I still think he was extremely creepy and underrated in more dark roles like One Hour Photo, Death to Smoochy & Insomnia, all in one year! Amazing actor, he was capable of doing comedies, dramatic roles, adventure movies and dark roles in an amazing way

Poor Robin, he was the epitome of a Sad Clown, always cracking jokes to mask his deep depression and loneliness. Rest in peace, O Captain, my captain! 😇💔

I would argue he did not mask it. It was there for all to see if they would look. I saw it the few times I met him and in all his on-camera roles. I feel and think he tried to make others laugh and feel joy, so they would not have to feel like he did. Sadly, dementia addled his mind to the point he did what he did, but I still respect and admire the man for his heart and soul. I hope someday I can honestly say I am 1% the man he was.

He saved more, he told those who others saw as weird that I don't give a damn, to be who you are proudly, to be you....and to make others happy and smile if you can...to help others that can't help them self or can't smile yet...heh I just hope he can see how loved he was and how much he meant to so many, im glad so many loved him and his message and life effected so many...i think he would be happy to know that....remember his lessons..make someone smile who needs it...always be there for those who need it..show love when no one else does...and always be you in a good way, he stays alive in all of us...remember it.

I believe that he didn't know just how much happiness he'd given the world...not by choice, of course. It's important to always remember him, the way he was, and how he made people feel. There isn't another actor like him, and there probably won't be. He's a product of his time, a relic of an era where all that mattered, was living the moment and making it yours. There won't ever be another like him, no matter how funny or unconventional someone is. To be that charismatic, with that much range...Is otherworldly. He was comedy.

It was his ability to tap into people's emotions at any age that earned him love. From his hilarious comedies to his darkest dramatic performances, his honesty and playfulness pulled the viewers into the role. Honesty, The Survivors with Walter Matthau is still one of my favorites of his. His breakdown at the end was so human - "Tell me things are going to work out, Sonny." crying and smiling at the same time. He was a genius with flaws he wasn't afraid to own and we're better for it. I cried the day he died and still do on occasions like this. There will never be another 'Robin Williams', but that's OK - he gave us what we needed. Everything.

The year he passed hurt me so much. Two idols in my life passed away within a week of each other. My grandfather, who I was closest with, and Robin Williams. Robin was my favorite actor growing up. I own most of his movies and rewatch them from time to time. Quite a few of them I saw with my grandfather. This man has and always will be a huge part of me and I will never forget him. His best movie, to me, will always be "What Dreams May Come". A beautiful film and only Robin Williams could do it justice.

One of my favorite pieces of movie trivia is with Good Will Hunting. Robin adlibbed the part where he talks about how his wife farted in her sleep, and the camera is shaking up and down a little bit because the cameraman was laughing so hard. That's the genius of Robin's comedy, it's so unpredictable.

I don't care what critics say but I adore both Bicentennial Man and What Dreams May Come. Both are beautiful stories where life and humanity are the main driving force of the stories (I still exist...). This tribute made me tear up again. Robin Williams has been such an essential part of my childhood and losing him in such a sad and depressing manner...I admit that his later output wasn't so great (we know now why...) which made me sort of dismiss him but when the news came through that had taken his own life...that truly hurt and I just felt awful. We, the audience, had abandoned him when he needed us the most. I am so sorry, Robin. You deserved better from us.

Terry Gilliam's description of Robin "..from manic, mad, to tender and vulnerable.." was imo pretty much spot on. Especially the vulnerable part. Which some of us had to read between the lines but did show quite clearly from time to time. I would recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it, the compilation of interviews with Craig Ferguson; The Best Interview In The History of Television, on KZfaq; the chemistry between those two was gold. Just watched video this for the first time, I loved everything in this including the rundown of his early and famous work. When you started mentioning his death and his impact on the world, I was holding back tears. The ending screen of his picture with his birth year and death year is when I couldn’t hold it in anymore. I just couldn’t help it, the man was the whole reason I want to be an impressionist, the reason I want to entertain people, the whole reason I want to become a voice actor. I’m only in high school right now and this man has helped me shape the kind of person I want to be. My dad was lucky enough to have seen him when he did early stand up. I miss him so much, I don’t even know him, but I just feel the world is a bit more dark without Robin Williams in our lives. RIP Robin 😢 You’re free now

I will never ever forget this man, he brought so much laughter and happiness to my childhood. This was a perfect tribute video for him, brought tears to my eyes. I hope Zelda, Zachary, and Cody and all see this video someday.

As someone whos depression and misery is because they lack things like wealth and family and love and affection. Its really heartbreaking to see someone with all of that still struggle with wanting to live when they have everything to live for. I spend everyday trying to find a reason to go on. Rip robin. We keep going for you.

he's the man that ultimately inspired me to start doing voices & various accents. i'm much too nervous to ever get up on an actual stage & do a routine, but i'm happy making my close friends & family laugh. i wish i could thank him for every thing he gave to me & others through his fantastic performances. i'll always watch my favorite films of his on august 11th. he'll always live on through those films. the genie is finally free...
