Deck donator here. Thanks for playing my deck and thanks for the advice! Sorry it didn't go so well for you. I've played this deck a ton both online in and in paper at FNM. I usually go about even in leagues with it. There are a lot of decks you just can't beat (Lands, Painter, anything with wasteland, lol). I played it in my first ever challenge a couple weeks ago and went 3-4. (Two of those loses I got stomped, but 2 I punted the ends of game 3, so I can't blame the deck for that.) I think you had a bit of bad luck with your matchups. Goblins is tough (byebye name sticker though). Painter is unbeatable and you got it twice (its just a better artifact deck). GW depths is hard, too (although not as bad as Lands). I agree with your advice in that it needs some more low-cost artifacts. The metallic rebukes were a recent addition (I haven't found them to be good, though) and I'm going to try replacing them with chalices/baubles. I wish there were more/better artifact affinity cards out there. I saw a spoiler that we are getting yet another 7 cost 4/4 affinity creature :(. I play the deck differently that you do. I don't mulligan nearly as much and just accept that you don't often do much turn 1. Simulacrum is the best card to have and will sometimes mulligan for that. Of course in legacy that means you might just die turn 1 or 2, but there isn't much you can do against combo anyways. Tangle Wire is a turn 3 play as it sets the opponent back to to the start and gives you time to get ahead. It is absolutely horrible against in some matches though (esp vs lands, goblins, devler). I often take it out match 2. Tangle Wire and Palantir are more fun cards than good cards, but I've had One Ring carry matches and I think its worth keeping. Thanks again!

This felt like a pretty good showcase of the problems with Simulacrum Synthesizer. Only watched games 1-3 so far, but taking a turn off to scry 2 and set up for future felt way too slow against both Goblins and Painter when they had combo draws and you needed to be applying pressure.

I mean, I've milled a blasphemous act and a Troll of Khazad-dum off Palantir before to 15 someone before (admittedly in commander, so half points). Also, the Narset-Palantir interaction is very funny.

My Pioneer version plays ramp into Brass Knuckles and Metalwork Colossus. I've dropped 68 power onto the board in one turn (knuckles into 2 colossus giving 4 12/12 constructs) and then gave one double strike because why not? The floor is scry 2, yes. But if oppo doesn't remove it, they better win in a turn or two.

26:57 Did you forget that the One Ring protects you? You could use it to gain protection from the combo for a turn, draw three extra cards and attack twice with the existing constructs.

I really love the ceiling of synthesizer and I keep hoping the floor will bring the price down to earth. But i think it might just be more of a modern card than a legacy one beyond memes

Since synthesizer works on etb rather than cast, I wonder if there is some way to play it in a UR shell with goblin engineer to trigger it by looping artifacts from the graveyard without needing to play as many bad affinity creatures?

Honestly ive been thinking of getting into legacy and I'm either going moon stompy or 8-cast. Ideally id build both and swap lands around as appropriate, but that's still a bit out of reach

At 3:00, you say that since this deck is mostly colourless, you can try to get away with playing more artifact lands. So I'm wondering, is there a reason why you're playing Tree of Tales instead of Darksteel Citadel? You don't seem to have any use for the green mana, so the citadel being indestructible seem pretty relevant no?
