow! Tours to the right AND left! That's something you'll never see a Russian dancer do - they don't even bother doing centre across the floor combinations from the left in class...I've taken enough professional level classes with enough of them to notice this disdain for working any combination from the left - the Russian men seem particularly contemptuous of it.

Roberto Bolle's balance in arabesque is great. -- Sylvie Guillem is great to watch and what an extension. -- I would have been able to enjoy this clip more, if the person taping could have held the camera still. But, thanks anyway. Much appreciated.

@rivombreuse you're right, Bolle dances Nureev's version of Basil's solo, except for the introduction; the rest of the pas de deux is quite like the traditional verion. If anybody wants to see Rudolf's Pas de deux complete, look after Manuel Legris and Aurelie Dupont at POB's Don Quixote.

@fabiesque I have to agree with you. In this performance, at any rate, he is not really dancing with much verve or flair. He seems a bit detached. I see other clips of him here, though, where he is more convincing.

ch, forget sports, look at this!!!!! lifting ballerinas>lifting weights, plus you need balance, plus you need grace, plus you need artistry. it hurts me to think that some people feel that ballet is easier than sports.

@rlion2005 actually, this IS DQ.... it's nureyevs version. I agree with you I think it's terrible... i never liked any of rudys choreographies... at least not when other people dance it...

I love Sylvie, but this is far from being her best performance... to slow and she seems a little bit unmotivated

well I was there in that evening. Roberto is technically impeccable but sorry people how can you say HE IS THE BEST?!?!!? What about the character and the temperament required for this role? He is just soooo not exciting! Ballet goes beyond the steps executed immacutely....ballet is an art....the acting is very important!!! And that is why I can assure you on that evening nobody "cared" about him and all the attention was on Sylvie!!!!

Hmmm, I wasn't there, but I heard the applause, so much about not caring about him. Best to try keep your opinion to yourself, you don't represent other people.
