I’m sorry, you just can’t compare Elvis Presley to anybody today. First of all, Little Richard, on a national talk show, the host was trying to complement him on inventing rock ‘n’ roll… Little Richard stopped him and said “no! No! Elvis Presley invented rock ‘n’ roll.“ Nobody today has invented anything new. Some might say originality isn’t everything but it’s a lot. Now this song ‘just pretend,’ is a soul full and sexy live performance and so typical of Elvis Presley.

There was the Godfather of soul, James Brown, which came out the year after Elvis. Then you have the King of Rock, Elvis presley. Elvis was not a "character " as you called him. He was a singer with a 3 octave range, who used his body to both dance and later conduct his band. He was banned from radio stations, states and most of his live performances were only filmed from the waist up. He. Was the first with crazy hair, first dancing vulgar, first with the costumes.... he took his foot, bashed down the music door and changed music.

Elvis should NEVER be compared to anyone especially of today's so called musical talent which there's little of when it comes to showmanship and charisma. He was the first superstar in music. The first rock star. The first ICON. The first everything. There's a reason John Lennon said "before Elvis there was nothing". Lady Gaga and Niki Minaj would not exist without Elvis. No one would. He was also a race integrator who opened the doors for black music to go mainstream. Watch Elvis And The Black Community-The Echo Will Never Die and you will learn more about him. All that said, nice reaction.

It's exciting to see you discover that Elvis could sing! And I'm not at all surprised that you didn't know. As you hear more of his music, you'll be even more amazed. If he couldn't sing, I doubt he would have been inducted into 5 Music Halls of Fame: Rock 'N Roll, Rhythm & Blues, Country, Gospel, and Rockabilly. Back in the day music stars were not created by others like they are today. Their singing ability was what mattered. Elvis had a unique voice and he alone decided how he would interpret songs, how he would dress, how he would wear his hair, etc. Even though everyone associates him with the fancy jumpsuits, he didn't actually start wearing them until a good 15 years into his career. Elvis is definitely worth a deep dive, and please don't limit yourselves to live performances only. He recorded over 700 songs, and many of them were never performed live or were not filmed.

I was fortunate to see Elvis twice in Chicago. I get what your saying, he had his own mystique. Mystique wouldn't be the word though. His charisma, soul, and the power of his voice. Take a look at the Aloha From Hawaii rehearsal show, the song, What Now My Love. Not only that performance but many others are in another realm. He could sing anything, and if you saw him in person, this may sound a bit out of the ordinary, but when Elvis came on stage with the intro of 2001 the arena lit up with camera flashes and felt like something very very special just landed. He had a God gifted talent, connected naturaly with people and fans and never ever forgot where he came from.

To me just to sum up just how great Elvis was. In the early 70's when satellites where sent into space and we gained the ability to broadcast shows around the world. The big tech came to Elvis to put on the first globally televised show. It was Aloha From Hawaii. Nothing beat the viewership of this concert until I believe Live Aid came out with their concert to fight AIDS. An often over looked song by Elvis is "Don't cry daddy". It actually followed me the first time I heard it because it just didn't sound like Elvis. It was the first time I ever heard him do such such a gentle meaningful song. Still my favorite Elvis song.

To hear more of Elvis's terrific and versatile voice I'm recommending two short songs that could be done in one reaction: (1) Elvis Presley - Surrender - Best Version (1:57) and (2) Elvis Presley - Rags to riches (2:03). They're not live but both include slideshows. And to see what he wore onstage in the '50s (3) Elvis Presley - Good Rockin' Tonight (2:13). If you choose the version with him onstage outside in the black shirt and pants, it includes random performance videos so you can see some of his early moves too.

It's always a little bit funny to me when people are surprised he could sing. I kind of love it (!!) because it means people are giving him a chance outside of the standard image (fat, "thank you very much" - which yes, he said ALL THE TIME - and impersonators) that has become a joke really. Hearing him sing.... it's obvious he was no joke. And he has always been a "different kind" of artist - that was a great observation. He's incredibly sincere when performing, it draws you in. He makes you feel the words. Hope you enjoy discovering more Elvis, there's a lot out there. Since everyone else is leaving you recommendations, I'll add my favorite to the pile: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o7KSgqWgxp7adGw.html (Bridge Over Troubled Water).

Notice in the very beginning he's signing an autograph stop the show to talk to a fan, Elvis could sing anything, and Elvis was the same on stage as he was off stage, I hope you dive into the Elvis rabbit hole you will discover the greatest entertainer of all time I enjoy your honest reaction thank you

Brad & Lex, if you thought Elvis Presley couldn’t sing, you have truly missed out on a special person. You’ve only started your journey! Keep going. Thanks

I know many Elvis songs, surprisingly I've never hear this one. Thx for the discovery. Growing up with an older sister and big Elvis fan, I had no choice but to listen to Elvis everyday. From his movies to Christmas albums, Elvis was part of our household. I have many favorites by Elvis but the one I find super amazing is "American Triology".

I also told them to react to American Triology as one of Elvis songs. I think we need to get a lot more people to also do the same so they will see all these messages coming in.

actually elvis has one the most unusaul voices and also great voice. when you get a chance couple songs to check out las vega 1970 live (BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER) Hawaii 1973 live (AMERICAN TRILOGY) 1970 LAS VEGAS live (SUSPICIOS MINDS) this is a great performance last but not least from his 1968 comeback special live (IF I CAN DREAM) make sure you do the one in the white suit. it is a tribute to MLK after his assasination very powerful performance. i think you will realize why he is revered as a entertainer and a singer. make sure you do the live performances

The Rolling Stone Magazine named him #2 of the best male singers of the 20th century. I guess he can sing "quite well"......🎶 😊 He could sing everything and he did! You will always hear a 'different' Elvis.......but you will always know it's Elvis! His voice was unique!
