Senior Group Documentary representing Antilles High School from Puerto Rico in the 2014 National History Day competition; this year's theme is Rights and Responsibilities. It covers Roberto Clemente's struggle for recognition in Major League Baseball as well as his humanitarian efforts.

These amazing players were not paid that much like todays players but they also did not cheat with steroids. I like these guys better .Roberto clemente was all natural best of the best rip

yo estuve presente dos dias antes de la trajedia Roberto nos hizo una clinica de base ball en el parque colon de aguadilla donde hasta este dia estan presente los tres home runs que batio antes lo mejor de los pitchers de la triple A.Si se comunican conmigo les doy la historia de lo que paso en esa clinica,estupendo

This white man loved Roberto Clemente Walker as well as many others. Let us look at some good things concerning this Latino man. He has a museum/library devoted to him in Pittsburgh, When many white men who did great things in Baseball do not. Roberto, Along with a number of other players, have statues erected in their honor, With many white athletes who did well and were honorable, that have none! He was honored with posthumous election into the Baseball Hall Of Fame soon after his death, waiving the five year waiting period that most likely would not just happen for some white player who died, maybe, maybe not, supposition abounds, His Baseball Cards and other memorabilia are through the roof and I could purchase Nolan Ryan, Al Kaline, And other white greats for a fraction of what his go for, sounds like some white folk as well as many others kind of love(d) the guy! Nevertheless! Let us focus just a wee bit on some positives, shall we!

@ Joe Black .........He is recognized more for his many ....many off the field exploits . He was willing to risk his life to help people from another country irregardless of skin color ....whether you were white ....black .....etc etc. He loved people but most of all kids and was moved by wanting to see change. People tend to gravitate to folks who do great things for the greater good of man kind. We all love nolan ryan .....roger clemens .....but all I really hear about them are their amazing accomplishments on the field .....maybe stop by a hospital or two...... take pics with people that are sick. All great stuff but it's hard to see these multi millionaires spend time in 3rd world countries feeding a village without cameras rolling or help build homes on their own and not working for some 3rd party foundation . The modern day athlete can win all the awards in the world but the athlete that does great things under wraps is an athlete of god. Football QB Carson Wentz is a great example of a great athlete who does very good things underwraps.

Yes, they "kind of love him now". But they "kind of hated him then". I'm talking about the media. About his posthumous election into the Hall of Fame; well, the same happens in the military. They deserve it, so did Clemente. Besides, the video is not about things in baseball, white, or yellow players did. It is about his struggles with racism. Everybody knows that he was loved by many white people. To this date he's still be loved by many more. The thing was that they couldn't show that love then. But now they can.

His worst struggle was he didnt speak English, he was a lonner the other players neglected him, in a way, and he was black he wasn't aloud in the rest. He had to stay on the bus, cause the segregation .but was and still our orgullo borikua, never forgotten, RIP. Thanks.
