Robyn Hood Review, the new Canadian take on the Classic Robin Hood story and about as opposite the English tale you can get. This show has awful reviews, and deserves it. It's one of the worst TV shows I've ever seen, but was absolutely hilarious because the creators view of the world in Robyn Hood is the exact opposite of all real life morals. Robyn Hood is supposed to be the hero, while actually just being the villain. And the Villain? They gave him all the best lines! But what did you think of what you saw? I was telling my brother a couple weeks back that I don't even watch shows anymore, I just watch other people making fun of them.

The "real" Robin Hood wasn't even a thief or rebel. He was a loyalist and patriot who fought for his people and his king against usurper and traitors.

"Eat the rich" meanwhile they've $20,000 worth of condoms in a jar, a dining room bigger than my entire house, evidentally eat well...

The fact the director called everyone racist for giving bad reactions to this comedy fest, after race swapping everyone except the baddies, is utterly hillarious. They really dont have a clue.

"We are on private property. We can do whatever we want"... the writers have no idea how the law works lol

Nothing screams hollywood than a rich writer using rich peoples money to write a show where a sign that says "eat the rich" is prominent

Aspirational black characters when I grew up: Philip and Vivian Banks dragged themselves up by their bootstraps to become a lawyer and judge, and a university professor, with a nice house in Bel-Air. Aspirational black characters now: I'm a criminal, my apps aren't making me enough money, my mother has to buy my condoms, maybe I can live with my homeless dad. "And finds her, red-handed, stealing the golden coins." Why did the Super Mario Bros. music start playing in my head?

Finally, a story about a strong independent diverse female who dont need no man in her life, who dont need no training to be the best, and is going to stick it to the bad white boss man. disney really need to look into doing stories like this.

I love the mum being like "hey skank daughter you got enough condoms" this was such an interesting look into a different culture.

Mom to daughter:"Filled up the condom jar if you need a re-up" I don't think I can come up with more stereotypical racism if I tried.

As an archer (for 27 years and since I was 3 years old) the idea that someone could go to a camp and be considered an expert is hilarious. It took me weeks to get used to switching from barebow to target recurve. You can't just grab a random bow and expect to do anything useful with it on the first shots.

Overlooked one GIANT mistake. They could go to a bail bondsman and pay 10% of the bail to get mom out. That means they only needed 3K.

I speak on the behalf of all Canadians when I say this show is a disgrace

As if rap didn’t glorify the worst of black culture in storytelling form, now we have a tv show to show it to us.

The most ironic thing about this comedy is that it plays into every offensive racial and sexuality stereotype AND if you don't embrace it YOU'RE the "hater". Was surprised Robyn wasn't also played as an Eskimo in a wheelchair.

As a Canadian I feel this is the most embarrassing thing we've ever done. And we just gave a Nazi a standing ovation in our parliament 2 weeks ago. 🤦‍♂

I really think they missed an opportunity not calling the show "Robbin' the 'Hood"

A woman who weighs, at a guess, 140 lbs kicked a man who weighs, id guess 210 pounds and in 30 pounds of gear, in the knee, and he went flying. And that’s not the least believable thing in this show.

If they had just called it "Robyn's Hood" it would have avoided people complaining about it being nothing like the source material, while also accurately describing the whole show's premise. 😂

This is one of those shows where I would rather watch a 1 hour review roasting it then spend 30 minutes watching the actual show.

One of the more insidious aspects of this is that most residents of so called “hoods” actually support and benefit from increased police presence to protect them from the criminals that this show tries to glorify.

Original Robin Hood- Steals from tax collectors, gives money back to the poor Robyn Hood- Steals from who ever to buy glow masks and mountains of birth control.

I always find it funny that the parties of high taxation have appropriated Robin Hood as their role model... like, they couldn't choose a less fitting character.

Wait, Robyn’s family is supposed to live in “the hood”? Then why does it look so clean, bright, and up kept? Robyn’s mom and sister are even dressed quite nice. Absolute failure of a story both writing and visually.

The thing that I love about this show is how blissfully ignorant the creators and writers are about pretty much everything. They don't understand the folklore of Robin Hood, law enforcement, the "hoods", millennials/ gen z, combat choreography, or even how people actually talk in the real world.

