I've seen Robin quite a few times as well starting in 1975. For me , the best trio was Robin with Jimmy RIP and Bill Lordan on drums. I also saw him in 2015 in my home town a small venue of @ 800 seats with a really young rhythm section and at 70 Robin could still bring it....🎼🎵🎶🎤🎸

This wonderful concert is from July 1973 and the album "Bridge of Sighs" was released in April of the following year. This explains why "Day of the Eagle" has different lyrics and a certain mismatch between the band. But it was only the first song. Afterwards they treated us to the wonderful music that this trio always delivered.

I think yall old timers just forgot how to find good music or something, I mean there's plenty of inventive and authentic bands out there today, they've just been pushed lower on in the general industry because of predatory label/industry exec practices. I don't listen to anything that has autotune in it myself, but I still listen to plenty of bands from today and many other decades but it's equal so it's not like it prefer it one way or the other, I just like music of all genres. Or if you just like the 70s sound, you can say that instead of acting like all modern music "autotune garbage". You mention the 70s specifically but the 60s, 50s, 40s, etc didn't have autotune either.

@@PlagueRattI love the old folks that say there isn’t good music anymore. They were lucky to live in a time where artistry was rewarded and this music was “pop” music so it was promoted and encouraged. There are so many incredible psychedelic, and heavy bands still reinventing the wheel but you have to find them and SUPPORT them cause no major labels or radio station is gonna do it.

Pretty much all my friends told me Rob was a copyist from early on. Yes he loves the Blues like so many but I’ve never heard any guitarist playing like Robin. He is unique and so very talented. Totally LOVE this gig and rip Jimmy Dewar and Reg Isidor. Great band, all three top class musicians.
@chriskroll4166

People used to say that he was nothing but a Hendrix rip off but if you look at his catalog he never did a Hendrix song. He is pure blues . The only covers he ever did back in the seventies was a BB King song and a Bobby bland song otherwise it was all original but no Hendrix. But if you play BB King and Otis Rush runs through a marshall stack with assorted pedals it just sounds like Hendricks and you can't help it. If anything Stevie Ray Vaughan and Frank Marino were the Hendrix copy cats . But even they had lots of originality but Robin was a total originator. 😊

@@richtomlinson7090 I have seen Hendrix at Isle of Wight festival (i'm not a young one and i was there for the five days!!!), a few weeks before his tragic death, i have seen Trower in 1976 in Paris (France), and i have seen S R Vaughan in Paris too! Unfortunately SRV was almost totally drunk and talked more than played! It was very regrettable because i traveled a long distance for see him! I appreciate each musicians and all have/had different style, and there were more similarities between Hendrix and SRV for their funky side, which doesn't really appears into Trower play. Trower is (like Paul Kossoff) a "slow" player, able to make you cry with only one simple note! They aren't many on this guitar "market" able to do that nowadays! The three was/is great, and hopefully Trower is still alive, certainly the one who never abuse of magic powder, cause music is his unique energy! Thanks and congratulations to him for all the hours of pleasures he gaves to us!

My Idea is they changed the lyrics later on since this was probably a very early performance about a year prior to “Bridge of Sighs” release

I mean no dis-respect to the Spiritual Master of the Guitar, Jimi Hendrix but Robin Trower went a 1,000, 000 times beyond that!

Trower was a disciple of Jimi. Surely he'd disagree. Many of Robin's riffs,. and chord voicings were lifted right off of Jimi's fingerboard. Ironically, Jimi would probably agree with you. That's how humble he was. He idolized people, besides Dylan, like Terry Kath, and John Fogerty.

Trower was basically taking Jimi's formula and refining it. Technique-wise and tone-wise ... As a slew of other players were doing (or at least trying to do) in the post-Hendrix era. Still for nearly a decade nobody could really make their own mark until EVH arrived. But to Trower's credit, he stood the test of time and created his own legacy. Jimi clone or not, he's still amazing.

@@funkster007It's slightly tighter, funkier and a bit more contemporary than what Hendrix did. Music made a significant stylistic shift two ,three years after Jimi's unfortunate demise.
