He finds away to blend two artists an their songs into a new sound an it's amazing. I suggest Checkin out these two songs first as they are the two that made me a fan. SLAYER× B-52s "Raining Lobsters". A mix of B-52's rock lobster and Slayers Raining Blood. The other song would be George Michael and Kiss mashup called "Never Without Your Love Gun"

Most songs by _Lacuna Coil_ (Italian Metal with male/female duet vocals) or even Lacuna Coil _covering_ R.E.M.'s "Losing My Religion" 3. An 80s _David Bowie_ tune (like "China Girl" or maybe "Modern Love")? 4. Something by _Dead Can Dance_ which I would really love to hear you parse out with your knowledge 😊 Quickie "Circumradiant Dawn" on thw alblum Spleen & Ideal or song "Opium" would be fun! 5. Anything by Cocateau Twins! Like "Blue Bell Knoll" (alblum namrle or especially the song itself) I can be more specific upon request, my dear!

Reaction/Analysis/Deep Dive Request: As you are a HUGE fan of Queen AND Freddie Mercury, I'm sure that you're WELL aware of the fact that one of the key elements to their sound is the 3-part vocal harmonies of Freddie, Brian May (Lead guitarist) & Roger Taylor (Drummer) (Bass guitarist John Deacon DID NOT contribute vocals in the studio. When performing live, his microphone was almost ALWAYS set to either "LOW" or "OFF". While filming music videos, he would mime his "vocals"). As you have already expressed your opinions and feelings regarding Freddie, I'm surprised that you have YET to do deep dives into the other 2 voices that make their harmonies SO WELL KNOWN and remembered. Here are 2 Queen songs with Brian and Roger each singing lead vocals, respectively: "'39": kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oatonqp-y77Fdok.html (Brian May on lead vocals) "I'm in Love with My Car": kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l551jLh80tPSoZc.html (Roger Taylor on lead vocals) BONUS! As we've already established, with Freddie being Freddie, he was MORE THAN CAPABLE of recording ALL OF THE VOCALS for a song without help from the other members of the band & THIS song is the PERFECT example of that. Brian & Roger ONLY contributed guitar and drums, respectively. (WARNING: Contains false ending, let video play til the end!) "You Take My Breath Away": kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rMWnf7GiuuCboIE.html

A couple of things: 1. The line “Put on your noseguard” doesn’t refer to nose plugs but instead refers to zinc oxide sunscreen which was commonly applied to the nose by lifeguards to prevent sunburn. 2. The bikini whale references a significantly overweight person who wears bikinis to the beach/pool. The scream after that reference isn’t the sound a bikini whale makes but is rather the scream of horror one makes when seeing a bikini whale.

That was so much fun 🤣😂🙃😂🤣 I ♥ The B-52's, and it was such a thrill to have them on this channel, great choice Elizabeth 😊

"Private Idaho" is my favorite B-52s.

Had so much fun with you on this - still smiling !! The B52s were so talented in so many ways.

Suggest "Roam" for your next B-52s track... strict focus on the ladies and their stunning vocal talents
@reliantncc18648 ай бұрын
While I certainly agree that's a good song for listening to the ladies, I'd promote "Topaz" instead. The girls are still the center of the song, but Fred gets a role too. It also leads well into "Follow Your Bliss," which should probably be included in the same session.

Thank you for laying so much emphasis on the "animal sounds" ❤

Blast from the past! So glad you did this. Just way too much fun and all of these years later, still makes me laugh!! If you haven't listened to their song "Love Shack" - do! It's even sillier. And yes - total snark. Always reminded me of a comedy attack on 50's music.

Great reaction Elizabeth!! That was the epitome of FUN! I've always loved this song - it's such a weird, quirky & let's face it, ridiculous piece - but harmless fun!! As a lover of all things bass (the instrument not the fish), this also appeals to my senses immensely - that surf groove the whole way through has me going til the end! Thanks for analyzing this track - looked as though you were having loads of fun as well! Cheers.

This reaction was so much fun to watch! I started following your channel for the metal reactions, but i'm so happy for gems like these!

Me and my close group of friends are serious metalheads, we used to go to a dive bar in our hometown and every time would put on this song on the jukebox and everyone would get so pissed lol

I'd love to hear your thoughts on "Candy" by Iggy Pop featuring Kate Pierson from the B-52's. It was years before I realized that it was Kate as the second vocalist.
@fusiliers8 ай бұрын
Yes! A largely forgotten gem that I think Elizabeth would really enjoy. From roughly the same time, Kate's backing vocals on R.E.M's "Me In Honey" are oustanding.

@fusiliers And also Kate backing R.E.M's "Shiny Happy People"... Maybe I just love Kate's voice and exuberance?

Candy is one of my favourite songs! Kate's singing on that song was some of her best work! REM's, Shiny happy people is a close second!

Absolutely!! I am so enamored at how Iggy and Kate's voices combine... she has such a classic sound and look in the video while Iggy is just as cool.as he always has been...

Their contrasting voices were amazing. First hear you knew is was one of the B52's. The live version floating around from a TV show was awesome to watch, as they bounced off each other. Kate was fierce in holding her ground against Iggy's onslaught towards the end.

My kids love this song since i introduced it. And my daughter loves the sea animals mentioned at the end. It's a great song.

The B-52's were and are a truly special act. Weird or quirky is an understatement. They would use party favor kazoos, childrens toy pianos, and of course Ricky Wilsons guitar is almost impossible to reproduce due to truly bizarre tuning, and the fact he only used four strings, literally, he only had four strings on his guitars. Kate and Cindy are terrific. Planet Claire and 52 Girls are great, my favoirte vocals was probably on Dead Beats Club, which wasn't a hit single, but thirty years later still mesmerizes me.

There are some great early videos of them performing live. I really like the girls' harmonies in many of their songs. Kate did some side projects including Shiny Happy People with REM. That would be a cool one to check out.

Great choice Elizabeth. If you want to get more of the ladies vocals (both very talented singers), check out B 52's "Love Shack", it's a great, cheerful, good time pop-song that will stick in your ear for days.

I grew up in "da hood" during the time this song was popular. I was 80's heavy metal, oldies, gangs ... blah blah blah. Occasionally, at night, laying in bed, I'd scroll the radio dial for something different from the usual 80's pop, something different from what I was USED to listening to. Somewhere on the left end of the dial, I'd come across a station that played obscure, weird music like Rock Lobster and Laurie Anderson's O Superman ... talk about broadening my music listening horizons. I was instantly hooked. TO ME, that kind of music was regulated to upper middle class listeners. Just so different.

The girls were inspired by Yoko Ono at the beginning. Yoko joined them in concert later-on. Their song, Planet Claire (played on a rooftop) is also impressive.

Love your vocalizations. The whole point of this song, and most music in general, is just to have fun.

How many years it took to me to realized that Kate was doubling the synth on Planet Claire intro !!!! We didn't have you tube at that time , she follow it all along. Need a good sound system or headphones to really appreciate it. You have to listen to it if you didn't know.
@jasonwhiton1742 ай бұрын
Super fun! I've always loved how playful they were on this track especially. I remember John Lennon loving it because he saw it as a new example of how Yoko had been approaching her vocalizations.

Kate Pierson is a goddess but the entire group is amazing for doing their very own thing for so long yet achieving great success with alternative pop magic. A future reaction to Roam or My Own Private Idaho would be even more amazing. Thanks!
