What was actually said was not that the protomolecule hit Phoebe, but that the protomolecule was ON Phoebe, which was shot at the solar system and then captured by Saturn's gravity well before it could reach Earth.

It would take a whole lot more for someone to blow up Luna with a diameter with a mean diameter of 3474 km, compared to Deimos' 12.4 km. Luna would be called a dwarf planet if it was not orbiting Earth while Deimos is just a big rock.

The image of the stealth ship that Fred Johnson sent to Avarsarela was the one that Alex shot the shit out of near Thoth station. He has also sent Avarsarela the data that she would need to send a "fact-finding mission" to investigate the ship. Because it has one of the drives that was built and Bush Naval Shipyards.

The distinction they're trying to draw between Cortazar and "a homicidal maniac" is that Cortazar isn't _driven_ to murder people like a serial killer is. It's more that he has no moral qualms about killing people (even, as we've seen, a huge number of people) to get what he wants, because he's incapable of seeing other people as _people_ . He won't just randomly up and stab somebody for no reason. But he will beat a guy to death with a bench if he gets in his way.

A few quick things. A snort is indeed slang for a shot of whiskey. I think the term came out of the American west (cowboys) I think from things you've said you guys are in England...maybe? You don't have strong accents, but a phrase like "bloody hell" sounds very English to my Yankee ear 😆 You called the game squash... but without rackets. Seemed like handball to me, but I don't know much about either. As for Cortazar and the look he gives upon learning the protomolecule was nuked. Don't think it's empathy. I think it was like a druggie who just watched his drugs get flushed. Finally, Miller and why he killed Dresden. I think the "he was making sense" line is about bring able to rationalize mass murder. He had just killed a HUNDRED THOUSAND people and appeared ready to kill as many more as necessary. Monsters like him will try to make sense of their "work" in order to mitigate the horror of genocide. So, Miller decided it was time to stop that now. We all thought it revenge for Julie. But Miller was just being pragmatic....kill the fucking mad scientist! 😜
@RamblersInc
@RamblersInc Жыл бұрын
Oooohhhhhhh. Ok I get it. I thought snort was something else 👃 Lol we're English. Handball definitely makes more sense. Hmm. Maybe he just doesn't have empathy towards other humans? Also, aren't druggie's "hyper emotional" ? Totally agree with ending the mad scientist.......just....get him to tell us stuff before we do that 🤣

@@RamblersInc Sure, I agree. Getting as much info before killing the psychopath scientist would be best. But where's the drama in that? 😆 BTW, with or without an accent. I can always tell British by the difference in our curses. Bloody hell isn't American. I think we would likely say son of a bitch 😆 And that can be said many ways. Make it loud and put a heavier emphasis on the bitch and you have surprise... As in Son of a BITCH!!! or maybe you kind of mumble it in a lower dragged out tone to show disappointment. 😆 it's versatile 😂 Bloody hell is probably the same? Tone always plays a big factor. 😁

15:58 - No, what was implied was that Phoebe was sent to our solar system and was captured by Saturn´s gravity. In fact, real life Phoebe has an opposite orbit to all other Saturn´s moons, which means that it came from further away in our solar system. Also, remember that Phoebe should have hit Earth long before any humans were around.

I don't have a time stamp, but you asked at some point what would happen if Earth's moon got blown up. While it isn't really feasible to do that with the human technology displayed in The Expanse (it's way too big and massive), there is a fantastic science fiction book that is all about what would happen in that case. It's "Seveneves" by Neil Stephenson. And without spoiling that book, let's just say the results would be sub-optimal for the human species.

One comment regarding the story. As much as I love the series & the books (just finishing Leviathan Wakes), one inescapable point of irritation I find is Naomi Nagata. Like she’s doing here 7:00, her character has absolutely no problem telling others what to do, how to live, & being their moral judge & jury. That’s easy to do when no one knows your history. But as you’ll find out, she’s the last person who should be that. She’s beloved in the world of the Expanse, but her holier than thou sanctimoniousness & hypocrisy always bothered the hell out of me. At least in the first few seasons. And especially in regards to Holden, who - say what you want about his idealism - but the last thing he is is a hypocrite.

@@RamblersInc the one big downside to the TV series, as opposed to the books, is that only the one "belter" on the first episode( the one being gravity tortured), vaguely resembled what Belters are supposed to look like - the further out into the belt and less gravity, the more spindly.. Naomi Nagata is supposedly nearly 7 felt tall and rather fragile looking - conisdering where she grew up it makes sense. Miller will defy that, since he was born & raised on Ceres which has the most gravity in the entire belt - Tall, but not enormously so.
