She wrote this song after traveling to India, where she learned meditation and self reflection. She came to understand that things we tend in the West to think of as "bad" are often really there to teach and grow us spiritually and are worth being thankful for. Lovely song!

During the pandemic she appeared on the Tonight Show to sing Ablaze, a song about her kids. Performing from home, her toddler interrupted. A lot. She held her daughter throughout and not only sang beautifully but paid as much attention to her as she could. No headphones (daughter took them) and still sounded perfect. She's just incredible.

This song from her is about how she felt after touring and promoting her album "Jagged Little Pill" for a year. She had achieved what people told her she needed to as a music artist, but didn't feel any happier because of it. She had been looking outside herself for happiness and validation which didn't help. She also spent a year in India which was a strong influence on her coming to terms with herself. This song is about learning through adversity and becoming more empathetic with herself and others.

Almost like she was crying out to find an answer and "Thank U" was written after a trip she made to India. Almost like she found an answer and wrote this song. I mean, that's what it feels like to me but I could be completely wrong. 🤷🏻‍♀

One day my husband came home with this cassette of 'some new singer named Alanis Morissette". I was like, "WHO?". But, Holy man! When I first heard her song, "You Ought To Know" in '95 her voice and explosive lyrics captivated me. And, frankly, some of it's rawness was off putting until I immediately realized here was a singer who's painful relationship experiences were bleeding out onto the sheet music. Her healing journey can be followed in all of her songs. "Thank You", being one of them that tells fans she's working out her demons, found and given forgiveness to those who deeply hurt her. I contend that she's not in the spotlight as much now because she's finally found happiness. How beautiful. I absolutely love her music.

After ‘Jagged little pill’ came out and blew up, she went to India to escape for a while. To become enveloped in a different country and different culture. To escape the media and reclaim her solace. It was a brilliant plan.

Great song that was also added into the movie “The Way”…about a father taking his son’s ashes hiking on el camino - incredible pairing

I cry every time. I'd venture a bet that this is now Amber's favorite Alanis song. "Uninvited" (won the Grammy) from the Meg Ryan/Nicholas Cage movie City of Angels, is amazing. One other favorite is Alanis' (MTV Unplugged) of Sting's "King of Pain". Perfection!

I know that Alanis has grown and matured a lot in the past 30 years - but I still LOVE her very first album. To see her humble beginnings - you should check out Too Hot and Walk Away. The official videos are so fun - and shows off her dancing skills. She still looks AMAZING - and still has that FANTASTIC voice.
