I would like him to say that they will completely remove it, as it is underlying exploitative of minors as content creators giving them virtual cents to the billions of dollars they profiteer from. A game that tells kids they can make games, but in reality the marketplace inside it is dominated with career professional Roblox developers with more experience than most children have been alive... for the sole purpose to be top 100 listed game to milk kids pocket money (or mums credit card) and keep taking cuts of everything from mtx, market places, advertising, auctions etc.

@@boxhead6177they will have to monetise it one way or another, it is a free service. And though you are right about the top games, they all have a pretty low amount of polish even though some of the games are developed by teams of people. I don't think a kid can compete, but a late teen definetly has the chance if he or she puts effort into making an addictive game with mtx.

I played Roblox years ago around 2009. The game I played was just about building, playing RPG games, fighting games, or just hanging out. Idk wtf this new Roblox is that my little brother plays. Paying $ for certain items in a game, not just cosmetics- is awful. And I would never recommend it to anyone ever

I only made it several minutes in before I gave up on this interview. Given all the massive controversies with Roblox and its potentially predatory practices aimed at children, I’m really surprised and disheartened that The Verge is so uncritical in their questioning here. The CEO talking about “organic growth” is particularly damning given the context.

@@CyanoText has been like that since 2014 when I played it as a kid. Thouugh it has gotten pretty bad last time I checked, most games are now just have mobile game tier monitisation. Not to mention the removal of the free currecy tix.

Massive Multiplayer Online platform that's full of user created content, that is still a game about building with bricks. Nowadays, some of the stuff on it is very much "that isn't made out of bricks".

As a parent I'm getting nervous about the 17+ My kids love Roblox and as a parent there's danger everywhere... But this game and Minecraft have a Nintendo effect or Nickelodeon effect where you can open and almost set them free to explore I would love a separate 17+ app like KZfaq kids or something to prevent them playing a game or playing around younger cousins something they would be to little to see IDK great interview and love Roblox as an app

Tougher age restrictions on being able to play, huge restrictions on streaming and youtube content creation from the game need to also be added to protect other minors playing too and reduce scams and manipulative practices.

@@boxhead6177roblox will barely get any regulation on the robux microtransaction side, it makes too much money for roblox and developers. That nakes a bunch of money like the app store. Developers have mainly just copied the mobile game format in termso of microtransactions.

I am actually really excited. I think any game you play, no matter what, your gonna get creeps. There are creeps everywhere unfortunately. You need take your role in being a parent and make sure there account is set to the right age so they can only join games that is for them. There also is parent control in settings or something.
