In the 80s??? Life was shit, there was tons of shit music and shit movies. And there’s tons of great music and great movies now. If you think the 80s were some perfect idyllic time then you didn’t live through them. Do you have the constant worry of global nuclear war? I’d take this ongoing pandemic over that any day. I lived through the whole 80´s and I know this like many others. Of course there were problems, like any other decade. But people were not constantly worried about everything you said. Good memories is what most of the people choose to keep, and of course there are those trolls who choose to be negative about everything and reply with a disrespectful tone... like you. I was 16 years old (1982) when I heard the first breakdance music into my ears. I was 17 when I started the first B-Boy group in our town. We were Up-Rockin it all the way years after. At last, I was the last man standing from the group I created, cause they all went into marriage.

I feel ya and same here with my crew "Windy City Breakers". Unfortunately, most of them either ended up getting killed due to gang violence or was locked up in prison. It was only a handful of us left today and only myself and cousin are the only ones left in the Windy City. The good old days when Friday and Saturday nights was nothing but bboying with the crew.

I remember seeing Crazy Legs Dancing on stage at the Roxy. His windmills were so powerful he created a breeze that cooled us off in the front row. Good times. You would see everyone hanging out there.

I remember seeing break dancing on a music show we have here in Australia in 1984 and how shocked we all were seeing this kind of dancing and how amazing it was!! Young people of today will never know the awe we felt seeing this introduced to the mainstream world for the first time!

Watching this bring tears to my eyes and heart ..they are legends and the reason I started breaking in mid 80s I been on British TV a few times and used to do shows all over London and get payed for breaking it was awesome my only regret is not carrying on as you get older your flexibility goes but now I look at bboys now I spit out my cup of tea in disbelief at the stuff bboys doing now...a white European bboy called STORM kept breaking alive and the power moves progressed...breaking and Poppin found its way to South Korea n Japan etc then it was truly on like popcorn I started to witness miricles being birthed I like to know that all of us early bboys that were here at the start of it all contributed lots to breakdancing if it wasn't for us there wod be no YOU ...stay blessed to the bboys n bgirls all across the flat plane (not planet) called earth keep it real stay blessed ...PEACE

Storm certainly carried a torch on the continent but few knew him in the uk until we started travelling out to boty. That was mid to late 90s. It was uk rocksteady up north and second to none / born to rock on the south who kept it alive on these shores.

I was 11 when hip hop was all the rage, we had after school classes on how to lock and pop, I never could do the windmill, it was the best. People were breaking their necks spinning on their heads so was banned. The chime sound always makes me feel sad at the end

breaking is an art form as is all dance styles! love dancing since birth and I'm 47 now n stil love it! can't do as much as i once use to do but I give it my best shot wen i feel phisically able too minus breaking of course but it's fair game for tap street and yoga!

Uprock was the dance a.k.a. Brooklyn Rock or Top Rock Facts, it started in Brooklyn. Bronx took it to the ground and broke it down to breakdance.

I’m only 10 years old can my dad thought me to live this music and it is better that’s the music now with no feeling and happiness. I still do graffiti, breakdance, and love old cars. When I was talking about graffiti I just did one on my pants and it looks sick. Thanks to my dad I wouldn’t be the cool kid I am now🙏😎🎶👏

This is a great video! I don't think I've seen it before, I'm surprised it hasn't popped up more often. It shows so much of the real breakin and uprocking moves from back in the day. Nowadays people have competitions using these moves, but these are the OGs!

The Break Dance Level is XXL here, they are high grade dancers ! ...I did not live in NY at that time but we practiced break dance in my neighborhood in France like all teenagers ! I do not know that song and that video clip, thanks to share that track which come from the best 20th century era !

Y'all had 'bands' and MCs in '83 but not bboy crews. This uprock style is native to NY and goes back to the late 60s. By this time, 83-84, uprocking as a dance style, a sub-style of breaking was being reinvented by NY crews like Rock Steady. Cookie Crew and them were just getting started in the UK around that time.

They did exist. I have friends who were strong into the culture as early as 82, but most people got into it around 84. If you want to get a snap shot of what was happening around that time, look up 'Electro Rock'.

@@TheGodParticle Early heads will state jeffry Daniels on top of the pops as an influence. Duck rock video was iconic. Style Wars aired on British tv in 1985. Wild style was released in 1980, I forget the air date here.... Beat Street. Breakdance. There was a lot - it wasn't quiet at all. Enough to generate a subculture that flourishes to this day....