23:30 as an American soldier, the way they have his uniform is hilarious. The camo is OCP/multicam, not the Canadian camo. He's wearing a patrol cap INDOORS for some reason, his left name tape says "ARMY" (not specifying what country) and his right name tape has an initial in it? You have only ONE name on your name tape and it's always your last name. If you have a hyphenated name, they choose the first one, or they combine the two without the hyphen (I've seen on soldier with the name Felicianosantiago on her name tape). And worst of all, no rank on the chest fuzzy. What, he got demoted to an E-1 PVT on his way back from deployment? These showrunners are complete idiots.

This actually makes CW shows look like competant productions.

The MESSAGE is so strong in this show. Very hard to believe it isn’t a parody until you remember that woke idiots were involved.

Hold up. A protest group shows up at a high rise, and there's no media there? The protesters would have called the media to let them know they were going there, because the whole point is to cause a disturbance to get media attention. I mean, of all of the unrealistic things in this movie, that one got me.

It’s amazing that they thought “hood is like HOOD” that’s so creative and a great concept for a television series.

The glowing masks are the same sort of brazen liability as sagging pants when the action starts. You know... I'm getting really sick of being /told/ by characters how smart other characters are in these shows for doing really basic things which are easily countered. The writers can't show smart characters doing smart things because they aren't remotely smart.

“Go live with your father”. Did they already forget they pointed out he has no place of his own? Her mom just told her to go live on the street as a homeless person 🤣

Aren't protests supposed to be held OUTSIDE on the sidewalk in front of the company your protesting. Then the news cameras come by you broadcast your grievances. It's perfectly legal. I've never heard of people bursting into a lobby to protest. Trespassing isn't legal.

I love how Robyn Hood Yells; "stay out of Sherwood!" and the cop HAS ALREADY DRIVEN AWAY 😆😆

Sherwood Forest was around 100,000 acres in the 1200s. There is a reason that it would be hard to find a band of outlaws within it, using only what men could reconnoiter with their own eyes. This Sherwood is ONE FREAKING BUILDING in an era of camera phones, CCTV cameras, and drones. And Robyn and her gang seem to be about as quiet about their criminal enterprises as a drum kit falling down a staircase. One of many, many ways the show seems to ignore the realities of its "modern" setting as convenient...

It’s hilarious that they go through all that trouble, just for bail money. She’s not free. She still has to go to court. Also, they sold a stolen car, just like that? So these punks all are actually long time, serious criminals. They know where to sell high value stolen goods, and they have ties to at least one chop shop. Something tells me that the fathers weren’t the problem. If mom even really let them be in the kids life, they probably left when they realized they were part of some crazy crime family.😅

I hate the term cultural appropriation, but if it was a true thing, this is what it would look like. Taking part of a culture and taking the piss out of it.... this show is looks terrible, lol.

As soon as I heard her bail was set at 30,000 dollars and was deemed a flight risk after she was shot and paralyzed from the waist down, I lost it! 🤣🤣🤣

Next episode: Watch Robyn struggle to care for her flight risk mother while earning money to refill the "mistake avoidance jar." Perhaps her mom can help her launch her music video career; she has the street cred for it now. They see her rollin'. They hatin'. Patrollin' like they gon' catch her ridin' dirty.

Creativity used to involve intelligence and subtlety. The writers of these shows lack any sense of understanding when it comes to the human condition. How did it come to this? Great video - one of the best from Disparu.

I don't think I've heard Disapru belly laugh so many times in a single episode. This show is a masterpiece!

