What MatPat doesn’t know, is that everything in the game is randomised so there are no tricks in the game other than Seek’s chase where you have to crouch, run, and choose the correct door

Watching MatPat play this game is interesting. Because MatPat tends to mess around in order to lower his fear level and this game kinda punishes that. Which more developers need to do and I love it when they do. The player tries to control the tension/release cycle and when developers take that control away, then the tension is way higher. Developers, punish messing around in your horror game. You'll create an out of this world experience.

You know what? I LOVE that MatPat kas kept Steph in the intro. There are exactly 3 photos without her in it, and it's the three that introduce MatPat himself. That's so beautiful and I adore this little expression of love. It's small, but it means so much.

As someone who gets made fun of at high school for playing roblox, it meant so much to me hearing MatPat say it's okay to like playing roblox.

Few things i want to clear up: Sparkling lights are known as "guiding lights" and are def not halt. Guiding lights are hlping you finding the door or a key in dark rooms, are showing you the right path in the seek chase sequence and are doing a sparkling sound if you are close to a key or a book at door 50. Halt and Ambush are both similair by showing up like ambush only their light flickering are way stronger then rushs. The trick to seperate ambush and halt is if you hear a screechy and rumbling sound ambush will come if nothing happends then at the next door halt will wait for you. (also ambush works almost like rush only that he is faster and will repeat the move that rush does.) Only revives and double knobs costs robux. Items at the beginning in the elevator costs knobs --- There are more things i could add but those are all things that i thought are important fittting the video.

I love this game because everything about it is so smooth like the animation, the mechanics and even the looks of the characters. Probably my favorite game on Roblox right now

11:31 This part was pain for me because he missed the most important part of the cabinet. The top cabinet that he missed is Guranteed to contain an item.

Here’s a few tips: 1: There are about 10 entities as of the current version. Learn to counter them all. 2: Lighting sources decrease the chance of Screech spawning, but will not always work. 3: The first floor of the hotel ends at door 100. Hopefully this helped!

1:35 The problem a lot of people have with roblox is not that it's "kiddy," but rather how some kids are treated on the platform when they try to make money from their games. Many people feel that they are treated abusively for profit by both developer teams who use the roblox platform, and the creators of roblox themselves. The blue light is called the " guiding light" It is a passive entity that helps the player with seek, dark rooms, and tips when you die. However no form of main look, the normal form is just a blue sparkling gas like material, it can tell you what happened when you died, and certain tips into how to avoid it.

I bet MatPat is going to make a theory on Doors after playing the game, probably going to explain the lore and stuff like that...amazing content tho. :D

Rush: Rush is an entity which appears when the lights flicker, and produces a dark mist when it passes. It instantly-kills you. Timothy: Timothy is an entity which rarely appears, but appears in drawers. It's attack is extremely weak. Ambush: Ambush is an entity which appears when the lights flicker, and produces a bright green light. It comes around up to 4-6 times. It instantly-kills you. Guiding Light: Guiding Light is technically not an entity. But appears when you take too long to get out of a room and produces a bright blue light with sparkles. It doesn't damage. Shadow: Shadow is an entity which appears for near a millisecond in a room and rarely appears. It does no damage. Figure: Figure is an entity that appears in the library and elevator (I won't talk about the elevator.) To dodge figure, you must crouch quietly, and if he is near, go in a closet. It instant-kills you. Seek: Seek appears in higher rooms such as forty and sixty. He appears in a long hallway and you will need to dodge things while running from him. He instantly-kills you. Window Monster: He appears in one window in the lobby. (The one in the actual lobby, not game.) Does no damage at all. Eyes: Eyes is an entity that appears rarely in random rooms. You will need to look away from him or you will take 5-10 something damage. Each second/millisecond you take damage when looking at Eyes. Hide: Hide is an entity which appears in every hiding spot. If you hide for too long, you will get kicked out from Hide. Screech: Screech is an entity that appears randomly and commonly in dark rooms. He produces a "psst" sound when he is near. You must look directly at him to dodge his attack. If you take too long, you take near 50-60 damage. Halt: Halt is an entity that rarely appears in random rooms. It forces you to go turn around whenever. If you don't listen, he will get you. I believe he instantly kills you. Glitch: Glitch only appears in multiplayer, and appears when you are too far from the person at the highest door that has been reached. He does 40-50 damage. Joystick Drift: He randomly appears and makes your control inverted or have a slight drift. (This is a joke character, not an actual one.)

The lack of bad end theatre hurts but the Intro of this video seems interesting lol. Doors really are terrifying

I'm very happy that you're going to be continuing this. Roblox, as you stated is very miss-represented due to it mostly advertising towards children. The issue is that the majority of the older players started out playing when they were younger, so only they really get to see the more mature and better sides of Roblox, they have years of experience navigating the vast games and groups of Roblox, unlike a new more mature player who doesn't even know what a "group" is. Also, Roblox is best played with mouse and keyboard, you should REALLY use it every time you play Roblox.

She also fed him some misinformation, like the glow, It's another "Entity" that shows you the way and at level 50 or places with keys it makes a sparkling noise and she also said that "Maybe it's a halt situation?". Halt only appears when the lights flicker for unusally long.

the game design is amazing for roblox. The little things like being able to see the room before you go in it without a lighter. Such a nice touch.

