Rock-Boris putting his personal touch on the always popular Hully Gully Holiday. The man is seen here performing on the Swedish Television show "Drop In" on October 30, 1963. The Beatles also appeared that night.

Those female backing singers were part of the singing group, Gals And Pals, which performed earlier in this episode of "Drop In".

In the various parts of the October 30, 1963 episode of "Drop In" here on KZfaq, this performance of "Hully Gully Holiday", by Boris, gets cut apart. Here is the performance in its entirety.

Boris !!! He's good! There was a sittin' public at those (happy) times. Also in Holland in the concerts of Roy Orbison. Only Johnny Hallyday in Amsterdam get them out their chaires. Yes, yes, those days!

Just found out that he is the uncle of Swedens number one horror author: John Ajvide Lindquist, which you might know without knowing you do, thanks to the movies Let the right one in (Swedish) and Let me in (American)

Yet another example of how rock & roll managed to conquer the world - which Americans at the time were totally unaware of. We thought it only existed here at home.

Rest In Peace, Boris. You were one of the TRUE pioneers of Rock music in Europe, and you will be missed by everyone who has had the privilege of listening to your recordings, or watched you perform on this episode of "Drop In". :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

i feel a bit sorry for him given the lack of audience participation. hard to be cool when you stick out like a beanpole.

This episode of "Drop In" serves as an important historical guidepost, displaying the type of Swedish and other European music acts that were popular in the early-1960s. They were reflections of the what was going on in the US music scene at the time. When you compare these acts, to The Beatles' performance on this program, the viewer realizes immediately how revolutionary musically they were at that time. They had a sound and a stage presence that was unlike any other act during that time period in Europe. If you watch The Beatles' performance segment on "Drop In" in its entirety (which is available on KZfaq, and lasts about 12 minutes, and four songs (which was a rarity for such a music program at the time)), you will see that this quiet, reserved Swedish audience becomes immediately affected by the presence of the band as they get ready to perform in front of the audience. By the end of the show, this stiff Swedish audience was really being rocked by The Beatles.