It amazes me how many people have mistaken the Robin hood message. Robin hood never stood for "Steal from the rich and give to the poor". He stood for "Return the wealth that was stolen unfairly". The first one is a super modern take which pretty much undermines Robin's entire story. Robin at least in the early tales he know of was a Yeoman. A minor noble. Basically he had a small plot of land and maybe a house. Robin went against the state because he witnessed so many of his fellow countrymen being overtaxed unfairly by a tyrant on the throne. He went and stole the taxes that were taken unfairly from the poor not stealing from rich people in general. If a merchant was rich and earned their money through hard work then Robin didn't take from them. He had a firm strict belief about that. The only reason he might go after them is if they stole from the poor. Of course not even merchants were safe from the over taxation so it's a bit of a moot point. The merchants would have barely anything worth stealing. Another point I want to clarify poor in medieval terms was a step away from death. There was no state to house or feed you. If you were poor in those times you were likely going to die from dehydration, disease or the cold before hunger is really a problem. The only saving grace for the poor was the church who weren't exactly the nicest people if you were a non believer or of a different faith. The church was also under taxation in those days so they also weren't doing well in terms of wealth either. Robin had no choice but to resort to the life of a criminal. If he could have done it any other way I'm sure he would have but shockingly a rather robust legal system for these things wasn't created yet.

Disparu I've enjoyed your other videos but this has to be the best. They left you so much material to laugh ones ass off. This show truly sucks but it takes itself seriously so that is hilarious. This show is a perfect example of the entitlement that is endemic in the culture. Entitled to break the law anytime, entitled to steal, entitled to complain when consequences for their crimes occur. It's just so stupid. Thanks for the review.

Also I could’ve rewritten it in manga form. Maybe make it set in an alternate version of Canada where maybe that land became a set of northern US states and they live in some rundown projects. So lawless that the cops would chase criminals that end up living in there and need drones and extra cop numbers to get there. For Sherwood Forest projects, it’s the most sustainable housing area that it has its own currency and makes the dollar look like a joke. So very stable and yet endangered by criminal gangs that roam the projects and John Prince the real estate mogul who wants to buy Sherwood Forest and turn it into new condominium apartments for the middle and upper class people from the larger city of Mercia.

In a smartly written story (or even slightly better than dumb story) then Lil’ Jon* would have thrashed Robyn in their spar and it would have made him genuinely uncomfortable. It would have been an easy way to show how just how far above Robyn a trained and experienced fighter is, and also how a familiar standby for Jon is no longer there. His old sparring partner has grown up...but suddenly it’s like she’s moving underwater. If you want to take it a step further, have him use a rather brutal counter out of instinct to some move that she does that puts her in a threatening position. Like, he drives a fist into her gut that makes her dry-heave on the mat, leaving him shocked and trying to find a way to apologize as she attempts to make light of it and he _snaps_ and realizes something terrible: the war followed him home, and Robyn sees the symptoms as a _good_ thing. *Not about to call him Little John.

I do find it funny that they record their crimes and make it easier to find them, because there has been an uptick of criminals posting their crimes on social media That's about the only realistic aspect of this show lol

38:13 To be fair, there actually _is_ clothing like that, though it's not 100% foolproof. There's some that, whenever someone takes a pic of you w/ the flash on, the clothing basically does the same as a road sign when your headlights hit it. The glow of the light off the clothing causes your face to be greatly obscured. There's also some that messes up an AI's ability to read what is an actual face (as opposed to your hideous clothing), but I think it only works in _very specific_ circumstances. So hey: the show should get credit for at least _trying_ in that respect.

Pet peeve on almost every show/movie: whenever firearms are raised, they make cocking sounds, no matter what they are or if they even CAN be cocked. In this case, striker-fired pistols. It grates.

Congratulations to X Director for making a show that almost makes Disney look competent in comparison. I didn't think it possible, but now I'm a believer.

Always love when these stories set up these corrupt authority characters who are looking for any excuse to violate people's rights and have the plot powers to practically excuse/cover-up everything, but when faced with people actually breaking the law, breaking and entering or throwing shit at them, suddenly they're just like 'Damn it, we don't have any grounds to do anything about it. I didn't go to corrupt cop university to use my gun unjustifiably.'

How can they produce such a show... Its horrendous. Watching it should be a national test for mental strength.

It seems to me that all of the drama in the opening scene could have been avoided if when the police showed up, the "heroes" just said something like "Sorry, we were just trying to film a (shitty) music video, we'll leave." No, they decide to resist arrest and assault a police officer, despite breaking the law in the first place. CLAP CLAP Hollywood, well done.

