Robot Wars Classics: Behemoth vs. Apollo

Robot Wars Classics sees us look back at some of the best and most memorable battles in the show's history. After its latest shortcoming in Series 9, Behemoth is back in the opening episode of Series 10 in an attempt to win a Heat for the first time since its debut 19 years ago. With the Series 8 champions, Apollo, its opponent in the Heat Final, will this be another one of Behemoth's shortcomings or will Anthony Pritchard and co finally end their endless run of pain?

I literally shouted with joy when Behemoth finally won the Heat Final. Truly this marked Behemoth's greatest achievement after all this time.

Truly one of the greatest fights in all of Robot Wars. No hyperbole, I've seen every single episode and that is legit one of THE best fights ever, almost on par with the likes of Chaos 2 vs Wild Thing. Jonathan said "Could be a very, _very_ close battle" and he had no idea how true that really was.

To me its kinda awesome that they still work on project Behemoth! After so many failures they haven't dropped the robot and just built a new one - no, they're still improving it until they succeed :) Greetings from Germany

The thing I like about his battle was the driving. On one hand you have a UK Champion driver and on the other with 19 years of experience and both of them never let up. Behemoth's team had seen how Hypno-Disc v.s. Bigger Brother went and knew that there was a chance to win and used that knowledge and still never let up. The best fight driving wise are two control bots with two world class drivers. Spectacular fight and congrats to Behemoth or as I call it Bay Moth

Well done Behemoth - they won their Heat for the first time since way back in Series 2. And they defeated a former UK Champion for the first time. Well, in a Robots Live! event in 2012 they actually beat Panic Attack in the latter's first battle coming out of retirement, but that was easy as hell for Behemoth to take out an old machine with a srimech that wasn't working properly.

First episode of Series 10 got off to a good start, enjoyed all of the bouts but this was the fight I was looking forward to seeing Behemoth v Apollo and it didn't disappoint. As much as I love Apollo I was both gobbed smacked and happy to see Behemoth won at last, this should be up as one of the best fights in the show's history.

Apollo may have been the faster and stronger machine, but Behemoth was smarter. Right after escaping Dead Metal's CPZ, Apollo made a costly error which Behemoth took advantage of without hesitation.

Honestly this is one of the greatest heat finals in the history of the show. I've seen this battle more then a dozen times and I still can't get over how good it is. It's non stop back and forth action with great moments like Apollo almost throwing Behemoth out and Apollo flipping Behemoth so he rolls over Dead Metal's arms. And it all ends with Behemoth in a mad dash attack throwing Apollo down the pit and winning it's first heat since series 2. Truly incredible.

This is more than just a Robot Wars fight. This right here is proof that losers can win over what were once champions. And that's really inspiring. To see someone go their whole life losing, and then finally getting what they want at long last. Love it.

First Robot Wars episode I ever saw was Series 3 Heat B, and if I remember correctly, the first robot I ever saw was Behemoth! Always one of my personal favourites, and so glad they finally broke through after so long!

About the 1min mark when the roboteer says i cant see, shows how poorly designed the contender box is, something that happened in the latest series too, it needs addressing
