The Courtney Love part is non sense and her biological father Hank Harrison was the long time manager of the Grateful Dead themselves, making millions over the years in their best days 60's and 70's. Love was raised in luxury, and has never been broke or close to broke. Even Dave Grohl was from a prominent political family in Washington DC, but fan sheep think he was from Seattle Washington ! No, the other way around it was Washington DC.

*was - as in past tense. He's been pushing up daisies for doing what Prince did as well. Sad that they made choices that led to OD'ing on Fentanyl. If Petty had just postponed his last concert and allowed his broken hip to heal properly (we don't heal as fast in our sixties nor do we metabolize medicstions/drugs as quickly as when we're young) then he'd still be singing and playing and able to retire comfortably. Talk about running down a drain.

I know a guy who was in a moderatley successful rock band in the 80's, aired on MTV, played bass for Prince to end up back at his parents house broke by 1990. He eventually revived his career, went back on gigs and touring.

@GuitarLessonsBobbyCrispy 2 жыл бұрын
It's not just the money you make, it's also the overhead. Touring is mega-expensive for a band. Van Halen's 1984 tour never made any money because they had 18 trucks hauling around their stage and equipment consisting of 2,000 lights.

I played the L.A. club circuit from late 1979 through 1982 as lead guitarist in Lip Service. also Bowie learnt his lesson early on, he then kept a tight reign on his financial managers,diversified his investments. Same with Tom Petty, he was hugely wealthy when he passed. Stephen Tyler said on Joe Rogan, he only started to see real cha ching $$ when he was a judge on BGT. his managers made a point of making sure they were too stoned to know which way was up. Or the ones you trusted and paid to look after your money, just didnt. at your own peril, many many musicians went stoney broke.

You might remember The Mamas and the Papas. When they broke up and went to collect their money from the record company (Dunhill/Warner Bros.), they learned that each one of the (4) members owed $250,000. 1968 dollars. Probably over a million dollars a piece in today's dollars. Denny Doherty told me this himself when we were working together on a stage musical. They put out another album to cover the deficit. It didn't do as well as their previous albums, but covered the debt. He was a very sweet guy with a great sense of humour, but totally cynical about the Biz. No wonder! RIP, Denny.

I read David Bowie saw very little of the money from his awesome 70's work thanks to RCA swindeling him. After wrangling his way outta RCA he then released the global hit album "Lets Dance" in '83 and really started to earn. His revenge was better still when later in the '90's he secured then resold the rights to his entire back catalogue for around 50 000 000, whilst retaining future royalties and all rights to commercial use of his music. At the time of his death his wealth was estimated to be around half a billion dollars. Clever guy. RIP Dave

Goo goo dolls held on they deserve so much more than most musicians. Im glad they stuck to their roots and remained real and down to earth. It saddens me to hear this about that their record label was such a corrupt deal for them . Way to go Goo Goo dolls for pressing on and preserving through the hardships of fame and fortune. A couple of young musicians from buffalo, NY with humble beginnings and overcoming such adversity. Im glad to see your still together and priorities have changed. May God Bless the members of the Goo Goo dolls and their families. I love you Goo Goo Dolls. Thank you for all you do and being kind to your fans and remembering us back home. Lots of love and prayers on your journey may God draw you out of the world and it’s influences into a loving relationship with Him to be filled with his love and peace to direct your paths and find that God draws us out of our trials and tribulations and the broken roads leading us straight to Him. To save us from destruction and be reconciled back to him through receiving the perfect loving gift Jesus Christ. May your blessings and gifts bestowed upon you show and glorify God that is my prayer for the Goo Goo dolls.

Doreen Boadu--i’m guessing the comment was made because people believe she killed Kurt Cobain or had something to do with it… I thought that for many years too until I watched many documentaries and read many facts about how messed up poor Kurt really was in real life! His own mother and sister who raised Frances even said so but the thing that really got me was that not even a month before he was found shot in the head Courtney found him overdosed almost dead and called and saved his life so here’s my question she had her out right then and there. She had an opportunity he was overdosed he barely made it alive by the time medics found him she could’ve let him die then but she chose to save him just to wait and blow his brains out or have it done? I mean out of all the things I read about Kurt and Courtney that’s the one that truly made me believe she had nothing to do with it. Was she messed up absolutely but she had the opportunity to just let him go and she would’ve gotten his money regardless and sooner! I think she’s just another person who relies on medication, a substance to get through life...sadly! It’s really too bad!

Lori Banks exactly why I said what I said. I wanted to know why she would think she killed him and if she was there when she did. Many people assume she killed him but my question has always been if she did I’m sure there would an arrest. What you said is all true is just sad that we live in the world were the lie is no entertaining than the truth. I did a case study in uni about this and I know for fact he killed himself then again that’s just my belief.

@@lorib.4735 I agree. Like Kurt, I have depression and coincidentally tried to kill myself at 27. Being a messed up person is nothing to sneeze at and Courtney is at least innocent at this. However, I always wondered if Courtney could have killed him in self defense. That would explain why she could've saved him. At first she obviously loved him and wanted him to live. Then one night Kurt possibly demanding drugs from Courtney tried to kill her and she shot him in self defense. It wasn't planned. Problem was why would she then write a suicide note instead of just saying what happened. And he actually wanted to name an album I hate myself and I want to die. And why would she move his body to the greenhouse? Courtney is many things but a murderer isn't one.