Usually, when the “good guy” decides to commit crimes, there’s scenes where they struggle with the moral conundrum. They’ve been forced into this by circumstance, not choice. The crimes are also targeted specifically at those with more power who are engaged in corruption or wrongdoing. For instance, in the old guy Morgan Freeman bank heist movie, the characters specifically target the bank that shut down their factory and is refusing to honor their pensions, leaving them high and dry after years of working “for the man”. According to them, it is their money by right, the bank is just refusing to honor their pension. Or in the 93 Robin Hood movie, the sheriff has lied about Robin’s family, driving him into the woods, where he learns that the sheriff is also abusing the peasants. With no other way to stop him, Robin Hood begins a guerrilla warfare, targeted not at “the rich” in general but specifically at the blood money from traitorous nobles seeking to support the sheriff in his bid to steal the throne. He also is just stopping the flow of money, not harming the nobles. This, this just dumps all of that in the trash and is like “crime good” 🙄

The absolute bone-headed irony (as many have pointed out) is that Robin Hood was against excessive taxation and government over-reach. The very things this show's creators champion.

I tryed really really hard to watch the first episode, because I like the myth, movies and cartoon. After 20 minutes, I stood up and turned it off. Its so bad, you wanna die of screaming. Which literlly is more exciting.😂

7 minutes in, and I'm already rooting for the 'villain.' Shows like these really need more 'Japanese entertainment.' At least then we could get a reason to hate the villains (like them being a 'happiness cult' out to enslave the world)

The least believable part of this show is that the main character is named Robyn and not Lakeshia

The thing that gets me about this whole plot, aside from all the parts where people act like caricatures, is that making someone's death look like a consequence of an already existing injury would be easier in the hospital than in jail. In the hospital, she's medically unstable, patient privacy laws mean she's not gonna be on camera, and the police have access to her because she's still under arrest. Once she's in jail, she's medically stable (or else the hospital wouldn't let her go) and the amount of security they have to justify not catching her death in time goes up. "Save my mom before she gets to prison" doesn't make sense because she ought to be an assassination target while still in the hospital.

The fact that the gun had an orange tap on it was even the most ironic part there it’s not a real gun lol

The big thing that tells me the writer and director have never been to the hood is the line "they don't talk to cops and they care about each other" Dude, people in the hood don't give a fuck about each other. It's kinda the #1 reason things never get better in the hood

Got to love how tech-savvy the writers of this are, when they say they "wiped down" the data on a video. When they upload it, the police will be able to see it, know when and where it took place as they were there, look at the account that uploaded it, and figure out who to arrest from there.

I think that's another annoying thing about shows like these. They trivialize the amount of training and time it takes to master some of the "skills" that our "I'm the MC and am special" just understands flawlessly. MMA, archery, hacking, you have to learn these things.

I’m jealous of the fact that in 10 years all these shows will be legendary comedy and I’ll have taken a walk into the woods as a failed comedy writer.

It’s a show set in the director X verse. My head canon branch of my gta universe. It’s shows or titles so far: Superfly 2018 And Robyn Hood. Both have criminal themes. And both have romanticizing protagonists. And both have good motives for their gangs.

I made a short film in college called timmy the goldfish, where I was being interviewed about why im going on some sort of talent show and i break into tears, it cuts to me flushing an actual dead goldfish down the colleges toilet with 'im doing this for timmy' playing over it with intermezzo in the background. This show makes that work of "art" feel like an oscar contender.

So this is basically Canadian Gotham Knights with a somewhat Robin Hood theme. The dumpster fire just writes itself.

Calling the sheriff a "Borrower" was pretty great.

I have never felt more sorry for fictional police since the last time I watched Police Academy.

Throughout this entire show did the rich guy or sheriff actually do anything bad? Yes a deputy shot the mom as she & the entire building resisted arrest, but beyond that seems like the “bad guys” were always just reacting to the criminal acts done by the “good guys”

I never thought I'd see a worthy successor to Gotham Knights but I have to say, I'm very pleased to see that one has come along. These shows may be utterly garbage, but Disparu's reviews are comedic gold. It's like the worse the show is, the better the review. Can't wait to find out what insane things happen each week, without actually watching the show itself.
