It wouldve been a great match up. Ive seen people saying that castillo and maidana gave floyd trouble - and their style is similar to duran. I disagree. Duran fights on the inside in such a way - i didnt see any fighters in floyd's era fight. He would wrestle his opponent - close range for position, and than bang even by gripping an arm and he was a master in his art. Its all about the fighters and their style. It could go either way - but i tend to go with duran UD. Floyds methods are predicated on countering the opponents - duran would work close but wouldt throw random shots - he would oppose his strength and bang the inside - just like he did in the 1st leonard fight. Before people will say how humiliating the 2nd fight with leonard was - let me remind you that leonard fought a 180 degree differently, in such a way that floyd could not. If im looking and judging the fab4 - hearns was the worst match up for floyd, and than duran. Both of them wouldnt give him a chance to use his style (countering at close range) effectively. Hearns wouldnt even come close because he can reach floyd from a different zipcode with his jab, plus he was faster at 147. I doubt that floyd could damage tommy enough if he went after him the way hagler did. About leonard vs floyd, hard to say. Feels very competitive.

Duran is a bad style matchup for Floyd. Floyd went life and death with Castillo and Maidana. Duran is slicker, smarter, faster, more powerful, more stamina, then both Castillo/Maidana put together

Mayweather is a defensive genius, love him or hate him.....Duran is one of the greatest fighters of all time....let's leave it at that.

Problem with Mayweather was more than his defence. Plenty of people have landed punches on him, but he has a damn stone jaw too. So the problem isn't getting a punch through it was getting multiple through to his chin. Few managed that after he really committed to that style.

The thing is, this works for Duran. A guy who had bricks for hands. The constant touching would make Floyd progressively more uncomfortable and make more errors. A normal fighter’s hands wouldn’t have the same effect. Golovkin had the same effect. So did Foreman. So you just keep touching. Touch them everywhere because anywhere it hurts. Some people just have that. In 20 years of boxing, I felt that exactly twice. Thank goodness my skill levels were way above.

Throwing 2-3 punches on the same side is the only way to get through this. Mayweather rolls with the punches left-right-left-right preparing for the left to follow the right and the right to follow the left.... when you throw multiple punches from the same side it throws him off. Maidana had some success with it but he didn't use it enough he kept throwing a looping overhand but Mayweaher caught on. The 2-3 punches from the same hand is the only way to take this defense away. Rex Gordon who worked under Ray Arcel taught me this.

Ive heard Roberto say that he has no business attacking the head. If he were to fight Mayweather in both primes, he would destroy the ribs. He even says that a fake to the head allows mayweather to do the shoulder roll but that exposes the ribs, and constantly attacking him to the body would slow down or even stop mayweather. That's something i heard and immediately saw Mayweather's fight and its true no opponent attacked him consistently to the body. They all went to the head and tried to ko him from head shots. My coach once told me that roberto had brutal power but his conditioning would play out too since he fought in the 15 rounds era. He said if they fought it would be like maidana vs mayweather, except more power more speed and more ring iq, and instead of a head attack he would go for the body.
