When George Harrison passed away from cancer on November 29, 2001, I put this song on and played it until I was cried out. That such a beautiful spirit had been taken from us so cruelly was more than I could bear. I think this song, about winter leaving a spring coming, captures his sweet, gentle heart so well. He was still pretty young when this was recorded, but he was what my mother used to call an "old soul".

A lot of folks seem to prefer John or Paul, but George was my favorite Beatle. The others put out loads of music and were usually the ones "pushing the boundaries" but George did his share too. @@phtevenz Most of the second side of "Abbey Road" is comprised of snippets of Beatle songs that were far from completion. Paul McCartney, the businessman of the Beatles was in a panic. Here they were with a deadline for an album and with only really a few legitimate songs. So, Paul turned to George Martin for help. Martin in turn, wove the snippets together into a seamless Rock Symphony and saved the day. Martin truly was the 5th Beatle.

It's often said that John was the brain, Paul was the heart, George was the soul and Ringo the laughter. I don't know that it was always accurate, but this is the gorgeous George Harrison, he didn't have a lot of songs while in the Beatles (many when he was solo) but they stood out. Try 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'.

The Beatles had at least 3 frontmen, and this is a George Harrison song. Ringo became a frontman, too, so all 4 were frontmen. 3 of them were songwriters, multi-talented! For Ringo, I would recommend his solo stuff, like It Don't Come Easy, or Photograph. However, for a his earliest compositions, Octopus' Garden is a peek into Ringo's whimsy, as is Don't Pass Me By. Early 1970, is a very interesting take by Ringo, about the Beatles, immediately post break up, each verse describes Ringo's relation to each of the members, and then a self deprecating final verse describing his own musical limitations at the time. He is still releasing original music at age 81, with only covid limiting him from touring.

Here Comes The Sun is a love song to me. It's like he was feeling cold as ice and "The ice is slowly melting" and he now feels the warmth. "Here comes the sun and I say it's alright. Little darling the smiles returning to the faces. Little darling, it seems like years since it's been here..." To answer your questions, Paul McCartney and John Lenon sang most of the Beatles' songs. Paul McCartney sang Black Bird. Here Comes The Sun Was sung by George Harrison. He was one of the guitarists. George Harrison also sang, "As My Guitar Gently Weeps", as popular George Harrison Songs.. Ringo was the drummer. Ringo also sang, "Boys, Yellow Submarine, You're 16 You're Beautiful and You're Mine" as some popular songs.

George at this time was coming into his own as a songwriter. Imagine being George and writing a song at home. He had to bring that song to Lennon and McCartney at practice and play it to two of the greatest songwriters of all time. Think of how intimidating that had to be. George did say that he often times brought in a song but did not show it to them for fear of being embarrassed. But, he got better and better, and was almost on par with them by the time they broke up.

The single (rather than LP version) of "Revolution" is a bit harder edged, too. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eK18et2Dvb-Zcqs.html Or you could go back earlier for "And Your Bird Can Sing" from Revolver, or even to the start of their careers with songs like "Twist and Shout" or "Long Tall Sally" (both are cover versions). And I believe I heard Paul McCartney say that "Helter Skelter" was made to impress Pete Townsend of The Who with how loud and hard-edged a Beatles track could be. Some even see it as a song that led other musicians to move toward 'heavy metal'. So many great songs with lead sung by each of these great talents, from "Come Together" to "In My Life" and "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Norwegian Wood" sung by John Lennon; "Paperback Writer" or "Eleanor Rigby" or "Penny Lane" or "Lady Madonna" sung by Paul McCartney; "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" or "Something" or "Taxman" sung by George Harrison; and "Yellow Submarine" or "Octopus' Garden" or "With A Little Help From My Friends" sung by Ringo Starr. And that's just scraping the surface, of course.
