Crackhead Craig was by far the best presenter.

He did apply to be presenter of the rebooted series.

It took awhile for me to warm up to Craig but I think he's great. He really did bring a great energy.

Diotoir also out-tornadoed Tornado in RW Series 5 or 6 (the one they went out in 2nd round)

He was effectively spoiling what happens... I mean... listen to his intros... and look what occurs...

I wonder what happened to Philipper. Them and Diotor were the only non-US/UK bots to do much, with Philipper even taking out the daunting Panzer and surviving to a close JD against Tornado.

Drillzilla only got as far as it did because it found a loophole. If technically classified as a walker the robot used to be permitted to enter the tournament with a higher weight limit. This allowed it better motors and armor than other robots had of the same weight class. But that weight limit was intended to be there to compensate for the lower speed and maneuverability REAL walker robots lack. Quoted from the Robot Wars wiki: -------------- Drillzilla was somewhat unpopular in the pits due to its shufflebot design, which many thought to be bending the rules as the design gave it the weight advantage of a walkerbot but much better speed and pushing power than regular walkers usually enjoy. @@jedg9309 It's been 2 years since that post. I'm a bit out of the loop at this point. I only vaguely remember there was a good bit about each bot n the wiki. You could possibly find what you want to know there.

I'm not so sure about that, though. Yes, Mastiff self-righted, but at that point it was also knocked against by Chaos 2 to where the former was propped up a bit. The question is - would Mastiff have self-righted if it was laid out completely flat on its wedge?

The first Extreme series was filmed alongside series 5, so it's just a case of when they decided to release the episodes more than anything else.

The 5th Wars are the most sensible next choice, since the current available footage of it is in much lower quality compared to the footage of the other seasons (at least the last I remember).

1) The producers had limited options as to the robots they could include from other countries. Although Robot Wars was being shown around the world at the time, many countries, such as Italy, had only just started building robots. 2) Robots aren't just picked because they are strong fighters. The producers were also looking for robots with unusual designs, and/or robots that made good cannon fodder. Examples of this include Grannie's Revenge and The Tartan Terror. W70 looked unusual, and was unique in that it was built from a pool cleaner.

You are asking how Whirlpool 70 qualified when it was a bot that at least functioned as far as movement went, and not Yeberobo, who did literally nothing the entire match.

That spot definitely made up for the fact the robot never worked in that battle.

It echoes throughout the entire episode. Maybe they were trying to make his voice sound more dramatic like its reverberating around the arena but it comes across as an error.

If it had got through to the Head to Heads in Series 8, chances are Razer would have likely ended up being decimated by Carbide.

Jack Monaghan it would all depend on who was faster if Razer could have gotten behind carbide it would have bit something important

It would have been interesting to see how Tornado would do against Carbide with a doubled-up version of the frame it used against Razer.

Honestly, I wish in hindsight that Razer didn't return. I was initially excited to see it back and was shocked to see it embarrassingly fall out of the competition in the first televised Robot Wars battle in over 12 years, but what chance would it have had against Carbide? Sure, Razer had an anti-spinner wedge, but I doubt even that would've been enough to prevent being violently chopped apart and getting scrapped. Look at Ian Lewis' reaction to what damage Pussycat inflicted on Razer - how do you think he would've dealt with what Carbide would've most likely done? It's not like Razer would've been able to cause much damage anymore anyway, with the standards of armour and construction by 2016.

Well people forget that all the armor on Razer is upfront and they spin on a dime, they would not take much damage from those early spinners.

Yeah, that slow spin up time is what killed them. The fact that Razer went immediately for them and didn't let up until they were out was enough to show that the Revolutionist was the only bot they even considered a threat. Not that that was a particularly difficult feat in that heat.

Really not sure I can agree with you there, especially towards the end it looked like it was all DZ. They were more aggressive, though I reckon Graham Bone out did them on driving skill. Yes, Firestorm got the KO on the other two machines but by that measure, Philliper should have won the fourth melee - it was the one to kill Panzer, who would have dominated Tornado if it was one-on-one.

A bot with no means to self right itself and no means to effectively discourage flipping tactics in this competition is just begging to be flipped over for an easy win. Like seriously the creators of Panzer equipped their bot with a flipping mechanism but they never bothered to think that their bot might be flipped as well ? >.>

ZinXlX It did have one, but got jammed up from tornado's ramming. The only reason they lost was because flipper got a cheap shot while it was facing tornado. I'm sure if panzer had faced flipper he could have beaten it with the pushing power.

Its amazing the things that Jonathon misses like S3 is against Mousetrap. He actually thinks the rub spring the S3 tears off runs the weapon, not the chain you can clearly see on the hinge.

Oh well - you can have a laugh at Yeborobo being thrown by the arena flipper and landing smack on top of Tornado. I sure did! 😁
