An absolutely stellar rendition of Soundwave. While MP-13 definitely still stands as a wonderful figure, FansToys has more than blown it out of the water with respect to the current direction of the MP line.

I love his alt mode. The official one looks good from the front and sides, but the illusion starts to die if you look at it from the back or underneath. This one looks great and full from all angles.

I wished that Fanstoys actually put a phone jack into the Walkman Mode cause I would love the immersion.

I love the bios, whoever wrote those had a sense of humor. I love RP/FT for including the G1-toy style replacement parts because he needed that extra pop of detail on his shoulders and knees, right now I have toy everything except face and shins and quite like the look. I want more companies (and HasTak) to follow suit with this trend because I like a nice mix of cartoon accuracy and G1 toy detailing. I like the official MP a little more in alt mode because he has more little real-world details, but for robot I like the proportions on Acoustic Wave a bit more. But MP-13 is still one of the top 3 best official MPs they've done. I wish the tape door popped open on mine, it doesn't really do anything when I push the button, and I have to get a fingernail in and pull it open before it finally pops. I think I need to shave down the tab holding it closed on the right side slightly. All in all though, I'm quite happy with him, especially since I never got MP-13. Can't wait for the other cassettes to come in!

Bought this guy, few things you should know; When pegging the shoulders in, press them In and towards the ftint and then apply the aide pressure. You don'r NEED a spudger to remove or add the toy details, including the kneepads, but it does help a lot.

Oh Fanstoys. How could you do this to me so close to Christmas? Now I'm gonna have to start a GoFundMe for this and the tape squad.😄 He looks so dynamite. Would probably use the toy screen with the cartoon colors though.

Great review! I love how you are always positive and don’t find nitpicks just to have nitpicks. Unlike some other reviewers…… One of my biggest complaints about MP-13 was that it felt too light and lacked that premium feel. Fan Toys comes in and addressed that big time with a very solid and hefty figure, along with the fantastic perfectly looking G1 mold, as well as being able to "Modernize it with the panels" if you want. I personally leave the flashier panels on and stick with the G1 toon accurate head.

I have the THF ko of MP Soundwave, which I love, but this definitely looks like it's worth getting, too. Plus there's a cheaper ko of this one that's either out or almost out now. I'll wait to see what the youtube reviewers say.

It's amazing how good the G1 toy was back in the day I'd say it was the second best g1 toy after JetFire in my opinion. That might be a good video, picking your favorite g1 figures.

I like how Fibrir is red with a bio that is clearly based on Frenzy when his name implies the "Frenzy is blue" argument? basically says "who cares?" to the people still arguing about it. I'm guessing the blue one is going to have Rumble's bio and be called Firrib? If not than boo!

Wow @emgo316, I have to thank you. I just got Acoustic Wave a few weeks ago and had been so bummed that the crotch piece didn’t sit right in Tape deck mode. It just wouldn’t sit like yours (and every other reviewer’s) did. I even tried cutting and scratching off some plastic (unseen areas) thinking the mold was just too thick or had anomalies on it. So I watched your video over and over to see if I transformed him wrong and I FINALLY noticed at 34:06 the part that holds the legs under the crotch panel was assembled BACKWARDS! I rewatched your vid multiple times to be sure. And sure enough, even though it transforms fine and the crotch skirts connect fine, it’s ever so slightly pushed forward and that’s what made the front button part of the hip skirt never sit right. So I unscrewed it, flipped it around (again, re watching your vid to make sure I didn’t just flip it 360 to have the same issue again) confirmed it needed to rotate 180° and put it back together. And WHOA it now sits PERFECT. so thank you for having such a clear and specific video showing all sides of him. Without that bottom view (and clear quality of your camera) I would have never noticed it was assembled backwards by FT. I can’t imagine how many others might have this issue and figured it was just a poorly designed figure. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

I wish they can develop a functional alt mode of Soundwave which can become a bluetooth speaker with the cassette serve as SD card and the shoulder cannon and gun can be a lithium battery, that'll be so cool.

Transform him again from bot to alt, but this time push the shoulders FORWARD instead of backward. It comes untabbed super duper easy, and no need to shave down anything. The fault is in the instructions, but yeah, don't go backward to untab the shoulders, go forward.

This one’s hard to justify for me . Yes I like him , but he’s pricey & my love for the Takara mold is still strong . Think I’m going to hold off & give TT a shot at a more toon accurate rendering . As always , great review brother !

After seeing this I realized how good mp 13 is, good design with simpler and no faux part transformation and a better looking cassette player mode. Still bought this as well since the robot mode looks better for this one though

Frenzy is red, rumble is blue, rumble is also red The way I was raised, I can imagine rumble being red... but for. The. Life of me I just can't see frenzy being blue Firribriar for life

when WILL they FINALLy make a modern jambox soundwave with removable speakers that are rumble and frenzy...with a g1 aesthetic, heck u could even make it a working jambox, if u wanted to ...and it could just be like a bluetooth speaker/player, but that looks like soundwave...orr something like that? acoustic wave is pretty awesome tho... =)

Anyone else notice the spelling error in Acoustic Wave's bio? (3rd Paragraph!) also the annoyance of paint scraping on FIBRIR's legs due to sliding against the walls of the chest compartment! All in all though this is a really well done figure!

Looks good but I still don’t really get why they picked Soundwave given it’s arguably the best MP figure Takara have ever done. I’d rather have seen them do one of the weaker official MPs like Wheeljack or Ironhide

With modern tech there really isnt very many ways you can do soundwave with his original gimmic. The only cheesy way i can think of him working in modern times now is..like as a microwave. So he still retains that chest gimmic and instead of casset tapes, his little minions are tupper ware containers. Or he is some sort of hacking computer and the minions are just Apps that he uses for cyber attacks.

I'm going to wait for "ELECTRIC WAVE."