Since its a little hard for you I want to help you so listen to this. Seek: Is the guy who chases you so make sure your really CAREFUL. Screech: Makes a PSST sound so try to look around your surroundings. Glitch: Is the one who can bring you back to team when locked. Dupe: Is the one idiot enemy that makes you go to wrong door and bites you. Sheesh reminds me of the bite of 83 or 87 lol. Figure: Blind cant see but can be alerted when your walking and at door 100 you gonna have to hide. Rush: Comes one then on another room he can come back. Ambush: Comes back a lot, check your surroundings. Eyes: Don't look at eyes or you get the pain. Guiding light: Helps you when you die so that you know and can lure you out. HALT: When it says turn around, turn around and run or just run backwards and forward and yes he does it like a loop. Hide: Don't hide for too long or you get banished from the closet and bed. Jack: The person who scares you a lot but not always. Timothy: Does do a little damage. The Player: It is you that tries to ESCAPE. By the way there is a secret to THE ROOMS so beware to get skull key and lockpicks to GO ON.

For anyone wondering on how to fix joystick drift: “Pull out” the joystick so it makes a little pop sound, and then blow into it. If that doesn’t work; Push down the joystick for 30 sec, after that turn the joystick 5 times to the right and then 5 times to the left. After you did that do it once more, and it should be fixed!! It works and i always do it whenever my controller has a slight drift

I was so late to this, but it was also enjoyable :)) the graphics was so calming, It's both a factor and a blessing for myself since I myself is still scared of the dark, but the place where It's so lit up yet you can still be not safe and makes you absolutely understand why people knows why Screech is scary despite being a small tentacle monster, and now a lot treat them like a dang gremlin

to be fair, you do have gtlives going all the way back to 2015 and you do always talk a bit of what's going on at the moment in every episode, so that's kinda like a journal in the sense that it documents some of what you felt like and what was going on in your life at those days

It's advised to play it on computer if you're going to try and get further into the game- It's difficult on console due to drift! Some extra advise, Listen to the sounds as every sound means something different. Edit: Extra advise, During the chase sequence(s?), It's advised to move both the camera and your character.

i like doors because it's not just a horror game it's a randomized set of rooms that has like, no bugs at this point. i mean it does have bugs but very few compared to most games in it's first year or so of being published, and they patched all the bad bugs from before. most horror games are story based and you know what's gonna happen, but this game is random in almost every aspect

Controls really operate a bit more different during the chase. -You need to turn your head to directly go to that direction. Diagonal movement is extremely hindered during the chase. Hope this helps.- That is why I think keyboard and mouse is the best way to get the chase done. Also; Halt, Eyes (the ones on the walls), Ambush flicker lights as well. -Eyes don't really do anything other than warn you that the chase sequence is near. -Ambush is basically Rush but it runs back and forth more than once usually. -Halt flickers lights if its going to appear in the next room. The room Halt appears will be blue lighted. It will chase you but occasionally appear in front of you so you will have to run backwards when it does. But you don't really have to turn around to do that. The reason I specified Eyes as the ones appearing on the walls is because there is another entity called Eyes. That one will emit a blueish purple light and will damage you continuously if you look at it.

Watching him go through this without any clue what to do was so painful but entertaining at the same time And when they confused the guiding light as bad. Painful

can we PLEASE talk about matt's "diary" entries? that was my favorite part of the video right there. my favorite gtlive moments are definitely characterized as matt slowly getting sillier and sillier from playing said game for a large amount of time and getting stuck on progress. loved watching him play doors! i'm absolutely loving all this roblox content he's been giving us!

Oooh, I've been playing this with friends quite recently. I didn't expect to get that much fun out of a "Roblox horror game" but the design is actually really cool and it's very interesting when you have people to talk to.

i’ve also been playing this game recently, it’s really really fun. one thing that i noticed is if you stay inside of the closet for too long, words start flashing in your face like “get out” - this def spiked my lore senses and thought you should know

This game just doesn't get old; when you get good, it's still so fun. Lots of replay value.

I would love to see matpats reaction to figure. Even though I have never made it past level 50 myself. I have seen the ending however and I think he would be really thrown off and excited! Seeing him okay on something like roblox was awesome to see.

If you want to make another video, a thing to note is that the blue glow around that one door you found is called "guiding light" and also makes some items make a twinkling sound if you look at them

one of the theories i have for the game is that the hotel itself is fully sentient and is actively trying to help the player get out this would explain: the blue light during seek's chase sequence the doors and/or keys having a blue glow after being in the same dark room for a while the blue static and text that you see after you die the doors automatically opening once you get close to them without opening them (especially prevalent during the seek chase sequence) the lights flickering when rush, ambush or halt is about to attack the player bookshelves in certain rooms randomly falling over for no reason (even though this doesnt really 'help' the player)

Ooooo the roblox community has lately been pushing out some great horror games. I'd recommend playing the mimic as it's pretty fun and kinda spooky

Great video, there will probably be a lot of people saying what I’m about to say, but the first “Psst” MatPat heard was an ambience opposed to the screech, you can tell sine it wasn’t as loud. Even so, great video.

Those blue lights guide you through rooms. (notice the blue lights in the puzzle thing telling you how to solve it?) When you die from a certain creature, it tells you how to beat them so you dont die again.

The number one thing I wanted to see clicking on this video was Mat trying to figure out how each entity functions, maybe die once or twice in the process. And then Ash is reading the wiki. That said, Mat seems to have gotten very lucky with his spawn rates here. At least in my experience. I usually see Rush and Screech more commonly than that. Yes, mouse and keyboard is far better for this game than controller.

The blue light that lights up the door in the dark appears when you have taken a bit too long. It is there to help you find the door in the dark! It also appears on keys.

Note to Matpat: there is a big monster boss on level 50 in a library. The monster cannot see, but as usual, uses every other hightened sense to detect you. In level 50, collect books that say things like (octagon)=3 or something. Find a paper next to a typewriter and then use the paper along with the numbers and shapes to unlock the lock on the door with the code. Oh and by the way the books you can collect will stick out a small bit and will have a different angle than others on the bookshelf
