People keep asking WHY in the comments. I get it. It's a lot of work for little returns. Here's my answer: If you don't see the point, you don't need it. But those of you working on bigger productions will know why more flexibility in compositing is so valuable.

Really liked the video but I wanted to see why you used layers. I assume the point is to be able to adjust layers separately after rendering. So whatever is the reason for this approach, I think it's good to let people know what the idea behind it is and they themselves can decide if they need that or not.
@robinsquares

@@yanni2311Why render layers: You can re-render one layer at a time. It helps with integrating footage. It increases flexibility in compositing. It saves VRAM on big scenes. It helps when dividing workload.

I know WHY, but seeing it would also be cool and entertaining. You showed the process of compositing really spot on. I think you should also make a video showing how you could utilize all this hard work, maybe a few different moods to the image or some other changes that comes into your mind.

I will be honest, i don't do compositing or video. Just architecture render of still images. I don't even use Blender (mostly C4D) , but you explain everything in a so "pedagogic way" (even if i'm not a native english speaker as you can see with my shitty english) it's crystal clear !!! This is the kind of tips that are very difficult to learn when you're not already working in the professionnal field and very hard to find. Usually you have to learn in the hard way. Thanks for sharing your knowledges ! Honestly teachers in school could learn a lot from you. It was a very interesting video and a nice channel to find for me, i've subscribed without hesitating. Very great tips, I'd like to mention that denoising each pass before exporting with 0.01 threshold is too important for each scenes otherwise the image is destroyed by noise and denoiser in post production isn't enough

This is one of the best videos I've ever watched - I'm a game developer who makes films on the side for fun, but you've taught me so much about Blender and Resolve in a single video. What I loved specifically was your explicit use of shortcuts with explanations as to how your doing it and why. That is so hard to find and so hard to google for any new users who are still getting use to terminology in these programs - but so easily overlooked by creators, so please continue to do that. Cadence, energy, humor, all of it was perfect - it was the right amount of engaging and entertaining. It was the definition of "Edutainment" I've grown weary of the overly wacky creators who have tried to make their videos more entertaining than informative. I've avoided the skillshare offers for YEARS - but your video and the specific skillshare video you shared - immediately convinced me! I went from stranger who didn't know you to respect your opinion knowledge and professionalism in a single video :) Honestly great stuff :)

Hello Robin! I have been learning a lot about compositing, I have some questions and tips for you: 1. You didnt really explain to the audience why you need to separate all the passes!! so that you can tweak them individually, maybe you can show some examples etc. 2. Denoising separate layers will help a LOT with the denoise flicker and details. 3. Exporting in ACEScg from blender was a bit pointless because you are using blender's ocio config already so you can use linear sRGB since its AgX. 4. Same for the AOVs for the individual passes, you should show some examples and the power of compositing since you have full control on the thing! I really enjoyed the videos since its really high quality in the 'blender space', keep it up!

Why exporting in aces cg is pointless? Exporting in linear srgb doesn't store true colors
@sk0441
@sk0441 13 күн бұрын
@@tusharkashyap2431 AgX color space which blender uses now, is based on linear srgb, normally you would store it in acescg so you can use the built in config for other softwares with aces but agx is using standard srgb color space to store data
