I agree - and many reaction channels pass it over - yet it takes on a diff meaning when you watch it to the opening of the movie Peters Friends. They did brilliant takes and cuts from some of the worlds major political events, the berlin wall, tian square etc.. This orig music video didnt do the music justice like they managed in the movie!

Tears for Fears was a part of the “Second British Invasion” that included bands like Duran Duran, Bananarama, Depeche Mode, Human League, and so many others. All the good Brit synth pop/alternative music of the 80s. If you know the 80s, you know Tears for Fears. You guys really need an early to mid-80s teen movie night with 16 Candles, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Better Off Dead. Fill yourself with 80s stuff and you will never again have to wonder what decade an 80s song came from.
@centuryrox
@centuryrox 2 жыл бұрын
And all of the second British invasion was helped immensely by MTV in the early 80s. Those bands are so well-known now, but probably would've never been known without MTV (you know, the channel that stands for MUSIC TELEVISION, but never plays music anymore, and hasn't for about 25 years now)

Right On! They like alot of UK British Groups met in School or as Children. They were luckier than ost Duos like Wham and even Hall & Oates because they each took turns singing lead. The Drummer is Manny Elias and their Keyboard Player is Ian Stewart. They also had a Song called "Mad World" that was covered by Gary Jules and someone used it to pay homage to folks who died of AIDS. In 1985 when American Bandstand celebrated 33 1/3 Years on The Air they did their Follow Up "Head Over Heels". Also if you listen carefully the Guitar Riff may have been inspired by "Don't Mess With Bill" by The Marvelettes.

You would think that if they did a little research on these legendary groups, that they would know all the answers. To a, that Tears For Fears, had a lot of hits. And b, that their music is from the 1980s. Of course it's from the 1980s, that means it's very good. Have you heard today's music, it's hot garbage most of it. It's annoying how he always points out the obvious. Great reaction though. 🤣

Their first big US hit was "Shout." They also had this one, "Head Over Heels," and "Sowing The Seeds of Love" (which has big Beatles vibes). "Mad World" was a hit in the UK for them but the haunting cover version by Gary Jules was a US hit many years later. (Speaking of cover versions, Lorde has an amazing cover of "Everybody Wants To Rule The World.") My very favorite Tears For Fears song is "Mothers Talk"! Btw, the two guys, Curt and Roland, switch up who sings lead. This was Curt; Roland sings lead on all the others I mentioned except Mad World. Both their voices are lovely, but Roland's is a bit stronger.

Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of 2 things: (1) The movie "Real Genius" and (2) being 5 years old and living a much simpler yet fun life at that age in 1985. The two leads (Roland and Curt) trade off on who sings lead for each song and sometimes they go back and forth in the same song... Listen to ALL of their hits.
