This is the first song in the album Clics Modernos from 1983. It was recorded and mixed in NY (where Charly was living at the time and where he composed the music for the entire album). Most instruments are played by Charly and Pedro Aznar (from Seru Giran). They tested some drummers but decided to rely entirely on the E-mu Emulator sampler where Charly programmed the drums as well as many different sounds that pop up along the album (like James Brown's chopped-up vocals that are all over the song No Me Dejan Salir).

Charly's carreer timeline (extremely shortened): 1971-74: Sui Generis. Folk rock/acoustic rock/prog rock. Formed by Charly and Nito Mestre. 1975: PorSuiGieco: Formed by Raul Porchetto, Sui Generis and Leon Gieco. (Not that important band) 1976-77: La Máquina de hacer pájaros. Pure progressive rock. First supergroup Charly formed. (Important to highlight that a dictatorship was established in 1976 so censorship and metaphors appeared more often in Charly's lyrics) 1978-81: Serú Girán. Second megasuper group Charly formed with Lebón on guitar, Aznar on bass and Moro on the drums. Four albums, considered by many as Charly's prime years. 1982-84: Charly's golden years. Starts his solo career His first three solo albums are the best. 1985-90: Charly's decline begins. Some good songs, not bad albums. 1990-2000: Charly suffers several hospitalizations due to his adiction to drugs. "Say No More" (SNM) era starts. From then on he got worse and worse. 2009: Charly García returns, or what is left of him. He gives some shows but its been more than twenty years from his prime years.

Charly García was a visionary of what was happening in the world. He composed more than songs. Not only his texts, but the genius of being able to create a slap effect with his music, trying to wake us up to what was already being done then with all of humanity. He went way beyond simple music. Comparable only to Soda Stereo. Probably another composer would have made at least 3-4 different songs with so much variation in resources. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks Robk again. This song is from Modern Clics, the second solo álbum in 1983, two years after the last album from Seru Giran. Charly timeline: Sui Generis 1972-1974 Porsuigieco 1975-1976 La máquina de hacer pájaros 1976-1977 Seru Giran 1978-1982 Charly solo 1982-present Write almost three hundred songs, a hundred clasics songs. You should come to Argentina! Normally there is a rock music festival "Cosquín Rock" where you could see a lot of very good bands from the country. Once I saw Charly live there and there was Pedro Aznar and David Lebon as well, they were all together on stage, it was lovely. I hope this covid shit ends and we can go to concerts again. Any time you want to come, you are welcome in my home!!

The song is an allegory between a man beaten in a club, and being tortured in a dark cell by the government. The casual singing at 4:00 mocks people pretending to ignore that bad things were happening.

Hi Robk, it's true charly's drug use but that doesn't make him a better or a worse person, the man is a genius and I think he's influenced more in positive things. If I regret your exaggerated consumption since it has been very bad personally. However, those who say that it is a bad example, I think it is enough to see his life on some occasions to have a clear example of what happens when it is consumed at that level. On the other hand, I haven't heard Charly's chipi chipi bom bom for a long time and I would like you to react! I also recommend that you listen to the original song "Genesis" by Vox Dei, my taste is even better than Soda Stereo's. Salute my friend.
