They tipped the hat to Elvis with the hairstyle (Priscilla), the red guitar (Evlis comeback tour), the black jumpsuit (Elvis), the red jumpsuit (Elvis band), silver boots (Elvis silver shoes). The song was written by Mark James, an American singer/songwriter, who recorded it the year it was written. The best known version, however, was that done by Elvis Presley. It was his last No 1 song. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, Mark James is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of." Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song. The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family. Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).

To the best of my knowledge, Angelina does all of her own arrangements. And - in so doing - she allows us to to better hear & feel the lyrics & the essence of each song she sings. This was definitely a family production - the Executive Producer Mery Zamani is Angelina's grandmother, the 2 younger girls are her cousins & the older girl is her younger sister Juliette. It is also a great tribute to Elvis - Angelina's beehive hairdo is reminiscent of Priscilla Presley & her black leather jumpsuit & red Hagstrom guitar are just like Elvis used in his "Comeback Tour". Shortly after Angelina finished AGT, at age14 she signed a contract with Republic Records. Her 1st release (which she wrote herself as a tribute to her late grandfather) was Million Miles. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Her Uncle Michael Astar, has been her agent and manager since she won Norway's got talent at age 8. This is the greatest female vocalist to ever live. She has always since age 6, arranged her own music. She had her own band full time after Norway's got talent. This cover was in tribute to the release of the Elvis documentary released last summer. The guitar was barrowed by Elvis from one his band members during the 1969 TV Comeback Concert. This guitar is not the same one but it is one of the same make, model, and color, which matched Elvis outfit that day. I'm pleased that you are reacting to Angelina, but you need some more background: 1- she does all of her own arrangements, including as far back as "I Put a Spell on You" to which you've already reacted. 2- she signed with Republic Records in Aug22. That's Rob Christie, West Coast Director of RR backing her up on the piano (and wearing a jumpsuit similar to those Elvis' backup group wore on his comeback concert, and the red Hagstrom Viking semi-hollow body is identical to the one he used. Angelina's also wearing a black leather suit like he did at that event and sports a beehive hairdo honoring Priscilla). RR have basically given her a carte blanche contract (probably the only one her uncle would sign for her or allow her to sign). They provide support when she wants/needs it, but let her do her thing on her own like she's always done. She's sung at some major events without their involvement since signing, although I'm sure they got her into last weekend's performance at FIFA's Awards ceremony, which gave her exposure to something like 300 million soccer fans world wide. If you look on TikTok you'll find Angelina accompanying herself on her green guitar while singing "House of the Rising Sun"...I suspect that you might enjoy that one! 8-))

Now 17 years old and living in Los Angeles, she is signed with a major record company called Republic Records, whose clients include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake to name a few. Her family and Republic Records have agreed not to heavily promote her just yet so she can live as normal of a life as possible and finish her schooling. Apparently, it looks like this is the year that she will be finished and her new album of new music is coming out later this year. When it comes to arrangements of her songs, she makes most of, if not all, the decisions on how she wants to do a song.

Angelina is in always in total control of her arrangements of her cover songs. No one dictates how her songs are to song and arranged. Angelina is the total artist an the responsible for them musically and style wise. She may input from others but the final say is her hers. . Angelina, as many of her supporting musician, whom have great respect for her arranging prowess have stated, she is the boss , but she does it always in a humble and respectful way to the musicians and staff around her. This re-arrangement is hers, as is the case with all her covers. She signed with Republic Records (best company in the music business) when she was 14, with the stipulation that they would allow her to be a "normal" teenager and not promote her big time until she graduated high school (this coming May/June). She has been paired with Grammy winner Rob Christie (Direction of RR LA Studio), and together they have created some of the best music I've ever heard. Having just turned 17, she just performed with Redone at the FIFA 2023 Awards Ceremony with a viewing audience of about 300M worldwide. She will be a worldwide SuperStar.

Our tiny little girl with the grownup voice was 17 on Jan. 10, 23 and is now 6'1" tall and could be a super model, but I hope the major portion of her career will be dedicated to her music and taking the world to a better place. I don't think she even realizes this power she holds over us and the need to hear that signature voice to fill that empty void within all of us. Angelina Jordan is in fact the "Benchmark" for all other vocalist to try as they might to achieve. I have a number of pictures of celebrities whose height is known, for example, Austin Butler, who played Elvis, is 6ft tall, and AJ published a picture of her standing next to him, she was at least 1 inch taller than him, and she had to look down at him.

In many of Angelina's covers, she will pay tribute to the artists of the songs she covers. In this one, she is extending homage to Elvis. She also does her own arrangements or, at least, has very much input into the way her music is done. In this case, she departed from Elvis by slowing the tune down and singing it in a way the lyrics actually ask for. Elvis covered it like the original, a virtual pop "dance" tune, although the lyrics are a sad, emotional and heartbreaking tale of an impending breakup and lost love. Elvis had borrowed it from Al Casey, one of the session musicians of the Comeback Special band. The original guitar recently sold at auction for over $660,000. The piano and mic are like the ones in the Sun studio in Memphis, where Elvis started his recording career. The piano player is Rob Christie, a top studio exec at her label, Republic Records. He is dressed in the same garb as the '68 Special bandmembers were in that broadcast. The young girl(s), Angelina's relatives, are a nod to Elvis's and Pricilla's kid, Lisa Marie, may God love her soul. The last segment of the children shows Angelina's sister, Juliette, as a 9 year old Lisa Marie. That was how old Lisa was when her dad died. Many reactors guess that the children in this video denotes Angelina growing up, but all the symbolisms is about Elvis and not Angelina. There is a short segment of Angelina reposing on a couch. She is wearing what look like mismatched shoes. One is blue suede, yes? Many of the antique shop artifacts, particularly the old red fabric chair in the background seem "fit for a king". The artistic production may have been by her executive producer and grandmom, Mery Zamani. The Barefoot Angel signed a contract with Republic Records on 2020 at 14 years old, and she has the rights to continue with her own style of music because no one is capable to match her talent in arrange her music. Of course, she is open to suggestions by the experts in moving ahead in her music journey, but the ultimate decision is hers.

It's a great movie with a lot of references to Elvis and Priscilla, the presence of her sister juliette and two cousins is cute ! As we see at the begining her grandma Merry Zamani is executive producer so I thinh she want to have her four grandchildren both in this video ! She can be proud I think !

Her Uncle was instrumental (sorry bad pun) in training her with music and instruments while her grandmother helped nurture her artistic side. On top of that she had a family friend author that nurtured her writing and she already has a best seller. Incredibly while she has this amazing support her mother made sure Angelina called shots and was free to express herself without been overshadowed by the talent around her. There is a great online documentary about her if you want to know more. Also while she has now signed her mother also delayed that as long as possible for obvious reasons. Finally she performs barefoot because in subtle awareness campaign on poverty. The whole story is touching but to long for here.

She arranges all her own stuff and the guitar was Elvis. She has put the focus back on lyrics and the single instruments often accompaniment let’s you hear them better. Refreshing to not have everything so loud and singers screaming to be heard. She never has to scream .

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.
