The Beach Boys too.. Brian Wilson was a genius in the studio.. The well known ones are Good Vibrations and Heroes and Villains which were recorded in sections in different studios with different arrangements and then the tape was physically cut and spliced to the previous section.. There are literally hours of sections from Heroes and Villains which didn't make the cut! If you haven't before, you should check out their unfinished album SMiLE.. some of that stuff is wild!

I recorded four different bands using a tape Machine just like this one with 2 inch tape while taking a audio recording and mastering class at San Francisco State circa 2002. Including a Zydeco band where we had 11 mics on the drum kit alone. Yup... old school.

The sheer joy you show in this video is one of the reasons I'm so glad I found this channel. You're without a doubt an amazing musician but the fact that you have such passion for music (even though I hate using that word) and that you're *legitimately a good guy* and have such a great sense of humor really set you apart. I've never used Patreon before but supporting musicians and people who bring such light and joy to the world is my exact definition of what "patronage" should be, going back all the way to the Renaissance definition of the term, when leaders realized the value of culture, art, and music. I'm going to feel very good about my five bucks a month (edit: I guess I didn't know how much control you have with Patreon. Five bucks up to twice a month! Woo!) knowing that it enables you to keep doing what you love and enriching people's lives the way you do. Shine on.

No, the only reason to go analog is if your band has plenty of money and you want a more accurate recording.

The "time warp" effect was definitely cool. I believe that's initially a shuttle control for quickly scrubbing to different passages to hear so you can edit properly. That machine sounds absolutely beautiful. Thanks for posting.
