I think its called "Glissando". It is a quick glide through all of the keys. Im a pianist and i also do "slides" on piano. I dunno if glissando is the correct term for guitar slides

One of my favourite guitar slides is Mick Ronson's slide at the end of Bowie's 1973 Hammersmith performance of Rock & Roll Suicide. It's a crowning coup de grace that slides in just as Bowie says "Bye-bye! We love you!"

It could be that you are pushing in the strings with too much force. Or it could be that you are not sliding fast enough. =] Keep playing about with it.
