Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Local leaders joined U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer on Tuesday at Monroe Community College downtown as he announced a highly sought-after federal investment worth approximately $40 million that aims to make Upstate New York an epicenter for the country's semiconductor future.
Rochester teamed up with Syracuse and Buffalo to create a semiconductor hub - the first to be designated with what's being called one of the most competitive awards in the country.
"It means within a few years, a quarter of all semiconductors made in the United States of America will be made within a few miles of our I-90 corridor - running from Albany to Syracuse to Rochester to Buffalo," Schumer said.
