Construction automation is here and we are seeing different construction methods advancing towards a future of increasing robotics on the job site! Today we get to see CyBe printing a house with Precision Builders in Inlet Beach, Florida. I got to interview print operators, the CyBe CEO Berry Hendriks, GC James Light, and also watch a wall being printed while I was there.

I'm with the homeowner on many points. A house should be incredibly durable and reliable. For example, why do I have to buy a new roof every 15-20 years? The roof and other parts of the home should be built to last longer than that.

The robotic arm system of printing makes so much more sense than gantries. I love rethinking construction, in all aspects of the process. I can't wait until we have laser print heads suspended from robotic arms. Anyone who is interested in a career in automation construction should take Jarett Gross' "How to 3d print a house" course. 'Information Is Transformation' and what I am learning has radically, positively upgraded my skill base. I had the concept before, now I have and am acquiring even more techniques from the cutting edge of this rapidly growing industry. Thanks for the front row seat Jarett Gross and crew.

I can't believe you are talking about Jared Gross How to Build a 3D House course! It has also changed my life and I would be homeless without it! How are the walls moved to the permanent location, and how are they installed to the floor slab? Do they use tractors or cranes to move the walls?

An off-road forklift can lift from the top or a regular forklift can lift from the bottom if you leave a gap in the printed concrete or cut one out.

@@automateconstruction Thanks. Sounds good. However, why use 3d printed movable walls when you can ship precast concrete walls made in the factory that are thinner, lighter and cheaper, and look nicer (smoother) and can be stacked on a semi truck and transported to the site. Also, making precast concrete walls using poured concrete into molds is faster and easier. I thought Cybe was going to use a moving 3d printer with wheels or tank treads to permanently print on the spot. That would be a lot faster and not have to hassle with moving walls.

Hi Jarett, why are they printing the walls separately instead of printing them in place? Isn't that the point of a robotic arm? 💜

Calibrating specific locations for the robot is time consuming, it's easier to just start printing the next wall and move it later especially because these wall elements are small enough to be moved with a small forklift.
