Talking of 1970s yesterday, Foxy - - I watched a documentary about making the 1971 movie SHAFT. The costume designer outfitted the star in leather because the script had several night scenes, and leather photographs well at night because of 1) the leather gloss, and 2) ripples on leather surfaces when your body moves. The camera can trace the moving figure in night scenes by the rhythm of the leather rippling and then smooth tight and then rippling again. Another history I researched years ago: Leather-wear has decadent/pleasure overtones now because during and after WWII, leather was scarce and rationed - - and during the War leather was considered functional. By the 1960s, leather was widely available again, and seemed like a decadent luxury after years of rationing, or even futuristic. So trendy spy movies and action heroines, like 'Modesty Blaise' or 'Emma Peel' or 'Cathy Gale', were wearing leather catsuits and ('Barbarella') blackleather boots. Ever since that history, leather now has pleasurable decadent overtones, not just functional and hard-wearing. Other, primal reasons too relate to Power-dressing, dominance, and definite Freudian symbolism in kneeboots, but everybody knows about that these days. 8:10 "I'm not sure if these boots are good to wear in the office, because they bring too much attention..." Well, only until you get promoted to an executive with your own office, Foxy, when you can decide office dress-code! (There's a behavioral theory around office dress-code, maybe subject for another post?)

I have to say I take a look to the Roberto Cavalli webpage the other day and I really didn't like the boots and specially the heel, is original of course and cool but I was thinking if they were comfy to walk. So after watching the video I see the heels seem comfy to walk even with that curve shape, they look nice in black leather even when they are not fit to the leg, from all your collection there are not exactly my favorites but you have something different and that is always a good choice for new outfits. I like the split on the back, is something that I always like to see in overknee boots, don't ask me why I just like how it looks.
