Most people here talking about the controversial Mute decision. Me? I'm annoyed at how JP keeps talking about how Mute's flipper opens the wrong way. You know, the way Firestorm's does...

Difference is that Firestorm's was effective. Mute wasn't. It limped through Series 7 against better opposition.

First time seeing this I was rooting for Storm, but now I think Mute should've won I mean it was really good close fight between both, but when they got that flip on at the end it looked like it would win on aggression. But then again Cedric Slammer should've won their fight, despite Mute using its weapon it immobilized them completely and damaged Cedric's drive, even if it was only moving on one side but they did make more movement than its opponent.

The Cedric/Mute decision was definitely controversial, but I think I can see how the split panel ultimately ruled in favour of Mute. There was very little external damage that either robot managed to inflict, and obviously, both robots suffered enough internal damage to immobilize both robots when the primary weapons collided (the judges have ruled robots as immobilized showing more mobility than Cedric did in the past). Ultimately, I think it will have come down to control and aggression. From the beginning, it was Mute trying to make the more offensive maneuvers and corralling Cedric towards the side wall (at least that's what the footage seems to show - there are sometimes discrepancies between the final edits and the raw live show, as evidenced by the conflicting perspectives of audience members watching Mute vs Judge Shred in Series 7 vs the footage shown). I do still feel bad for Cedric Slammer, as they've got a good weapon that did some reasonable damage in their heat.

To be honest that whole fight was terrible. One of the most bare minimum fights you could possibly get. If it were up to me I'd have just said 'Fuck it, let's just have a rematch', because literally nothing happened in that fight.

Cedric Slammer vs Mute should’ve gone to a rematch. They’ve done them before when both robots are immobilised simultaneously, why not then? Edit: guess because both robots had failed technically, they would’ve needed time to repair.

Mute was the real unlucky robot of this final. Sure I could see the Cedric slammer decision going either way but I don't think it was an awful decision as mute seemed more controlled than cedric who struggled to move for a lot of the fight. Mute really should have won the final, they're driving was outstanding and they controlled one of if not the most powerful robot in the shows history. They got some great flips on in the end aswell. Wouldn't be suprised if the judges if they were forced to choose storm

Anyone with a functioning brain knows Cedric Slammer was the clear winner in that fight, even if you take out their immobilisation which they were clearly the more active machine than Mute, Cedric Slammer was able to use their weaponry way more than Mute did in that peroid of time. Next to the Series 7 final that has to be one of the worst decisions ever seen in Robot Wars.

I assume there's some editing done that makes the result somewhat murkier. It seems like Cedric were the only ones getting any points at all but perhaps there's some parts edited out where Mute is getting points in a very untelevisual way. The Cedric Slammer team didn't appear shocked, annoyed or angry about it.

Yeah, they mostly had to fight through the qualifiers, so the contest wasn't essentially pointless. The winner got to bypass that straight away. If Mute for example lost the qualifier, it wasn't in. As for not in Series 6 or 7: Niterider, Maximus, Hell's Teeth (although they qualified with Trax), Night Raider (who qualified with B.O.D.), RT 81, Chopper, Direct Action, Mad Dog, Bash Gordon, Fatal Traction, Piranha and Pressure. That is HALF the robots, 10 of the teams.

Mute were robbed. Style - Style is a stupid category and was rightfully dropped in the new series. Control - Mute wins. Both robots were in full control of their robots, but Storm didn't have a weapon. Mute only used their flipper when they were under Storm, that should score more points. Damage - Mute wins. Again, they flipped storm twice. Aggression - Equal. Both robots consistently came at one another. Mute might have been less nippy than Storm but they still came at them head on. Unless there is some deleted footage I have no idea how Storm won that.

Storm 2 is so much better than Tornado for 2 reasons: 1 - they're honest about what they are. They don't pretend like they have a weapon system only to drive around and slam into things. 2 - they're much faster, better built, cooler looking, and the guys aren't cheating dickwads. Seeing Storm do burnouts is as cool as watching a bot get flipped out of the arena, and watching it slam bots on the arena wall is so much more fun than when Tornado does it because it's so much faster, it's like watching a car crash, not watching kids on bumper cars, like it is when watching Tornado.

Tornado aren't cheating dickwads either. Learn what "cheating" actually is. Also, by your logic, Tornado aren't butthurt liars who hold onto grudges for years, therefore Tornado is better than Storm 2.

Mute would have been 10x better if they had a flipper that was configured like normal, rather than having the reverse hinged flipper like Firestorm. They had a strong flipper and a well made bot, but that 1 thing kept them from getting flips and being much more effective overall. Reverse hinged flippers are just lame and not as effective. They just tip, which was fine in Firestorms heyday, but by this shows time, they were just pointless, objectively worse overall.
@Frosty_tha_Snowman
@Frosty_tha_Snowman 2 жыл бұрын
@@elbobinho I know, Firestorm was great, it was also much lower and sharper angled. Mute had a steep angle and literally had to get the robot on top of them in order to use the flipper to its full effect. Firestorm worked great, I wont hate on Firestorm and their success at all, but Mute is a different story. Such wasted potential.. they had wonderful pneumatics, but they couldn't make it work.
@Frosty_tha_Snowman
@Frosty_tha_Snowman 2 жыл бұрын
@@elbobinho my point is that at the time, low pressure flippers were the thing, and Firestorm design made it easier to tip them over, which was great, because most robots weren't great at self righting. It was kind of op with its simplicity. However, by the time Mute came around, pneumatics had advanced and they had flip power instead of tip power, but they wasted it by reversing the fulcrum and making their robot so tall with such a steep angle. They would have been able to get under bots and use much more of their energy by having proper leverage - its just physics, honestly, and their bot was flawed in that regard. Well engineered, but not well thought out.
@Frosty_tha_Snowman
@Frosty_tha_Snowman 2 жыл бұрын
@@elbobinho I mean.. Firestorm was technically good all the way up until the show ended, but that's just because their bot was a good shape and well engineered. I do think they could have benefitted from upgrading their tech from a low pressure flipper to a full pressure one and to also make it rear hinged, but they did it for fun, didn't care to advance the robot any more than just small modifications to utilize the design they had, which is fine, but I do still think front hinged flippers are much more boring to watch than something like Wheelie Big Cheese, Gravity, or Chaos 2. But again, I wont hate on Firestorm, they were part of my childhood and by no means a bad robot. Just think there was room for improvement, that's all.
@Frosty_tha_Snowman
@Frosty_tha_Snowman 2 жыл бұрын
@@elbobinho yeah but it could have been so much better.. it had such a strong flipper - remember when Mute self righted and did like a double frontflip? Mannn, such high energy at work and it was almost entirely being wasted because of a simple design flaw.... just makes me frustrated to see lol.
@Frosty_tha_Snowman
@Frosty_tha_Snowman 2 жыл бұрын
@@elbobinho not my point.. it was a weapon design that didn't work because of the reverse hinge and the shape- had they changed one of those 2 things, it would have worked. I'd prefer to see it work as a normal hinged flipper because then the shape would work fine, but they could also make a new body and run a reverse hinged flipper more effectively like Firestorm - but they failed to do either of those, resulting in a bot that simply lacked purpose. As for the reverse hinged vs normal hinged flipper argument, it's just my opinion, you're allowed to like reverse hinged flippers, but I find pushy wedge bots and slow tippers boring to watch. I don't blame Firestorm though, they just utilized a good strategy because almost nobody had a srimech at the time. Again, I just find it boring. I also 4ucking hate Tornado, just my opinion. We're all good, mate.
