[ Roblox Studio ] How I Transformed a Scene Into a Masterpiece With ONLY Lighting

Hello! In this tutorial, I'll be showing you all how I transformed a pretty average environment that I created into an environment worthy of the front pages.
For anyone interested in the skybox I used for this environment, I have it uploaded in this Drive folder along with instructions on how to use it.

If you're not seeing much effect from your lighting module in editing mode, go to File -> Studio Settings -> Rendering -> under 'Performance' change it to 18 (21 is max) to see most of the needed lighting effect while editing in studio.

good lighting is one of the best factors for roblox games they bring much more immersivity and makes the game feel more worthy of your attention (at least for me)

I recommend having smth in ur code, that gives different atmospheric effects depending on the weather/time of day. So this way it's more diverse with what you want and what you don't want to look like at that certain time

My friend actually made a script that changes the atmosphere and the weather effects at random intervals! Some days (in real time) it’ll be rainy, some days it’ll be snowy, and some days it’ll be cloudy

the map looks actually insane, it looks so cool bro, the atmosphere looks so nice. Also 12:00 that is not hexadecimal, hexadecimal is a number system with 16 different numbers, such as 0123456789ABCDEF, 0-255 has 256 numbers including 0, that is 2 to the 8'th power and you would call it 8-bit

Lighting sure is one of the most important element in game design! I would love to see how this will turn out in the future. I seen that you are the one who did the terraform and modeling which is neat and I want to ask if that style is low poly with textures? Also please make more videos like this as it is entertaining and would be good for promoting the game and boosting your channel. :)

Hey! All of the models are low poly. I bake high poly mesh detail onto the low poly meshes to give off the illusion of more geometrically detailed objects. I'd be happy to make a brief video going through the process.

Can I hire you as a UGC uploader? 1 year ago I fractured my skull which permanently impaired my vision, A.K.A it takes a while to make a ugc program or build a portfolio. I applied but I didn’t have enough to add to my portfolio. I’ll full cover the fee! Love the work btw!

You should check out collection service for your lights. That way you wont have to put all of your light sources in a folder. Not sure if I am too late to tell you about this. Anyways, good tutorial, really appreciate it.

you've got a plugin called light toggle, so i think you can fetch all the lights with a script and put them into a folder

It just takes a lot of trial and error, but I guarantee you that if you’re consistent and disciplined with improving your skill, you will reach whatever level it is that you want to reach. There is always room for improvement. But don’t compare yourself to me! I have spent multiple days and nights trying to perfect my craft (I don’t recommend it). Go at your own pace, and don’t worry about what other people are doing or making. Art is meant to be YOUR journey. I’ll be doing a lot more tutorials on how to texture and model like in this video, so stay tuned!

I have a few friends that I grab from time to time to help out with tedious tasks. We've been making some pretty good progress these past few months with the scripting/humanoid character creation. Though I could always use some more modelers/artists who know how to hand paint stylized textures. The search continues!

This is awesome, but one thing is bugging me. Roblox players usually prefer their characters to look like roblox characters, so it still feels like roblox when they're playing. Just an opinion that you might wanna think about.

I haven’t really given much thought to that because this is purely a passion project. I’m not a fan of the clunky, overly cartoonish style of Roblox avatars, so I’ve decided to create my own humanoid designs.

The very first thing I did was the terrain. I just created a huge, HUGE landscape and placed the buildings after it was complete. I made edits according to the placement of the buildings

It was all just very random lol. I didn’t have a specific arrangement in mind, but I know that I did want to have a mountain in the environment so I also added terrain to complement its position. The mountain is a mesh that was created in Blender

Thanks! I use Blender to model and Substance Painter to texture. I’m currently the only one working on the 3D assets.
