Rock Fishing for Smooth Hounds

Fishing off the rocks on the south east coast for a few smooth hounds using frozen peeler as bait.
Rigs Used:
3ft Up n Over 40lb snood with a 1/0 bottom and 4/0 circle
3ft Pennel Pulley 40lb snood with a 1/0 bottom and 4/0 circle
Bait:
Frozen Peeler

Thanks man, appreciate all the support. Ah you'll be waiting for smoothies for another few months. Painted ray and Cod are the best targets for the winter until the smoothies turn back up.

Hey man, Thanks for watching. This isnt one of my marks and was shown to me so out of respect of the other angler i dont like to give their marks away. As for the time of year. I usually release a video within a few days of making it unless they are incredibly long. But this session was in August i believe we fished on the 8th of august 2020 and video was put out on the 9th

Sound buddy completely understand if u were to put up an exact location that fished really well it would be swamped with people and would not stay a top mark,but cheers for replying so quickly,best of luck in future adventure's,👍

Great video mate, filming in the dark is not easy. I am impressed with the sophistication of your rigs, great knowledge you are sharing in every video. Kudos! Now question, why are you crushing the barb in the circle hook?

Ya filming in the dark is difficult all right and its unfortunate a lot of the summer sessions are night time ones but has to be done. The reason I crush the barb is completely for fish welfare but also I find that the hook up rate is better as there is less resistance when the hook sets and once the fish is landed it's very easy and quick to remove. Reduces stress on the fish and reduces time out of the water.

Is mackerel a good bait for smooth hounds ?

It wouldn't be my top bait. They are generally in chasing crabs but not to say mackerel wont get you some. They are opportunistic so they wont turn up free bait
