It was September 1981, and Taha bumped into all four members of the band just before they were due to play at the Théâtre Mogador in Paris. Taha gave them a copy of a demo tape by his band, Carte de Séjour. "They looked interested," remembers Taha, "but when they didn't get in touch, I thought nothing of it. Then, a few months later, I heard Rock the Casbah." He cackles mischievously. "Maybe they did hear it after all." The incident has since gone down in French rock legend. - The Guardian, 2003

La Casbah j'écris en Français, est un quartier ancien de plusieurs siècles implanté ds 1 grande ville, maisons typiques construites par les habitants, revisited par L'empire Ottoman, petites ruelles, débute en bas, atteint le sommet de la ville, on en trouve au Maroc Algérie, Syrie, etc.... Pour vs donner 1 idée regardez reportages sur Casbah quartier agréable, on peut s'y perdre, mais ce sont des lieux magiques, ça grouille de monde

Les Clash, étaient un groupe de rock Anglais Apparu si je ne me trompe pas, a peu près au moment "" Des Sexes Pistols"" groupe de punk anglais, fin des années 70, ils étaient surnommés" "Sales Gosses" "par la presse British, leurs slogans ou revendications, enlever l'ordre établi, et ils ont réussi à changer et à interpeller des foules ds le Monde Il fait écouter Voilà Madame Pace Salute très à la pointe Mike Jones est sur scène avec RACHID, regardez Clash il y a leurs morceaux

When the drummer rolls to start the song and Mick Jones is pounding that guitar, after all these years it takes me back to that special electric,energy sound that made the Clash so Loved in Punk Rock music history. Fantastic Thanks for the Video! ""Surely I Do Like It"".

Yes in fact he has a Back2The Future Delorean time machine, so he rode it back to 1982 when Clash recorded Casbah, came up with the riff which The Clash ripped off, then went back to 2004 and did his version!

Tahoe's not quite right, but more than you give him credit for (at least according to Taha). Taha saw the Clash as a teenager and says he gave Strummer a demo tape for his band (not sure if it was Carte de Sejour or an earlier band), which blended punk and rock with traditional North African melodies. He never heard anything, but a while later they came out with Casbah and he figured Joe had given the tape a listen and got some inspiration. Taha doesn't call it a ripoff, though.

This is pretty bitchin'. I wouldn't mind an Eno/Mick Jones collaboration in this lifetime, and if they chose to do it with these dudes, it'd be pretty rad. Kind of reminds me of "Remain in Light"-era Talking Heads.
